2024·08·31 Joe Biden Didn’t Win Daily Thread

What is it that feeds our battle, yet starves our victory?

January 6 Tapes?

Paging Speaker Johnson…this is your conscience calling you out on broken promises.

For all your high talk about your Christian moral background…you’re looking less and less like you have any kind of moral background.

If You are a Patriot and Don’t Loathe RINOs…

Let’s talk about RINOs, and why they are the lowest form of life in politics.

Many patriots have been involved with politics, often at the grassroots, for decades. We’ve fought, and fought, and fought and won the occasional illusory small victory.

Yet we can’t seem to win the war, even when we have BIG electoral wins.

I am reminded of something. The original Star Trek had an episode titled Day of the Dove. It was one of the better episodes from the third season, but any fan of the original series will tell you that’s a very low bar. Still, it seems to get some respect; at a time when there were about 700 episodes of Star Trek in its various incarnations out there, it was voted 99th best out of the top 100.

In sum, the plot is that an alien entity has arranged for 39 Enterprise crew, and 39 Klingons, to fight each other endlessly with swords and other muscle-powered weapons. The entity lives off of hostile emotions, you see and it wants a captive food source. (The other 400 or so Enterprise crew are trapped below decks and unable to help.) Each side has its emotions played and amplified by the alien entity; one Enterprise junior officer has false memories implanted of a brother who was killed by Klingons. The brother didn’t even exist.

Even people killed in a sword fight miraculously heal so they can go do it again.

The second best line of the episode is when Kang, the Klingon captain, notes that though they have won quite a number of small victories including capturing Engineering, can’t seem to actually finally defeat the Enterprise crew. He growls, “What power is it that feeds our battle yet starves our victory?*”

Indeed. He may have been the bad guy, but his situation should sound familiar.

We are a majority in this country. We have a powerful political party in our corner. There is endless wrangling.

And yet,

What power is it that feeds our battle yet starves our victory?

In our case, that power is the RINOs in our midst. They specialize in caving when on the verge of victory. Think of Obamacare’s repeal failing…by one Republican vote. Think of the way we can never seem to get spending under control (and now our entire tax revenue goes to pay interest on the debt; anything the government actually does now is with borrowed money).

We have a party…that refuses to do what we want it to do, and that refusal is institutionalized. If you’ve been involved with GOP politics, but haven’t seen this, it’s because you refuse to see it. Or because you are part of the problem yourself. (If so, kindly gargle some red fuming nitric acid to clear the taste of shit out of your mouth, and let those not part of the problem alone so they can read this.)

We fight to elect people, who then take a dive when in office. But it’s not just the politicians in office, it’s the people behind the scenes, the leaders of the national, state and county branches of the party. Their job is to ensure that real patriots never get onto the general election ballot. They’re allowed a few failures…who can then become token conservatives who will somehow never manage to win (Jordan), or can be compromised outright (Lauren Boebert?).

That way it doesn’t actually matter who has a congressional majority. I remember my excitement when the GOP took the Senate in 1980. But all that did was empower a bunch of “moderate” puddles of dog vomit like…well for whatever reason forty years later the most memorable name is Pete Domenici. And a couple of dozen other “moderates” who simply had no interest in doing what grassroots people in their party–those same grassroots people who had worked so hard to elect them–wanted them to do.

Oh, they’ll put up a semblance of a fight…but never win. And they love it when we fight the Dems instead of fighting them. Just like that alien entity, whose motto surely was “Let’s you and him fight. It’ll be delicious!”

If you think about it, your entire political involvement has come to nothing because of these walking malignant tumors.

That should make you good and mad.

The twenty five who blocked Jordan, and the hundred people who took that opportunity to stab Jordan in the back in the secret ballot should make you good and mad.

I’ll close this with another example of RINO backstabbing, an infuriating one close to home.

In my county, the GOP chair is not a RINO. She got elected when the grassroots had had enough of the RINOs. Unfortunately the state organization is full of RINOs, and the ousted county RINOs have been trying to form a new “Republican Party” and get the state GOP to recognize them as the affiliate. I’m honestly amazed it hasn’t happened yet.

In other words those shitstains won’t just leave when they get booted out; they’ll try to destroy what they left behind. It’s an indication that they know we know how important that behind-the-scenes party power is.

So they must be destroyed. That’s the only way they’ll ever stop.

We cannot win until the leeches “on our side” get destroyed.

What power is it that feeds our battle yet starves our victory?*

We know it. What is going to be done about it?

*NOTE: The original line was actually “What power is it that supports our battle yet starves our victory.” I had mis-remembered it as feeds. When I checked it, it sure enough was “supports” and that’s what I originally quoted. On further reflection, though, I realized my memory was actually an improvement over the reality, because feeds is a perfect contrast with starves. I changed it partway through the day this originally posted, but now (since this is a re-run) it gets rendered this way from the start.

If one must do things wrong, one should do them wrong…right.

RINOs an Endangered Species?
If Only!

According to Wikipoo, et. al., the Northern White Rhinoceros (Ceratotherium simum cottoni) is a critically endangered species. Apparently two females live on a wildlife preserve in Sudan, and no males are known to be alive. So basically, this species is dead as soon as the females die of old age. Presently they are watched over by armed guards 24/7.

Biologists have been trying to cross them with the other subspecies, Southern White Rhinoceroses (Rhinoceri?) without success; and some genetic analyses suggest that perhaps they aren’t two subspecies at all, but two distinct species, which would make the whole project a lot more difficult.

I should hope if the American RINO (Parasitus rectum pseudoconservativum) is ever this endangered, there will be heroic efforts not to save the species, but rather to push the remainder off a cliff. Onto punji sticks. With feces smeared on them. Failing that a good bath in red fuming nitric acid will do.

But I’m not done ranting about RINOs.

The RINOs (if they are capable of any introspection whatsoever) probably wonder why they constantly have to deal with “populist” eruptions like the Trump-led MAGA movement. That would be because the so-called populists stand for absolutely nothing except for going along to get along. That allows the Left to drive the culture and politics.

Given the results of our most recent elections, the Left will now push harder, and the RINOs will now turn even squishier than they were before.

I well remember 1989-1990 in my state when the RINO establishment started preaching the message that a conservative simply couldn’t win in Colorado. Never mind the fact that Reagan had won the state TWICE (in 1984 bringing in a veto-proof state house and senate with him) and GHWB had won after (falsely!) assuring everyone that a vote for him was a vote for Reagan’s third term.

This is how the RINOs function. They push, push, push the line that only a “moderate” can get elected. Stomp them when they pull that shit. Tell everyone in ear shot that that’s exactly what the Left wants you to think, and oh-by-the-way-Mister-RINO if you’re in this party selling the same message as the Left…well, whythefuckexactly are you in this party, you lying piece of rancid weasel shit?

