2025·02·15 We Will Have Justice Daily Thread

What is it that feeds our battle, yet starves our victory?

January 6 Tapes?

Where are the tapes? Anyone, Anyone? Bueller? Johnson??

Paging Speaker Johnson…this is your conscience calling you out on broken promises.

Evading Reality

Many things the Left believes are simply not true. Right now the focus is on the size and scope of our government, and the many many billions of dollars the government has been spending on no-one-knew-what. None of that money is going to a key role of government. Which, after all, has the sole purpose of protecting rights.

And if you, Leftist Lurker, want to dismiss this as dead white cis-male logic…well, you can call it what you want, but then please just go fuck off. No one here buys that bullshit–logic is logic and facts are facts regardless of skin color–and if you gave it a moment’s rational thought, you wouldn’t either. Of course your worthless education never included being able to actually reason–or detect problems with false reasoning–so I don’t imagine you’ll actually wake up as opposed to being woke.

As Ayn Rand would sometimes point out: Yes, you are free to evade reality. What you cannot do is evade the consequences of evading reality. Or to put it concretely: You can ignore the Mack truck bearing down on you as you play in the middle of the street, you won’t be able to ignore the consequences of ignoring the Mack truck.

And Ayn Rand also pointed out that existence (i.e., the sum total of everything that exists) precedes consciousness–our consciousnesses are a part of existence, not outside of it–therefore reality cannot be a “social construct” as so many of you fucked-up-in-the-head people seem to think.

So much for Leftist douchebag lurkers. For the rest of you, the regular readers and those lurkers who understand such things, well here we go for another week of WINNING against the Deep State.

I confess that the novelty has not worn off.

Justice Must Be Done.

The prior election must be acknowledged as fraudulent, and steps must be taken to prosecute the fraudsters and restore integrity to the system.

Yes, we won this time around. Not only did we win, we got to KEEP that win instead of having it stolen from us.

But no one should imagine that that’s the end of electoral fraud. Much work needs to be done to ensure it doesn’t just happen again next time around. And incidentally to rescue those states currently in the grips of self-perpetuating fraud, where the people who stole the last election, make sure it’s easier to steal the next one.

This issue, though it’s not front-and-center right now, is not going away, and if we ignore it, we’ll pay the price. See the article above about the consequences of evading reality.

Lawyer Appeasement Section

OK now for the fine print.

This is the WQTH Daily Thread. You know the drill. There’s no Poltical correctness, but civility is a requirement. There are Important Guidelines,  here, with an addendum on 20191110.

We have a new board – called The U Tree – where people can take each other to the woodshed without fear of censorship or moderation.

And remember Wheatie’s Rules:

1. No food fights
2. No running with scissors.
3. If you bring snacks, bring enough for everyone.
4. Zeroth rule of gun safety: Don’t let the government get your guns.
5. Rule one of gun safety: The gun is always loaded.
5a. If you actually want the gun to be loaded, like because you’re checking out a bump in the night, then it’s empty.
6. Rule two of gun safety: Never point the gun at anything you’re not willing to destroy.
7. Rule three: Keep your finger off the trigger until ready to fire.
8. Rule the fourth: Be sure of your target and what is behind it.

(Hmm a few extras seem to have crept in.)

Spot Prices.

Kitco Ask. Last week:

Gold $2,861.10
Silver $31.89
Platinum $984.00
Palladium $990.00
Rhodium $5,025.00
FRNSI* 137.406-
Gold:Silver 89.718-

This week, markets closed as of 3PM MT.

Gold $2,883.10
Silver $32.22
Platinum $984.00
Palladium $992.00
Rhodium $4,975.00
FRNSI* 138.470-
Gold:Silver 89.482-

Gold went up nicely this week and closed in the 2920s Thursday. And then it got beaten with the ugly stick on Friday, dropping 45.60. Although silver took a hit on Friday, also, it wasn’t as bad so this week we see the gold:silver ratio dropping just a bit. Still it’s nowhere near the 83-ish range it was in not so long ago.

*The SteveInCO Federal Reserve Note Suckage Index (FRNSI) is a measure of how much the dollar has inflated. It’s the ratio of the current price of gold, to the number of dollars an ounce of fine gold made up when the dollar was defined as 25.8 grains of 0.900 gold. That worked out to an ounce being $20.67+71/387 of a cent. (Note gold wasn’t worth this much back then, thus much gold was $20.67 71/387ths. It’s a subtle distinction. One ounce of gold wasn’t worth $20.67 back then, it was $20.67.) Once this ratio is computed, 1 is subtracted from it so that the number is zero when the dollar is at its proper value, indicating zero suckage.

