If I have the luxury of waiting a couple of days (though a couple of weeks is much better), I can spot all kinds of SMDH stuff.
When Barb was redoing the science series I reread a few of the early ones and was appalled at mistakes. Not just typos where anyone could figure out what I meant, but factual errors like sentences that read the exact opposite of what I intended.
Having a nice time gap between writing and editing makes mistakes jump out to authors.
On your Saturday FRNSI numbers, I had a whim to see them in a bar chart across time. There are two weeks where the numbers are negatives (8/03 and 8/10) and the other numbers are positive. I wondered if those values should have also been positive, but didn’t pursue it. A screenshot of the Excel is below.
I wandered off to explore Manhattan Institutes’ City Journal, found they have an opening for a digital online editor, spent a fair amount of time writing a targeted cover letter, and applied. It’s remote but one does need to go to Manhattan every month or two.

Someone did youtube reviews of both the Yugo and a Trabant…plus a Volga, which was the middle-of-the-line Soviet car. (Lada was the low end, Zil was the big limousine.) The Volga would have been a credible cheap car in the US in the 1950s I think, albeit likely underpowered. This was the 1989 model year.

A presidential candidate would hit nothing but the big population centers.
An alternative that is actually constitutional would be to have states do what Nebraska and Maine do; split the EVs so that each congressional district gets one EV, and each state as a whole gets two EVs.
The US would end up being 435 districts, each with one EV, and each state would have two at large, that would go the way the entire state did. Fraud would have to hit a LOT of localities to work well, and Wyoming (and other states with one congresscritter) would be most important: Win that district you get three votes, not just one like you would if you won downtown Baltimore.
It would certainly be interesting to analyze past elections (tossing 2020 as having hopelessly corrupted data) to see how they would have turned out.

we went home to visit my mom over the weekend. We live in upper central PA, she lives more south and east PA. One the way down, thru “mid” PA there were loads of farms and we saw many FARMERS FOR TRUMP signs in fields–not a single Harris sign. We also saw a few Take Back America bumper stickers. (None of this is surprising tbh)
When we got closer to Mom’s house, i expected to see the one street lined with Harris signs–they were lined with maggot signs 4 years ago. Not a one. now there weren’t any Trump signs either. I finally spotted one sign that simply read Harris for president. It was an “official” sign–not made by the homeowner or anything. what i found interesting was it wasn’t Harris/Walz…just Harris.
i did see a Harris bumper sticker on the way home, but the car was covered with lesbians for this…lesbians for that…so I wasn’t surprised.
One other cool thing i saw: in one of those farmer’s field, we saw a drone spraying the crops. on the road there was a white van and 2 guys standing on top of the van controlling the drone. first time i ever saw anything like that!

It will definitely buy time. FIB and SWAT will take a bit longer to go through, busting out frame on both sides, but it will give the occupant more time to wake up, respond appropriately, and not get assassinated.
If one wants a quick way to secure a door, say one you don’t use much or at all, it can be done with stuff you’ll have laying around in the shed.
Get some heavy gauge wood screw, choose to fit a particular gap. and drive it into the gap between the door frame and the opening side of the door good and tight. Two should suffice and if the hinges are a bit wonky a couple on that side as well.
On the hinge side…. remove a screw or two and replace them with your Longer screws.

Yours Truly: Below is a JPG of the Health Canada (Canadian version of the FDA) response to an FOIA request regarding the ingredients of the Pfizer-BioNTech modRNA COVID-19 “vaccine” for the COVID-19 virus Omicron XBB.1.5. variant. The “black areas” in the response represent actual information given to Health Canada by Pfizer-BioNTech but which had been redacted by Health Canada for the response. “Alternate language” was inserted to fill these redacted areas — per the replies to the blog post, possibly by someone called “surfer chick.”
Note that it says, “PFIZER CONFIDENTIAL” at the bottom of the page — just as on the pages of Pfizer-BioNTech actual data and information that was given by the company to the FDA.
She’s a bit miffed, I’d say.

Plus it seems both her mama Shamala, and father broke some laws too!You see, the Department of Justice and FBI opened an investigation of Kamala Harris’ alien Indian mother for unauthorized work and marriage fraud in 1967.

Well it certainly didn’t in my friend’s case. He served in the USA army in Vietnam. He was English brought here when he was 2. He was TOLD that when he was sworn in as an enlisted man that made him a US citizen…. HOWEVER when he tried to get a passport he was told that did not matter diddly squat and he would have to go thru the normal naturalization process.
That seems not right.

After going years without watching TV, the tolerance I built up over decades is all gone, so when I’m exposed to it now, it’s agitating to the point that I have to mute it or turn it off after a few minutes, or leave.
Even on mute, the constant screen changes and flashing of images drawing your attention to the lie box is maddening.
About 20 years ago, I was visiting with my parents and they had the idiot box playing, and I was astounded that they could sit in the same room with it. If I had tried to tune into that sort of thing when I was a kid, I would have lost TV privileges for months, but they seem to have adjusted to it as “normal”.

“Our counterintelligence vigilance for our security protective services in the United States, be it Diplomatic Security Services, be it Secret Service, be it in the U.S. Marshals or in the Treasury [Department], have been penetrated by people who are wittingly or unwittingly providing tangible support for Iranian network activities in this country,” a former senior intelligence official in the Obama administration told RCP over the weekend.
Two years ago, some U.S. officials became alarmed about Secret Service leaders’ lack of vigilance against potential espionage when an applicant failed the terrorism portion of a counterintelligence polygraph test, but agency leaders allowed the employee to remain and become a security-clearance adjudicator, according to two sources in the Secret Service community.