Justice

It says “Justice” on the picture.

And I’m sure someone will post the standard joke about what the fish thinks about the situation.

But what is it?

Here’s a take, from a different context: It’s about how you do justice, not the justice that must be done to our massively corrupt government and media. You must properly identify the nature of a person, before you can do him justice.

Ayn Rand, On Justice (speaking through her character John Galt, in Atlas Shrugged):

Justice is the recognition of the fact that you cannot fake the character of men as you cannot fake the character of nature, that you must judge all men as conscientiously as you judge inanimate objects, with the same respect for truth, with the same incorruptible vision, by as pure and as rational a process of identification—that every man must be judged for what he is and treated accordingly, that just as you do not pay a higher price for a rusty chunk of scrap than for a piece of shining metal, so you do not value a rotter above a hero—that your moral appraisal is the coin paying men for their virtues or vices, and this payment demands of you as scrupulous an honor as you bring to financial transactions—that to withhold your contempt from men’s vices is an act of moral counterfeiting, and to withhold your admiration from their virtues is an act of moral embezzlement—that to place any other concern higher than justice is to devaluate your moral currency and defraud the good in favor of the evil, since only the good can lose by a default of justice and only the evil can profit—and that the bottom of the pit at the end of that road, the act of moral bankruptcy, is to punish men for their virtues and reward them for their vices, that that is the collapse to full depravity, the Black Mass of the worship of death, the dedication of your consciousness to the destruction of existence.

Ayn Rand identified seven virtues, chief among them rationality. The other six, including justice, she considered subsidiary because they are essentially different aspects and applications of rationality.

—Ayn Rand Lexicon (aynrandlexicon.com)

Justice Must Be Done.

Trump, it is supposed, had some documents.

Biden and company stole the country.

I’m sure enough of this that I put my money where my mouth is.

The prior election must be acknowledged as fraudulent, and steps must be taken to prosecute the fraudsters and restore integrity to the system. (This doesn’t necessarily include deposing Joe and Hoe and putting Trump where he belongs, but it would certainly be a lot easier to fix our broken electoral system with the right people in charge.)

Nothing else matters at this point. Talking about trying again in 2024 or 2026 is pointless otherwise. Which is not to say one must never talk about this, but rather that one must account for this in ones planning; if fixing the fraud in the system is not part of the plan, you have no plan.

This will necessarily be piecemeal, state by state, which is why I am encouraged by those states working to change their laws to alleviate the fraud both via computer and via bogus voters. If enough states do that we might end up with a working majority in Congress and that would be something Trump never really had.

OK now for the fine print.

This is the WQTH Daily Thread. You know the drill. There’s no Poltical correctness, but civility is a requirement. There are Important Guidelines,  here, with an addendum on 20191110.

We have a new board – called The U Tree – where people can take each other to the woodshed without fear of censorship or moderation.

And remember Wheatie’s Rules:

1. No food fights
2. No running with scissors.
3. If you bring snacks, bring enough for everyone.
4. Zeroth rule of gun safety: Don’t let the government get your guns.
5. Rule one of gun safety: The gun is always loaded.
5a. If you actually want the gun to be loaded, like because you’re checking out a bump in the night, then it’s empty.
6. Rule two of gun safety: Never point the gun at anything you’re not willing to destroy.
7. Rule three: Keep your finger off the trigger until ready to fire.
8. Rule the fourth: Be sure of your target and what is behind it.

(Hmm a few extras seem to have crept in.)

Spot Prices

Last week:

Gold $2,513.10
Silver $29.88
Platinum $973.00
Palladium $988.00
Rhodium $5,050.00

This week, at Friday close:

Gold $2,504.30
Silver $28.92
Platinum $936.00
Palladium $993.00
Rhodium $4,975.00
FRNSI* 120.146-

Note: Five weeks ago gold closed at 2,387.10.

Gold seemed to move around a fair amount between $2500 and $2530 or so. I don’t believe it ever dipped below $2500 this week but I wasn’t watching it continuously and was very preoccupied at work today and never looked. Notice that palladium has pulled further ahead from platinum; it’s the only thing that went up this last week. Silver dropped nearly a dollar, which is over three percent.

*The SteveInCO Federal Reserve Note Suckage Index (FRNSI) stands at 114.486+. (This index is the ratio between the price of gold today, versus the value of the dollar defined as dollars per ounce when we had the gold standard, minus 1 (so that an index of 0 means the dollar is at its original value and doesn’t suck at all). I use that clumsy phrasing because the dollar was defined as a certain amount of gold. 25.8 grains of .900 fine gold was a dollar. This works out to 23.22 grains of pure gold. With 480 grains in a troy ounce, you can do the arithmetic as fractions (rather than decimals to get a precise value) to find one troy ounce of gold was 20 260/387ths dollars (precisely) or 20.671834625323 dollars (approximately–I suspect the decimal won’t repeat until 386 digits have gone by). It’s a subtle distinction. One ounce of gold wasn’t worth $20.67+ back then, it was twenty dollars and 67 71/387 cents)

PS: I was able to do the arithmetic in double precision and got 0.1834625322997416041470586378636653535068035125732421875 followed by zeros. How much of that might be roundoff error, I do not know. Note that there is an 8637 followed by an 8636…darn, almost started repeating.

Flat Earth?

My opinion on this is well known.

But let’s play devil’s advocate for a bit.

Usually I see something like this presented as the way the Earth looks. (Although some say this has been changing recently.) In essence, north is towards the center of the disk, and south is towards the rim. Antarctica, rather than being a (very) roughly circular continent straddling the south pole on the globe, is a raised rim near the edge. East and west would depend on where you’re standing, but wherever you are, “east” is counterclockwise on the disk, and “west” is clockwise.

Things seem a bit vaguer when it comes to discussing the sun and moon, but what I usually see is something like this (my apologies for the extra white space…it’s actually part of the image):

The Sun and Moon are depicted as considerably smaller than the Earth, and relatively close by; here they are less than one earth radius (i.e., the radius of the disk). And they are below a dome of some sort, which many associate with the Biblical firmament. The stars (and presumably the planets) are either on or beyond that dome.

There appears to be an immediate problem here. The entire surface of the Earth is lit by the Sun, at all times. Thus it would seem that the very existence of nighttime is proof that this can’t be right. However, the claim is that the sun does not shine in all directions, but is more like a directed spotlight, lighting only part of the Earth at any given time.