The Final Experiment Fallout

The fallout continues.

Jeran is now a glober. To those who have been following this for years (and no, I am not one of them), it’s simply stunning; they could never have imagined it. Austin Witsit has been trying to figure out how he got “fooled” which means he is looking for excuses to remain a flat Earther. It’s an interesting study in psychology. They both saw the same things. One had an epiphany, the other is burrowing deeper into the bullshit that the sights ought to have blasted away.

But of late something else has caught my attention. A South African who goes by the name “Flatzoid” is running hard to be the most obliviously stupid person on the face of the Earth. And yes he has quite a bit of competition from a lot of people on the Left, but from what I see he is up to the challenge.

[Take for instance the fact that he is South African, yet hasn’t noticed that the sun doesn’t rise and set where it should (i.e., to the northeast and northwest) if flat Earth were correct. He once even attempted to measure its sunrise position, and did so on video so people could see he was using a method guaranteed to introduce error. Sure enough he got an answer a few degrees off, loudly trumpeted that the globe earth couldn’t make the prediction…and ignored the fact it was many times further off any conceivable flat earth prediction. Not that they actually make predictions that aren’t just copying off of Globe Earth’s paper during the test.]

It’s referred to as the “upper left” award by the globe defenders; this is an allusion to the Dunning-Kruger effect, which is commonly depicted on a graph like this:

The “upper left” is the peak of stupid but confident, or even arrogant. In this case Flatzoid has accused people far more knowledgeable than he is of being incompetent, and has said so to them in online meetings and debates.

In the case I’m thinking of his target is an Aussie engineer (with almost the same education background that I have), who goes online by “Critical Think” (which makes it very hard to find his channel).

This video is a reaction by an engineer, to the debate between Fkatzoid and Critical Think.

(Warning: You are about to see the worst case of Dunning-Kruger ever. Fkatzoid has no comprehension of the experiment, no actual conception of what it means to control variables, no conception of measurement error, and is so smugly confident he knows more than Critical Think that it can be infuriating at times.)

Flatzoid was on the list to be invited to The Final Experiment, but complained (as his excuse not to go) that he never received an invite. Will Duffy told him (in a livestream) that that was because his email did not appear on his youtube channel page. Flatzoid hastily went to add it so he could claim it had been there all along, but fatfingered his name and it showed as fkatzoid@<whatever the provider was>, so now he’s often called fkatzoid by Globe defenders.

Critical Think was not only invited, but actually did go on the Final Experiment. And he did something very interesting. He brought a very accurate electronic scale with him, along with its test weights. He has been taking those things to various places (like Malaysia), himself lives in (IIRC) Brisbane Australia, and had it with him in Chile–Santiago and Puntas Arenas. And of course Union Glacier camp in Antarctica.

What was he hoping to prove? He was hoping to validate the WGS-84 model of the Earth’s shape. Earth is a very slightly oblate spheroid (not enough so to look “squashed” in pictures–in fact proportionately speaking it easily meets the specs for cue balls) on account of its rotation. This has two effects on the gravity: 1. At the poles you are closer to the center of the Earth than you are at the equator, so you should feel very slightly stronger gravity. 2. The centrifugal effect of the rotating earth should reduce the net gravity on the equator, because the centrifugal effect partly counteracts the pull of the Earth’s mass. #2 is by far the larger of these two effects.

How does one check this? By measuring the force of gravity in different places using the same masses.

You can do this with a scale…but it has to be the right kind of scale. And you have to know how to use it.

And in order for this to make sense, you must understand the distinction between weight and mass. Which Flatzoid clearly does not.

Mass is the amount of “stuff” in an object, and it manifests as a resistance to forces applied to it. You can feel this by trying to push on objects. (Don’t try to lift them for this part.) To wipe out the effect of friction, pick the object up, hold it in your hand, then move your hand toward or away from you. If the object is massive enough you’ll definitely feel it “resisting” the force you’re applying.

This resistance is the same everywhere. Here on Earth. Anywhere on earth. In outer space. You’d feel it even in orbit on the ISS. The Moon. Mars. Jupiter (if there were a surface to stand on). And so on. The same.

Weight on the other hand is the force exerted on the object. The weight of something is actually the force with which it is being pulled, by the Earth.

This is why you can weigh differently on (say) the Earth and the Moon, even without a trip to the bathroom on the way from one to the other, in other words, even though your mass stays the same. The force exerted by gravity is different, and weight is the force.

