Hope is our Anchor
In Hebrews 6:16–20, the biblical writer intends to instill steadfast hope in his readers to keep them from drifting about aimlessly through the Christian life. He does so by identifying three wholly reliable sources of hope as an anchor for the soul: God’s Word, God’s character, and God’s Son.
The Lord not only gives us the promise of salvation and eternal life (John 3:16), but He reinforces it by binding Himself with an oath “so that those who received the promise could be perfectly sure that He would never change His mind” (Hebrews 6:17, NLT). God’s Word and nature are rock solid. He is trustworthy, and “it is impossible for God to lie” (Hebrews 6:18). The dependability of God’s promise and His character bolster our faith so that we can “take hold of the hope set before us” and “be greatly encouraged” (verse 18).
“We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, where our forerunner, Jesus, has entered on our behalf. He has become a high priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek” (Hebrews 6:19–20). God’s Son, our Savior Jesus Christ, is a powerful and dependable anchor for our souls.
Our hope-inspired encouragement is based on the finished work of Christ. As our high priest, Jesus “has entered that greater, more perfect Tabernacle in heaven. . . . With his own blood—not the blood of goats and calves—he entered the Most Holy Place once for all time and secured our redemption forever” (Hebrews 9:11–12, NLT). Through his life, death, and resurrection, Jesus Christ has won the ultimate victory over sin and death for us (Colossians 2:14–15; Romans 6:9; 1 John 5:4). Because of Him, we have the promise of eternal life (1 John 2:25).
The anchor has been a symbol of hope among Christians since the days of the early church. (A Dictionary of Christian Antiquities, Vol. I, W. Smith & S. Cheetham, ed., London: John Murray, 1875, p. 81). The anchor metaphor emphasizes the stability and safety of Christ as our hope. The writer describes this hope as an anchor that is “firm and secure” (NIV), “sure and steadfast” (ESV), “strong and trustworthy” (NLT). A ship’s anchor allows the vessel to remain fixed and unmoving regardless of the conditions at sea. Our faith in Jesus Christ keeps us from becoming “like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind” (James 1:6).
Just as an anchor stops a ship from drifting with the winds and currents, keeping our eyes on the hope of heaven (2 Corinthians 4:16–18) and the “pioneer and perfector of our faith” (Hebrews 12:2), who is Jesus Christ, will prevent our souls from wavering and wandering in times of pressure and turmoil. God has “caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, who by God’s power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials” (1 Peter 1:3–6, ESV).
As believers, we have “a living hope” and “hope as an anchor” that holds secure because it is tethered to the steadfast Word of God and the unchanging, reliable character of God. He is faithful, and His promises are true (Joshua 21:45; Psalm 33:4; Hebrews 10:23). One commentator imagines the anchor’s rope extending “from heaven’s heights back down to earth, where faithful people can ‘seize the hope set before us.’ Like rock climbers scaling an imposing height, Christians steady themselves by trusting God’s promises, holding on for dear life to this cord of hope” (Long, T., Hebrews, John Knox Press, 1997, p. 78). With Jesus Christ as our anchor, no power of darkness and no earthly opposition can harm us (Romans 8:31–34).
We live with hope because we possess the Holy Spirit inside us as a guarantee of our redemption and full adoption as sons and daughters of God (Romans 8:23–25; Ephesians 1:11–14). When this “earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands. Meanwhile we groan, longing to be clothed instead with our heavenly dwelling . . . so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life. Now the one who has fashioned us for this very purpose is God, who has given us the Spirit as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come” (2 Corinthians 5:1–5).
The hope set before us as an anchor of our soul is that Jesus Christ has already gone before us into the holy of holies where God dwells in glory. God’s Word promises that we will be with Him there one day. That future reality is already secured by the finished work of Jesus, our High Priest. He is also our Great Shepherd who “through the blood of the eternal covenant” equips us “with everything good for doing his will” while we are on earth (Hebrews 13:20–21; see also Ephesians 2:8–10). This hope as an anchor holds us steady in this life and secure in the future because it is firmly attached to the eternal throne of God.

The one thing I do have to ask, is whether it was edited unfairly, but I believe it’s all part of the same discussion, about when she went after parents of truant kids.
So if it’s NOT – if they spliced and diced things to make them look worse, that’s not good. But if those were all part of the same discussion, then it’s fair game to edit it so that we realize this – that she was being her valley girl self about jailing parents. I have seen some of the clips out of any context. If context is being added back here, that is totally devastating.
NOW – here is an interesting point. There were allegations of an ABC whistleblower saying that one of Kakula’s conditions for her ABC interview was that she not be asked about her time as DA in San Francisco. THAT would make tons of sense, if the Dems were very fearful about this issue – the arrest of parents. But at the same time, we find that the guy who released that – meaning Black Insurrectionist – became unreliable when he went after that Tim Walz pedo story.
My hunch is that he was baited into bullshit on Walz pedo, as a way of disarming both scandals.
The question of whether that ABC whistleblower exists, is potentially independent of any question about the legitimacy or veracity of Black Insurrectionist. All I can say is that I have strong suspicions that Black Insurrectionist was “taken down” by the Demmunists, and the ABC whistleblower stuff, real or fake, may or may not be part of that.
The water is muddied, unfortunately. Just as the Dems want it.
Meanwhile, JD Vance is tearing them up on legitimate performance weakness.