The sun travels in a circular path over the Earth’s surface, one circuit per day, and that circle is centered around the north pole, though the circle varies in size from season to season, as shown on the left side of the following diagram (with the left side being the “conventional” picture). The red path is the one the Sun follows in winter, the orange path around the equinoxes (March and September), with the yellow being the beginning of summer.

So for us people living in North America, we see the sun fairly high in the southern sky in June when it’s on the yellow track, but lower in the sky in December when it’s on the red track, and farther away. (NB: It should be possible to measure changes to the apparent size of the Sun, where it appears larger in summer and smaller in winter, if this is a true description of things.)

Someone in Australia, on the other hand, should see the Sun closest to them at noon, their time…and it will pass to their north.

This is indeed what we see, but broadly speaking the same prediction is made by the globe earth model, so you can’t use this to show which one is right.

Narrowly speaking. on the other hand, the two differ somewhat in terms of what path the sun will appear moving across the sky. Globe earth predicts the sun will follow a certain arc across the sky then drop below the horizon, following the continuation of the arc. Flat Earth predicts a different path across the sky, particularly in the Southern hemisphere, and also does not predict the sun will drop below the horizon. Globe prediction: On the first day of southern summer, the sun will rise in the south east, and climb into the sky on a northward slope, eventually crossing directly north of the viewer halfway across, then set in the southwest. Flat earth prediction: On the first day of southern summer the sun comes into view in the northeast, arcs across to the north, and disappears from view in the northwest.

I’ve been to the Southern hemisphere–though not outside the red circle–and can attest the midday sun was indeed to the north of me. But again that’s expected by both flat and globe earth models. Unfortunately I didn’t think to take note of where it rose and set.

Note though that the truly dramatic differences are in Antarctica. Which makes sense because the two different versions of what Antarctica must be are quite different, more so than, say, Greenland which is near the center of the disk in one model, or near the north pole in the other. It’s either this:

…or that white ring around the rim of flat earth.

And it should be easy to tell, if you’re there. For instance, going from Wilkes Land to Ellsworth Land should be about 4000km if globe earth is correct, but on Flat Earth the shortest way to do it is to cut across the disk, which is to say, cross over the north pole; distance unknown (since no flat earth map ever includes a scale) but certainly a lot more than 4000km.

But I’ve been talking about the Sun a lot, so I’m going to focus on that. On flat earth, a person standing in Antarctica should see an even more exaggerated version of the sun motion I talked about before…becoming visible to the northeast or even, perhaps the north-northeast, coming closer and being highest in the sky when directly north of the view, then receding off to the northwest or maybe even the north-northwest.

Globe Earth predicts something else entirely. During southern summer, provided you are inside the Antarctic circle as shown on the globe earth map above, there should be at least one day every year where the Sun doesn’t set at all. The further south, the more days that are like this; at the south pole the sun wouldn’t set for six months. In fact over the course of a 24 hour day, it circles completely around you, getting lower in the sky to your south (unless you’re at the south pole, where its height above the horizon will be constant) but not setting.

So all we have to do is go to Antarctica during southern summer, and look.

Well, this is supposedly impossible, according to proponents of Flat Earth. You won’t be able to hitch a ride there (none available), and if you were to buy a boat or an airplane and try to sail or fly there…you’ll be killed by those desperate to keep you from being able to prove the globe wrong.

This turns out to be incorrect; over 30,000 people a year visit Antarctica as tourists. People have cross country skied to the south pole. This company will even arrange a trip to the south pole itself (though who knows how much it costs): https://www.antarcticacruises.com/

But it is difficult and expensive, making it not an option for most flat earthers…or for that matter, most globe earthers.

Fortunately, Pastor Will Duffy is offering to pay trip expenses for 12 each, flat earthers and globe earthers (we are talking influencers, not just adherents–Or I’d sign up and cross Antarctica off my bucket list for cheap). The purpose is to go to Antarctica during its summer and see whether there is a 24 hour sun or not. Thus far he has three flat earthers and eight globe earthers signed up. https://www.the-final-experiment.com/participants

OK now I revert to globe earther, trying not to laugh at the inanity of this.

We’re already seeing a couple of things happen in the flat earther camp. One, the three going on the Final Experiment are being condemned by many of the others. Also, many are trying to rework their model to account for a 24 hour sun in Antarctica, after years of denying any such thing could be true…almost as if, in fact, they do expect it will turn out to be true.

And, as is pointed out here: https://youtu.be/7xoW49mkLyw?t=178 if the flat earthers actually went back and reported that by golly they saw a 24 hours sun, they’d simply be accused of having been bought off. Or never having really been a flat earther to begin with (in exactly the way some Christians will accuse those who lose their faith of never having really been a Christian to begin with).

So what I see is Flat Earthers running scared when someone offers to pay the expense for this–change the theory, start condemning the participants…but not one single globe earther is running scared, being ostracized, or anything like that.

So who’s trying to run a cover-up here? Who’s acting as if they’re scared to find out the truth?

On a closing note, Antarctica proves to be a problem for flat earth anyway:

PS: I was about to write this, and saw that Rayzorback has posted a newer version of the 200 Proofs video by Eric Dubay. Well, fortunately someone has done a debunk (though it may be of the older video). [looking at points 55 (25:01) through 59 (ending at 27:22) will address 24 hour sun claims and other similar ones.]

Unfortunately, in order to get through it in any reasonable amount of time he has to skip over a lot of background and just say “This person doesn’t understand physics,” which although true is unhelpful. So, Rayzorback…pick your ten favorite (with your absolute favorite first) points from the video you posted…give their numbers…and I will put two hours worth of effort into countering those ten points, a bit more thoroughly than “Professor Dave” did. At my option I may divide that time amongst all ten or really concentrate on a subset of them. I make this offer in spite of the fact that I believe you will simply dismiss anything I have to say, just as you dismiss people when they debunk the points you have raised in the past (such as Wolf finding air flights you insist don’t exist).

First. Again.

That’s an interesting proposal that would provide some relief from the monotony of the news cycle at present…

TheseTruths

Both are interesting, but I was referring to your offer to Rayzorback.

Britain has some funny ideas about wiring. Like, every plug must have a switch.

OTOH, grounded outlets in the US are installed upside-down. The original concept was that the grounding lug was on top, so if you dropped something conductive onto an outlet where the cord wasn’t seated properly, it would bounce to one side or the other instead of arcing between hot and return.

cthulhu

We still make the the hot and return connections a fork’s width apart, so there’s hope!

The Brits insist on putting them on separate continents. *sigh* They showed so much promise wiring for 220V….

Alternating current (AC) here in the US is at 60 cycles per second, I usually count between 20 or 30 before letting go

kalbokalbs

Incredible focus. :wpds_lol:

Aubergine

All of my outlets are installed as you describe.