The distinction usually doesn’t matter for us “groundhogs” here on Earth. Hence there’s a tendency even for STEM people working their STEM jobs to conflate the two. Pounds are actually a unit of force, but it’s not hard to find references to something called “pounds mass” in, say, rocketry, where a lot of the industry stuck with the US Customary System until fairly recently–it’s the mass that on the surface of the earth weighs one pound. (Oh and by the way our customary system is not the “imperial” system as I’ve heard many people call it lately: if you don’t believe that note the difference in volume measurements. A US gallon is smaller than an Imperial one.) So it’s quite correct to say that 100 lb (when she is on Earth) woman weighs 16.5 lbs on the Moon.

The kilogram, the SI unit, is actually a unit of mass. But people are happy to talk about things weighing a kilogram, really meaning (whether they realize it or not): weighing as much as a kilogram does on Earth. (The SI unit of force is the Newton, and to be truly correct, a kilogram of mass weighs 9.8 Newtons. But absolutely no one makes a scale reading in Newtons, though pressure measurements (“pounds per square inch” to us) and torque do reference Newtons.)

Let’s not forget we’re eventually getting back to Fkatzoid vs. Critical Think.

There are two ways to measure “weight” (one of them actually measures mass). 1) A balance beam scale. This is the conceptually simplest variant:

This works by comparing the force exerted by gravity on whatever it is you want to weigh, against the force exerted on known weights. If the two pans are in balance (as indicated by the long vertical bar pointing up from the pivot point), the two forces are equal, and therefore the two weights are equal. For this kind of scale, though, there’s a bonus: You also know the two masses are equal. It can actually be used to measure mass. It would work if you took it to the Moon; the mass of your object would be the same as the mass of the known weights in the other pan, and you will get the same reading.

There are more complex versions of this, including ones with sliding weights where the known weight is moved closer or farther, to balance things like having people of two different weights on a seesaw. The lighter one has to move further out.

If you remember those scales at your doctor’s office with the sliding weights, that’s this kind of scale; it’s set up so that you “hang” from a place very close to the pivot, while the sliding weights are further away; they therefore exert more leverage and a balance can be struck without actually putting something as heavy as you are on the balance beam.

The second kind of scale essentially measures the compression or stretching of a spring (or some other device sensitive to force) caused by gravity pulling on whatever it is you’re weighing.

Springs (et. all.) do their thing in response to a force, so these scales measure force. Take a 1 kilogram mass and a scale like this (that reads off in kg though it should technically read off in Newtons) to the moon and it will read 165.4 grams, not 1000 grams. That’s because it’s really measuring a force then, under the assumption it’s being used in Earth’s gravity, converting to read in kilograms. (If you are ever in such a situation, don’t be fooled into thinking the mass has changed.)

Your bathroom scale, the scale you use to measure ingredients in the kitchen, the scale at the deli and the scale at the post office are all this type (unless you’re like me and bought a used medical scale). If you reload you may have a balance beam scale of some type for the powder.

OK, so now to Critical Think’s experiment. He has a scale…of the second type, and it came with a kilogram mass.

Normally, you’d set up the scale, turn it on, make sure it zeros…and then you calibrate it. How? you put the kilogram mass on it, and push a button, which tells it that the force it is detecting right now is from local gravity acting on a one kilogram mass. It’s then smart enough to know what to do if it feels twice that force: it will tell you that what you’ve put on the scale has a mass of two kilograms. Likewise for any other mass: read out in proportion to that force which it has been taught means there’s a mass of one kilogram.

Why the need to calibrate the scale? Because if you don’t, it will be thrown off by the slight differences in the Earth’s gravitational field. Mountaintops, latitude, depressions like Death Valley or the Dead Sea, etc. will all change the force ever so slightly, and by calibrating the scale, you get it to correct for that.

What if you move the scale to another location, and don’t calibrate it? Your mass readings will be off by a bit, because the force you measure isn’t the same. It’s a small amount, a few hundredths of a gram per kilogram, but nonetheless measurable by Critical Think’s scale.

So this is what he did: He calibrated the scale at home. So in his house, the weights read 1000 g. He then takes the scale and weights somewhere else, and repeats the measurement without calibrating the scale. So the 1 kilogram mass now weighs a bit more or a bit less, and the difference is actually due to the difference in gravity.

On returning home, you weight your kilogram mass again to make sure the scale actually did hold its initial calibration. If the scale doesn’t read 1000 g again, something actually fell out of adjustment in the scale.

Critical Think’s data (multiple weighings of the known mass at each site), by the time you do the stats work that every scientist must do with their data, confirms the WGS-84 ellipsoid combined with the rotation of the Earth.

But it’s key: for this to work, you must not calibrate the scale at the other locations. Otherwise all you’ve done is show that the scale will report 1000g every time you calibrate it.