By the same token, IMO, if BI was skewing things at all, then he deserved to be taken down. If there is a whistleblower for either or both of his stories, that person/those people could still come forward. The Rogan interview confirmed how lovable this man is, and I truly admire and respect him. And love him. He is our avatar. That is good enough for me.
During the interview, when he discussed the personnel he hired for the first administration, Trump came as close as he ever will to admitting weakness and mistake.
I recall clearly that many of us (me included) were confident that Trump had almost perfect knowledge of the people he was hiring. IIRC, we could not even conceive otherwise.
But we were wrong, and he says as much to Rogan.
I believe Trump is a compassionate man, and that he loves others as a Christian does in the imitation of Christ. Because of that trait alone, I do not believe Trump will go on a rampage of punishment . Plus, Trump (IMO) is a cost cutter, and punishment is costly. I may be reading too much into things, but that is just my sense of him.
OTOH, the lack of punishment is also costly, and I believe Trump knows that now, and will have a better grasp of who is who, incuding who needs to be punished for the common good.

I have the same problem with some of the guest hosts on Warroom. Even Bannon himself sometimes. What also annoys me is Warrooom’s inability to run remotes really well while it depends on them.
Later in the show you will see that Rogan is interested in a conversation, not a formal interview. He will make his preference clear when they talk about Presidential debates. Interruptions and talk-overs are part of normal conversation, that is what Rogan is after. It brings to mind the cafes of Europe when dissidents and idealogues would debate political theory. Staged interviews and answers can hide what and how the person of interest really thinks and how he reasons and processes information. Elon Musk is a good example. When he is asked a question, he will, sometimes, close his eyes and be silent for 10 seconds or longer while he organizes his answer. To me, that implies that he is thinking about the answer, and it is not some canned response. I suppose it is a matter of taste, but I like that approach.

She told me about their commenting system & it allows her to keep track of the comments she’s made, including her favorite one, “Jesus Loves You!” She said it had had 2 down votes & no up votes. She checked again & now it has 2 up votes & 6 down votes. Huh?
Who gets offended by “Jesus Loves You!”??? I could see people down voting “you’re a sinner headed straight to Hell if you don’t accept Jesus as Lord & Savior” but not “Jesus Loves You!”

Well I guess technically that is true, per the scripture. I guess the second phrase is maybe more associated with “fundamentalist” Bible thumpers who are proclaiming hellfire & brimstone but seem to have the Love of God in short supply.
It’s a complex topic. God is holy & to enter His Kingdom one must be without sin. That standard is Impossible for man to meet so God provided the way “the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world” knowing that only through Christ’s shed blood would any human be able to enter into Paradise.
God’s love, however, doesn’t negate His holiness. There is some biblically balanced approach where we can “love the sinner, but hate the sin”. So we won’t just excuse sin & justify it, like many on the left do with aberrations, like sexual perversions. But at the same time we also recognize that we are all subject to the weakness & temptations of the flesh.
In Jesus’ earthly life he ate with “the publicans & the sinners” which is something that “holy men” of the times did not do. I believe He said that it was “the sick who need the doctor” & He set an example how we were to follow in His footsteps & reach out to a lost & hurting world with God’s love AND with His truth.
This passage reminds us that we can stumble even as we try to help others.

Some aspects of the second paragraph here seem to align with the way that you, Steve, try to teach us things, & might make sense to you 🙂
Theories about Christ’s death are not Christianity: they are explanations about how it works. Christians would not all agree as to how important these theories are. My own church-the Church of England-does not lay down any one of them as the right one. The Church of Rome goes a bit further. But I think they will all agree that the thing itself is infinitely more important than any explanations that theologians have produced. I think they would probably admit that no explanation will ever be quite adequate to the reality. But as I said in the preface to this book, I am only a layman, and at this point we are getting into deep water. I can only tell you, for what it is worth, how I, personally, look at the matter.
On my view the theories are not themselves the thing you are asked to accept. Many of you no doubt have read Jeans or Eddington. What they do when they want to explain the atom, or something of that sort, is to give you a description out of which you can make a mental picture. But then they warn you that this picture is not what the scientists actually believe. What the scientists believe is a mathematical formula. The pictures are there only to help you to understand the formula. They are not really true in the way the formula is; they do not give you the real thing but only something more or less like it. When I was growing up, I was thought to be a sickly child. Then I went away to college and my health dramatically improved. When I came home for the summer, I got sick all the time. Oddly, nobody else ever caught the disease that I had, nor did I seem to catch it from anyone.
Showing that college can actually educate, I figured out that I was allergic to things around my parents’ house, particularly including dogs and cats. I also had serious allergies at the end of October and the end of May.
I’m currently having an end of October allergy attack, and it’s a doozy.
But if you’re not in your parents’ house, and in an abode in which you control, what could be causing it?

Once I wasn’t “sick” all the time from being at my parents place, my remaining “illness” fell on a regular schedule.

I, too, suffer from seasonal allergies. And allergies to dust. And certain molds. And hay. And, and, and.
However, I thank God often that I have no food allergies whatsoever.

If you use honey, try to use some produced locally to you, if you can. It really helps with pollen allergies.