Many years ago, my youngest son, about three at the time, “put a nickle into the slot,” so to speak. It only shorted out and blackened the wall, thank God, but that was a lesson I never forgot!

pgroup2

That last sentence sounds like the close of a TV series episode:

“See you next week, boys and girls. Same time, same station.”

Aubergine

Electricity scares the shit out of me, no joke. I used to be married to an electrician. I know too many stories.

cthulhu

I’m fine working downstream from the main breakers. I don’t do breakers, and I don’t work inside the box.

I intend to run everything on subpanels for anything I construct in the future.

cthulhu

Yeah, I could do that. That’s why I was saying subpanels FTW. I just don’t like an unobstructed bus bars when they’re hot.

Gail Combs

AMEN!

For me it is lightening. My family does not fare well with lightening.

Granddad had the horse he was driving killed by lightening. Mom had the phone knocked out of her hand and we had the TV set explode. I have had friends get their horses and ponies killed by lightening. The X-ray machine in my lab got taken out by a bolt that traveled UNDERGROUND and up thru the grounding wire. And last I had a strike near me that knocked me and a caving buddy to the ground.😱

Aubergine

Jeez Louise!

Gail Combs

Sometimes, I wonder how it is I am still alive! There have been so many times I should have been dead.

cthulhu

By contrast, I always regarded electricity as a friend.

People may recall that I skipped second grade, but I don’t recall going into great detail why….

Very early on, my first grade teacher realized that she had a problem with me. I was extremely bored with classroom activities, and too young to be polite about it. She solved a chunk of her problem by sending me off to a second grade classroom for reading and math (where I still ended up in the top quintile of the class), but that didn’t totally fix things.

I don’t know how she came upon this solution, but while the other kids were doing their thing, she often sat me over in a corner with a bunch of batteries, wires, knife switches, and light bulbs. If someone had been available to teach me the electrical code and caution with 110VAC, I would have been all set to wire houses — I already knew that you had to “home run” the hot and return lines or things wouldn’t work.

One of the things I remember my dad and I doing at home was making an electric motor out of nails and scrap wood.

Perhaps if I’d known better, I might have been more afraid — I remember discovering that my uncle hadn’t covered all the switches in his house with wall plates when I got “tingled” trying to turn on the light in his closet. Smarted some, but I never felt like my life was threatened.

cthulhu

I’m sitting next to a lightning-fried relay from my AC condenser. Nice effect where the vaporized copper condensed onto the innards.

WSB

Correct. What is democracy?

pgroup2

Wanna guess how many emails Branco gets that tell him that exact thing?

I love all of you guys very much, but I truly believe the world would be a better place if we turned the internet off.

pgroup2

You can have that today – in a special place in West Virginia where all radio waves are banned.

  :wpds_lol:

Aubergine

Wow! I may have to move!

Barb Meier

Wow, my house may be inside that zone! I’m about 18 miles north of Harrisonburg, VA.

pgroup2

That might explain why your comments get posted via smoke signals. 😂

Barb Meier

😂 😂 😂

Aubergine

Lucky you!

Barb Meier

I just got fiber optic cable through Shentel, our local landline provider. It’s a big deal for my property since it is almost halfway up the Massanutten Mountain and they had to run a pipe under a three-lane highway. Took them about a month to schedule four parts of the install with different teams. It’s so nice though and I now have wall-to-wall Internet. ohhh ahhhh. When I moved here, I used little Verizon Mifi boxes to do Internet.

TheseTruths

The world would be a different place, definitely. But turning off the internet would remove the power we now have to counter propaganda and lies. It’s a double-edged sword.

Gail Combs

The Banksters and the proto-type of the Military Industrial complex bought controlling interest of the MSM in 1915. Along with the 16th & 17th amendments and the federal reserve act in 1913, these events are WHY we are in the present mess.

Aubergine

I would like to live in the times when there were only newspapers, and not even those in most places. Just you and your neighbors, and whatever gossip they spread.

kalbokalbs

That makes two of us.

pgroup2

It only takes two to start gossip. Just saying. 🙂

kalbokalbs

If we had an honest government, medical world, and a few others, I’d agree.

At this point, I’m thinking Free speech and ability to research on the Internet, has given us a “life line,” to get things right.

Wolf Moon | Threat to Demonocracy

Just remember – it would remain, in secret, for “them”. 😉

Aubergine

I was hoping for a Y2K event. I wanted it then, and I want it now.

If I could go back and live in the 1820s, I would.

Barb Meier

I would miss indoor toilets and dishwashers.

pgroup2

A generation prior to the end of slavery. Interesting.

Aubergine

Lol. Most of my ancestors were poor sharecroppers. No slaves. And some of them were religious objectors to slavery. I have it in writing.

Aubergine

You know, I came back to this after having a thought.

It’s interesting to me that, out of all the things that America was in the 1820s, the fact that there was slavery here at that time is what you thought of. Not criticizing, it just interests me.

So, in 1820, America had come through the War of 1812, and had just defeated the Barbary Pirates. Gold had not been discovered in California yet, but it was being mined across the South. I have ancestors who appear to have followed the veins across the Appalachians all the way to Northeastern Georgia, where there was a Gold Rush in 1828.

Industrialization and mechanization were just starting, mostly in the North. Capitalism was just beginning to take hold.

The Alabama Territory was pretty brand new, and quite a few of my ancestors headed there. A few continued on into the land of the Louisiana Purchase. Some went further West into Texas or Arkansas. Some of those were never heard from again.

Louis and Clark had seen America all the way to the Pacific, and had returned with tales of the majesty of the Rockies. This would encourage people to strike out farther West.

Women were mostly modest homemakers with lots of children. Men worked the fields and hunted the game. They both made comestibles from what they grew or found on the land. Some of my ancestors were Native American, and had intermarried with whites. They founded churches together, and spread Christianity across the South. I have records for that.

America was young and ambitious. Sure, there was slavery among a small percentage of the populace. Perhaps one in five people owned one or two slaves. Only a small percentage, maybe 2-3%, owned 30+ people.

Another interesting thing that many people don’t know is slave ownership, particularly in Louisiana, was practiced by free black Americans, too. It was a different time.

We’ve come a long way from those days. In many ways things are better. But in lots of ways, we have lost much.

Yes, there was a great boom in the late 1800s. The “robber barons” of copper, tin, and other metal mining, and the railroads were on the rise, and all kinds of new innovations were being implemented.

I long for simple times. I know things were hard back then, and often scary. But our value systems weren’t all screwed up. We knew what a woman was, kids weren’t dying from fentanyl overdoses, there weren’t mass shootings in the one-room schoolhouses. I’m tired. Maybe you can tell 🙂

The video is taken from the perps. So if anything is going to be learned it means the girl is going to have to come forward.

So far I haven’t seen this surface on any of my primary conservative news sites yet, but then it took more than a day for them to report on the invaders trying to board school buses in AZ.

The left is trying to call this fake but it doesn’t seem so. What might be likely is these perps chased off another original group of perps and then continued to chastise the girl for walking through their neighborhood wearing a Trump t-shirt, IDK but seems plausible in explaining the light kicks.

Steve this is great seeing you do a science post again it’s been too long I really hope you take that pastor up and become 1 of the 12 globe advocates. it would be awesome to get the experience to go to the Antarctic, to fellowship with inquiring minds, to share your findings and the probably amazing photos you’d get…And who knows maybe that will be the place where the pastor convinces you to change your mind about something else As my prayer has been for a while now 😇

I think that both of us simultaneously cried out in mixed awe, wonder,

terror, and disbelief in our own senses as we finally cleared the pass

and saw what lay beyond. Of course, we must have had some natural

theory in the back of our heads to steady our faculties for the moment.

Probably we thought of such things as the grotesquely weathered stones

of the Garden of the Gods in Colorado, or the fantastically symmetrical

wind-carved rocks of the Arizona desert. Perhaps we even half thought

the sight a mirage like that we had seen the morning before on first

approaching those mountains of madness.

Then came a flash of anticlimax as the white shape sidled into a

lateral archway to our left, to join two others of its kind which

had summoned it in raucous tones. For it was only a penguin–albeit

of a huge, unknown species larger than the greatest of the known

king penguins, and monstrous in its combined albinism and virtual

eyelessness.

When we had followed the thing into the archway and turned both our

torches on the indifferent and unheeding group of three, we saw that

they were all eyeless albinos of the same unknown and gigantic species.

Their size reminded us of some of the archaic penguins depicted in the

Old Ones’ sculptures, and it did not take us long to conclude that

they were descended from the same stock–undoubtedly surviving through a retreat to some warmer inner region whose perpetual blackness had destroyed their pigmentation and atrophied their eyes to mere useless slits.

A whole lot of the world runs on SQL databases, which — unfortunately — all use the same commands. Further, a lot of web inputs take any submitted data and fold it into a pre-formatted command. Little Bobby Tables’ name just happens to hijack a pre-formatted command at his school into deleting a table called “Students”.

This stuff is OLD. It possibly predates dirt. It is ANCIENT. And systems designed to screen airline cockpits still fall for it.

Where a sane and responsible agency might respond with, “oh, @^$^, let’s bring in some knowledgeable people to up-armor our system and be honest about it”, the TSA has decided to band-aid the system repeatedly and try to pretend there’s no problem.

City officials tried to minimize the problem, but a security researcher took the time to look at the data and informed newspapers that, yup, it was real.

So the city got a restraining order against the security researcher.

The mayor of Columbus is a nasty Hillary backer named Andrew Ginther, who “captured and killed” Trump’s first and only rally in Columbus. So if the earth were flat, the only place on it where life would be anything like what we experience would be the center of the disc. The farther one got from the center, the more anomalies there would be, like trees growing at angles and our having a harder time walking. I imagine flat-earthers deny this if they’re aware of it.

Gail Combs

You can’t have a flat earth. If you did cats would push everything off the edge…

Barb Meier

And then watch it float off into the ether. Or instead, if there was gravity would it stick to the other side?

Wolf Moon | Threat to Demonocracy

What I find wonderfully ironic is that the “anti-sphere-cucks” claim that what we experience isn’t gravity, but rather the Earth accelerating upward – and THAT is essentially Einstein’s principle of equivalence under accelerations.

However, by not postulating any source of the acceleration, it can be “all downward on a flat Earth” and thus no crumbling edges. Only a crumbling theory – one that provides no explanation of why acceleration would happen.

Trees grow in weird directions. Water flows and balls roll upwards. Hanging “straight” from a bar results in your body being pulled to an angle. Walking across the room is fighting an invisible force, firmly pulling you back to where you began.

Internet Outage in Canada Blamed on Beavers Gnawing Through Fiber Cables 2021

“Beavers have chewed through our fibre cable at multiple points, causing extensive damage,” said Telus spokesperson Liz Sauvé in an email to Gizmodo. “Our team located a nearby dam, and it appears the beavers dug underground alongside the creek to reach our cable, which is buried about three feet underground and protected by a 4.5-inch thick conduit. The beavers first chewed through the conduit before chewing through the cable in multiple locations.”

Thanks for the link,, BarkerJim!! Near my hometown is Clarksville, MO. My uncle was the welder for a skylift they built that went up a 600-foot hill to a little “western” town. People at the top could look out over Lock & Dam 24. I worked at the skilift for awhile loading/unloading people onto the chairs and making sure the safety bar was securely in place.

At the top, one of the little houses was like Cosmos where your perceptions were askew. Water seemed to run uphill, and so on.The Clarksville Skylift has been closed for a long time now.

During construction of the large platform where visitors arrived, they uncovered bones from the burial of Indians. They kept them mostly untouched with some uncovered and behind a large glass or plexiglass wall so that visitors could see what they’d found. I think current Indians were understandably unhappy about it. Not sure if that’s why they closed the attraction.

I uploaded one of the standard photos taken of visitors right before they reach the top. It is much darker than one of me that is probably saved either as a paper photo or among the myriad of photos on my iMac.

Apple has made it much harder to go through my photos because they now add every photo or line art on my computer to their Photos library including duplicates for file sets stored in different locations. As a tech writer, there are loads of screen shots and photos from website templates. gak!!

PS: If you are every up that way, that hill is popular with bald eagles. In the winter, the eagles like to sit in trees on that hill. The eagles are watching for fish and I’ve seen them catch a fish and then ride down the Mississippi River on a big chunk of ice as it floats down river.Clarksville is a little town, and I think people come from St Louis to see the eagles sometimes. The fix get stunned coming through the dam and that makes them easy for eagles to catch them.

Another thing that proves the Flat Earther wrong is that you cannot see the North
Star, around which the stars rotate (only apparently, since it is due to Earth rotating), in the Southern Hemisphere. Also, many of the stars visible in the Northern Hemisphere are not visible either, depending how far south of the Equator you are.

But if you look South in the Southern Hemisphere you will notice that the stars also rotate around an imaginary point. You can determine this position with the help of the Southern Cross, since there is no visible bright star in the vicinity.
This point cannot be seen from the Northern Hemisphere.

The Flat Earthers need to explain two rotating points for their model, while this is very easily explainable by a rotating sphere.

Every large mass in the universe is an orb. Period.

Only asteroids and meteors have an irregular shape. https://science.nasa.gov/solar-system/meteors-meteorites/facts/

“What’s the difference between asteroids, comets, and meteors? Well, they’re all planetary objects orbiting the Sun. An asteroid is a small, rocky object and when seen in a telescope, it appears as a point of light. Most asteroids are found in a ring between the orbit of Mars and Jupiter called the asteroid belt.
Some asteroids are round, some are elongated, and some even have a satellite. A comet also orbits the Sun, but unlike an asteroid, it’s composed of ice and dust. So, when a comet gets close to the Sun, its ice and dust content start to vaporize. So, when seen in a telescope, a comet appears fuzzy and/or has a tail.
So, what’s a meteor? Well, let’s start with a meteoroid. A meteoroid is a small piece of asteroid or a comet, typically pebble-sized, but could be a little smaller or a little larger, and often created from a collision. When a meteoroid gets close to the Earth and enters the Earth’s atmosphere, it’s called a meteor. And a meteor enters the Earth’s atmosphere at a very high speed. So it burns up and produces a streak of light called a shooting star. So, if you have seen a shooting star, you likely saw a meteor. And if a meteor survives the burn and lands on the ground, it’s called a meteorite.
So, what’s the difference between asteroids, comets, and meteors? Well, asteroids are rocky, comets are icy, and meteors are much smaller and are the shooting stars that you see up in the sky.”

Crickets so far, of course.

Oh, and he has it at 500 K deaths in America and somewhere around 3.5 million injured. I think the latter is low by a lot due to industry bias and resulting required reporting procedures that eliminate jab complications as causes of death, which is to help the medical industry keep the power play and money flow going. Which means the former is also low by a lot as well.

Personally, we are out on that industry barring a physical injury or or a life threatening emergency/last resort type option.

Any other non-vaccine, vaccine would never have been authorized. It would have never made it past the trials stage. I am certain they knew that well in advance. so they ginned up the fear porn about their gain of functioned cold virus through their media propagandists. The majority of our citizens fell for it. They still believed their government would never intentionally try to injure, much less kill them because it is a foreign concept to most who have believed in America as the white hats all of their lives.

Of course that was propaganda as well, yet, most Americans do not believe what they see and hear that is negative to the white hat view. The cabal scum who deceive them knew that as well. Which is one of the primary reasons I brought our community the BIMD series and now, American Stories. Other authors are doing likewise on here in their areas of interest as we know. Folks should probably pay attention if they want to steer clear of some of the death and destruction fallout. America has never been what the cabal of criminals has led people to believe for about 200 years.

What the corrupted leaders, business opportunists, and their foreign interconnections have openly done proves intent and that depop is the primary goal. They want most of us dead and replaced with more pliable, programmable versions.

Interestingly, PDT is actively promoting having babies just like Poootin now. They know.

For PDT’s economic revival plans to take root and restore the promise of America we need citizens to have babies (not illegal anchor babies) and raise them right while being vigilant to root out the evil doers quickly and efficiently who are around them. Quit trusting the industries and government officials/agencies that want you and your loved ones dead or acting as mindless sheeple doing their bidding.

I want this flat earth stuff to die. People need to use their eyes or if you need one, a telescope. Why would the earth be flat and everything else of mass and substance in the solar system spherical? A simple glance out over an ocean indicates the rounding. Or you can buy a plane ticket and look out the window. Thanks for your willingness to invest your time, Steve. It should not be necessary.

HEADS-UP: THE FDA JUST AUTHORIZED THE NOVAVAX 2024-2025 COVID-19 “VACCINE”:

http://www.fda.gov/news-events/press-announcements/fda-authorizes-updated-novavax-covid-19-vaccine-protect-against-currently-circulating
30 August 2024
Yours Truly: Yesterday, the FDA authorized the use of the Novavax 2024-2025 COVID-19 “vaccine”, NVX-CoV2705, for persons age 12 years and older.

*** THE FDA AUTHORIZED THIS NEW COVID-19 “VACCINE” BASED ON NO ANIMAL OR HUMAN CLINICAL TRIALS — THE DECISION WAS BASED ON THE “SAFETY AND EFFICACY” OF EARLIER VERSIONS OF THE NOVAVAX COVID-19 “VACCINE.”

*** THERE HAVE BEEN NO TOXICOLOGICAL STUDIES, MUTAGENSIS STUDIES, OR EFFECTS ON HUMAN REPRODUCTION ABILITY STUDIES PERFORMED FOR NVX-CoV2705.

Here is the FDA Fact Sheet for Healthcare Providers for NVX-CoV2705:
http://www.fda.gov/media/159857/download

Rapid summary:
One: The Novavax 2024-2025 COVID-19 “vaccine” NVX-CoV2705, IS NOT “SAFER” than the modRNA COVID-19 “vaccines” produced by Pfizer-BioNTech or by Moderna.

Two: NVX-CoV2705 is produced by synthesizing elements of the JN.1 Omicron strain variant (which, of itself, is based on the original Wuhan Hu1 strain of the COVID-19 virus, so it has elements of THAT original strain mixed in) + “incubating” this synthesized mixture in a “culture” made of the Fall Armyworm (Spodoptera frugiperda), a moth species that is NOTORIOUS for its CROP DESTRUCTIVE BEHAVIOR + then mixing this result with a “Matrix-M adjuvant” made of soapbark tree elements.

Three: HOWEVER, the Novavax COVID-19 “vaccines” ALSO use a chemical called methyl-a-D-mannopyranoside, which is for research use only, and “fragments” of which chemical can be in the finished “vaccine”. http://www.thermofisher.com/order/catalog/product/A11533.14, scroll down the page to “Notes,”

PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD

Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.

I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.

Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.

May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.

With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.

Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.

Thank you Father God, my Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that I am more than a conqueror in my Lord Jesus. I pray all of this in the mighty name of my Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ, Amen.

FULLNESS OF FAITH

Throughout scripture, God sets His example;
Limitless – His love – is more than ample;
He is kind; He is good – He is faithful;
For His steadfast Spirit, we are grateful!

Blessed are they who rely on the Lord;
Blessed are they who abide by His Word;
Holy are they who trust only in Him;
Convicted through Faith – is proper and prim!

With Fidelity and Faithfulness – we
Are trusting and trustworthy as can be;
With holy fervor, we honor Our Lord;
Consistently Faithful His Love out-poured!

Through Jesus, we exude Faith, Hope, and Love;
Through His Spirit and exultation above;
Through fullness of Faith – we are relieved;
We have not seen and yet, we have believed!

A Fruit of the Spirit, Faithfulness is;
The art of believing in heavenly bliss;
The act of knowing – relying on hope;
The tug of strength when unable to cope!

In the fullness of Faith, we come alive;
With conviction and purpose, we will thrive;
With our trust in the Lord, we cannot go wrong;
In the Faith Filled Family where we belong!

This is a feature of the organization. Remember the problem is bigger than we can imagine, therefore theres something about this agency’s culture that pushes this priority down.

https://www.zerohedge.com/political/fbi-repeatedly-botches-child-abuse-investigations-new-report-finds

scathing new report from the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of the Inspector General (OIG) has found that the FBI has repeatedly failed to comply with its own policies and federal laws regarding the handling of tips on child sexual abuse. The audit, which follows up on the infamous mishandling of allegations against former USA Gymnastics physician Lawrence Nassar, uncovered significant gaps in the bureau’s response to serious allegations involving suspected child abuse.

comment image?itok=mxkGlrKi

The audit, covering the period between October 2021 and February 2023, scrutinized 327 incidents of alleged hands-on sex offenses against children and found that the FBI has been non-compliant in key areas, including mandatory reporting, victim services, and timely responses to ongoing abuse. Particularly concerning is the revelation that 13% of the reviewed cases were flagged for immediate attention due to substantial deficiencies that could have left children in harm’s way.

“We found the FBI does not document and process all incoming tips and allegations within Guardian and 40 percent of the incidents we reviewed did not include evidence that the FBI responded to an allegation involving active or ongoing child sexual abuse within 24 hours as required by FBI guidance,” reads the report.

Gaps in Mandatory Reporting

According to the report, FBI employees failed to comply with mandatory reporting laws in 47% of incidents involving suspected child abuse. In some cases, there was no evidence that FBI employees had made the required reports to state or local law enforcement or social services agencies. The lack of compliance persisted despite updated training and policies implemented after the Nassar scandal aimed at ensuring FBI personnel understood their obligations as mandatory reporters.

““In our review, we found that for 36 percent of eligible victims in our sample, there was no evidence that the victim received appropriate services or updates,” reads the report.

comment image?itok=2lJ_ahHw

Moreover, even when FBI employees did report suspected abuse, they often failed to do so within the 24-hour window required by FBI policy. The audit found that only 43% of the reports were made within the mandated timeframe, and just 17% of those reports were fully documented as required.

Investigations Left Stalled and Unaddressed

One of the most troubling findings of the audit was the significant number of cases where the FBI did not take timely or adequate action in response to allegations of child sexual abuse. In one instance, the bureau received a tip about a registered sex offender allegedly involved in ongoing abuse but took over a year to initiate any substantive investigative action. During this period of inaction, the subject reportedly victimized at least one additional minor.

Sounds like an attempt to force Ubuntu users onto the Windoze platform.

I’ve looked round the various posts, some have had problems with the screen being blank but none reporting the same as mine.

Wolf Moon | Threat to Demonocracy

Can you download and reinstall the last version, after backing up your user accounts?

Wolf Moon | Threat to Demonocracy

PS – my advice to any other people using this, is to not upgrade prior to the election.

RAC

Plan is to save everything onto a big memory stick first. Then I can have a go at tinkering with it, not much hope of success there though. Probably buy
a new DVD or use the much older one I already have to re-install the previous ubuntu. I just like to use my machine I get no joy at all from messing with it. I just thank my lucky stars previous experience has taught me to have one to use, one as a standby and one as a second standby.

cthulhu

What kind of setup are you running, and how old is it?

What I did for the Fiancee’s desktop was pop out her old disk, pop in a new SSD, load the new OS from scratch onto the SSD, get it fully working, then install the old drive as drive #2, and copy the old home directory to the new SSD.

A new 1T SATA SSD is only about $60 these days — htt ps://www.ama zon.com/Western-Digital-SA510-Internal-Solid/dp/B09ZYQ84CM (this one’s $75, but I did no shopping).

cthulhu

If you are using a laptop, there is no room for a second disk inside, so your options are more limited. That’s why I was asking what sort of setup you have.

cthulhu

Along with thumbdrives using Ventoy, widgets like htt ps://www.amaz on.com/CLAVOOP-Adapter-Converter-External-Seagate/dp/B0CYLK9QFG are very handy. It allows you to connect a SATA hard disk to a USB port and has a separate power supply to spin the drive. This allows you to recover data off of drives that won’t boot (and, later, use them as backup drives).

cthulhu

You can find links to any distro’s ISO on http://www.distrowatch.com .

If you prepare a thumbdrive with Ventoy ( https://itsfoss.com/use-ventoy/ ), then you can load multiple ISO’s on it and boot from whichever one you want. You do not have to burn it to a DVD, Ventoy will just use the ISO file that you download. A 32G thumbdrive should hold at least six.

cthulhu

Just as a reminder, I want you to succeed.

cthulhu

I had video issues moving to the 6.8 kernel and had to revert.

I’ve got one computer running noble numbat and it is working fine….the rest are mostly jammy jellyfish that I haven’t gotten around to.

I’m not fond of the Ubuntu desktop, and haven’t been for a while, so I use Ubuntu MATE more often. Maybe you could try just loading a different desktop….

RAC

Thanks I’ll give that a try, tomorrow had enough of it for today.

cthulhu

For those who aren’t using Linux (yet)….

Linux distros (like Ubuntu, Fedora, Arch….) are curated collections of software. In this regard, they are more like Erector sets or Legos than fully-constructed toys. There is a picture on the box of how the pieces inside are supposed to look when assembled as per the instructions, but even the instructions might have some alternative versions.

In case you actually want to know what’s inside the box, I cannot recommend http://www.distrowatch.com highly enough. Pulling up Ubuntu, [ https://distrowatch.com/table.php?distribution=ubuntu ] and looking at the noble and jammy columns (I assume that RAC is comfortable enough with jammy), one finds that the GNOME desktop was “updated” from version 42 to version 46. That would likely explain things being moved around from their expected places*. Using a different GUI than GNOME (Ubuntu supports several, including Cinnamon, Budgie, MATE, Unity, Xfce, Plasma, LXQt, and possibly others) may help with this.

One also finds that linux (the kernel) was “updated” from 5.15 to 6.8. As noted, I also had video problems moving to a 6.8 kernel. When I was changing kernels, I used the Update Manager inside of Mint (which has the slickest kernel management I have found so far), so it was not within the jammy-to-noble context.

* I also found the following in the release notes:

Default app changes

The default Ubuntu Desktop installation is now minimal. There is still an “extended selection” option for those who prefer to have applications like LibreOffice and Thunderbird installed for the first boot.

In the extended install, the webcam app is now provided by GNOME Snapshot instead of Cheese

Games are no longer installed by default

RAC

Maybe I just don’t like change, for to me most of it seems change for change sake, and each one seems more alien than the one before it.

cthulhu

Normally, the LTS releases (jammy, noble) are reasonable. The in-between releases (kinetic, lunar, mantic) are where they seem to be trying things to try them.

kalbokalbs

…for to me most of it seems change for change sake…

^^^ Irritating as hell. ^^^

cthulhu

There is a certain amount of change for change’s sake, but much of the change is driven by circumstances.

As an example, if a Linux distro component is discovered to have a security issue, it will be invisibly logged on MITRE’s CVE index [ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Common_Vulnerabilities_and_Exposures ]. In a perfect world, the folks responsible for this component jump on getting a fix (as opposed to, say, MicroSerf….who is famous for letting them sit for years). Once the fix has been made, it is made available to all the distros that use that particular component, and the invisibility at CVE is turned off.

That means that anyone who hasn’t implemented the fix is vulnerable to a problem that might as well be published in the newspaper.

OTOH, there are some changes that are made for more stylistic reasons. Amusingly, these are the underlying driver for the confusing multitude of Linux distros.

As an example, when GNOME made a big revision from GNOME 2 to GNOME 3, many people considered this “a bridge too far” and refused to go along. Linux Mint was created to use Cinnamon, a near GNOME 2 clone. Ubuntu went with using Unity, their own interface. MATE was created to use MATE, a different near clone of GNOME 2.

To take another example, the startup program for most distros used to be init — which, coming from UNIX, was truly ancient. Ubuntu made their own, called Upstart. Most major distros changed over to Systemd during the 20-teens. That, however, was a bridge too far for Devuan, which was started in 2015 to cling to init (otherwise, it’s the same as Debian).

Everyone is sneaking up on a change from Xwindows to Wayland that will likely go through the same process.

Almost every change for stylistic reasons has thoroughly pissed-off someone-or-other, and — due to the nature of distros — they often copied all the “good parts” of a previous distro and went the other way on the change. This is known as “forking” — possibly because both groups would say “fork you!” after the split.

Last edited 13 days ago by cthulhu
cthulhu

It actually hearkens back to a fork in the road, and the group splitting so as to travel both sides.

Of course, that’s just trivia….a word that goes back to “tri via” or “three roads”.

In Roman times, any such fork in the road had a bulletin board where travelers could leave each other short messages. These messages were of such little lasting consequence that they were regarded as “trivia”.

Speaking of tarot, I think God has a sense of humor!

At our county fair, there are vendor booths of all kinds. And the way you get a booth is, they show you a map of where they are located, and you pick. All you know is a number; there are no identifiers as to who will be next door.

This year, there was a tarot-reader booth. Next door was a booth with tons of signs and literature asking “Do you know Jesus?”

God works in His ways for the good.

“The French publication Libération reveals some details of the arrest and initial interrogations of Telegram founder Pavel Durov.

“When Durov was taken into custody at the premises of the French National Customs Office for Combating Fraud, he, according to a source close to the investigation, showed a willingness to cooperate, handing over his mobile phone and even the access code,” the newspaper reported.

At the same time, the publication admits that he was prepared for such a turn of events and “did not appear worried” during his arrest.

During interrogations, Pavel Durov “pulled out his trump card and said that he had opened an official channel of communication with the French General Directorate of Internal Security (DGSI) in the fight against terrorism, with a hotline and a special email address. The exchange of information through this channel allegedly prevented several terrorist attacks.”

The billionaire added that France had begun to “unlawfully” send requests through this channel on topics not related to terrorism, which is why they went unanswered.

According to a source close to the investigation, Durov also claims that DGSI agents visited him in Dubai. But he refused to disclose the nature of the visit because it could be a state secret.”

Of your charity, please spare a prayer or good thought for my brother. I don’t know if he’s going to make it. Been on the phone for 2 days now with family members. Pardon the below — this really got to me. I TRIED TO WARN MY BROTHER AND MY SISTER.

Long story short: his wife died under terrible sudden circumstances 6 years ago. My brother went through all kinds of counseling, took some supervised Rx antidepressant drugs, then got himself together and all appeared to be doing OK.
Then, he contracted prostate cancer. Got treated. In remission. All appeared to be still doing OK.

Then, COVID hit.
In 2021, he started taking the modRNA COVID-19 “vaccines.”
By last Thanksgiving, he’d taken 4 or 5 injections (2 “primary series”, 1 or 2 of the “booster shots”, then the “2023-2024 Formula.”) I think he had COVID at least once after getting “vaccinated.” But recovered, and all appeared to be still doing OK.

Then, about 3 months ago, things started to go “awry.”
He suddenly decided that “he was getting too fat” (not true.) Put himself literally on a “starvation diet.” His daughter, an RN who lives close to him, was alarmed. Did everything she could to make sure he ate. No dice. It appears that he stopped taking care of himself. It appears that he stopped answering his cellphone, didn’t respond to texts. He began to lose interest in going anywhere.

Then, about a month ago, he had a sudden fall at home. Daughter tried his phone for 2 days. Finally called 911 and was with them when they broke down the door of his townhouse. Found him on the floor, his dog with him (both were alive, but barely.)
Brother was taken to the ER, admitted to the hospital. Initial brain scans were “clean.” Not much improvement in eating, in PT. After a stay in the hospital, he was then discharged to a nursing home. He can’t walk. Daughter is pushing the staff to get him all the help he can possibly get.

Here’s what Yours Truly suspects:
It’s the damned “vaccines” he took. They ALL cross the blood-brain barrier. They ALL have the potential to interfere with / damage brain synapses, the Central Nervous System, the cognitive abilities. They ALL can damage the emotional / psychological centers of the brain (hippocampus, etc.) They ALL have the potential to either induce “first-onset psychosis” after “vaccination”, or to aggravate existing mental health issues.
Bottom line: IMO, the “vaccines” my brother took induced some sort of cognitive dysfunction (this “I’m too fat” and going on the “starvation diet” thing.)
God help him.

First, my sympathies and prayers. 🙏

I am so sorry to hear this.

Secondly, I think you are right. I think the shots certainly did nothing to help, and may well have precipitated his decline.

If the shots don’t get you one way, they will get you another. I will bite my tongue briefly.

It is critical that family members know that a patient does not want COVID and/or flu shots, because nursing homes where these things are given routinely, will give the shots and finish off the troublesome non-socialist patient.

The COVID vaccine is Nazi euthanasia in a syringe, under the guise of helping the “useless eaters”. It’s ingenious, but it’s evil.

Poor man. I’m so sorry.

I agree with you about the vaxx psychosis. It could be early onset Alzheimer’s, which is definitely a vaxx-related diagnosis.