This is totally, completely beyond Fkatzoid’s comprehension. He insists that because Critical Think did not calibrate the scale at each location, the entire experiment is worthless–oblivious to the fact that the point of the experiment was to use the same calibration in different areas.

Furthermore Fkatzoid has no conception of measurement error. Critical Think took multiple readings at each location, and averaged them. This is standard operating procedure when taking data, because of measurement error. However, when this came out in the conversation, that the multiple readings had all been slightly different from each other, Fkatzoid triumphantly declared all of the data worthless, because it wasn’t “repeatable.”

And finally, Fkatzoid insists that temperature and humidity are factors that must be taken into account. Why? Because. Because what? Because. It turns out that Critical Think actually checked these beforehand, by varying the temperature and humidity at home and seeing what effect they had on the scale (by again, calibrating once then measuring under different temperatures and pressures–and noting that they had no significant effect, so he could from that point forward ignore them so long as he stayed within the operating temperature range of the scale. This point, too, is completely lost on Fkatzoid.

He’s trying to argue about basic science with an experienced engineer. Not that experienced engineers are automatically right by any means, nor are they necessarily geniuses. But engineering is where the scientific rubber meets the road in a way that’s visible to everyone. All branches of engineering must study and understand physics at a bare minimum (many branches have to go into other disciplines like chemistry as well), and they must apply it to solve real-world problems.

If the physics they understand doesn’t have a close relationship to reality, their solutions can’t work. And sometimes they “don’t work” badly enough to kill people. The Romans knew this. Their engineers would have to stand under the arches they designed, as the blocking for construction was removed. If the engineer had messed up…he died. Better him than someone who had trusted him.

There are certainly plenty of examples of engineering failures in history. (Engineers get to learn about them!) But even those who fail when pushing the envelope understand the basics.

Fkatzoid never had to learn any science past the third grade level (complete with all of the oversimplifications made to get the basic concept across) and it shows here. I don’t think I’ve every seen someone more obliviously but arrogantly ignorant than Fkatzoid.

And in the wake of the Final Experiment, he’s one of the leaders of the Flat Earth movement.

Some days I play parts of my day back in the movie in my head and I realize how ignorant I was in some situation and I just feel so sad about it. I can only imagine that I am ignorant more often than I realize. Maybe it’s like a number line where we are all on the continuum of ignorance, but some of us are more likely to realize it than others. The hardest part of realizing it is also being aware it will continue to be a danger for the rest of our lives.

I like that you gave all the steps this engineer took to be as careful as possible to avoid the traps of ignorance.

Boy, do I feel you there!

Sometimes it IS downright scary, the things I don’t know. The scariest are when I am told something by someone I respect and trust, question it later, do my research, and realize they were WRONG! This has happened to me a couple of times in Bible study. People think they KNOW something about Scripture, but when you look into their belief, it’s way off.

Wolf Moon | Threat to Demonocracy

Just had to deal with this. Immediately went to my phone to check both scripture and commentary – no – No – NO – EMPHATICALLY NO – to say nothing of common sense.

When the logical conclusion of something is “There may not be a God” – sorry – I’m not even getting on that bus!

Fortunately I was dealing with a layperson – probably led astray by wokesters (or more subtly, by trying to sell to woke young people). If I had heard this crap from a pastor, priest or rabbi, I would have to say heretic or even satanic embed.

Ultimately, all this stuff leads to straight-up denial of God. Easy test – if it leads there – if it leads to ANY degree of denial of God – it’s WRONG.

This is why I judge churches by the presence of Bibles in the pews (because Bibles are much more permissible to be in hand than phones during sermons). When I hear the unbelievable, I CHECK.

If we have allowed the Holy Spirit to train us to listen with our heart then we can walk closely to the Truth.

1 John 2

18 Dear children, this is the last hour; and as you have heard that the antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come. This is how we know it is the last hour. 19 They went out from us, but they did not really belong to us. For if they had belonged to us, they would have remained with us; but their going showed that none of them belonged to us.

20 But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and all of you know the truth.[e] 21 I do not write to you because you do not know the truth, but because you do know it and because no lie comes from the truth. 22 Who is the liar? It is whoever denies that Jesus is the Christ. Such a person is the antichrist—denying the Father and the Son. 23 No one who denies the Son has the Father; whoever acknowledges the Son has the Father also.

24 As for you, see that what you have heard from the beginning remains in you. If it does, you also will remain in the Son and in the Father. 25 And this is what he promised us—eternal life.

26 I am writing these things to you about those who are trying to lead you astray.27 As for you, the anointing you received from him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things and as that anointing is real, not counterfeit—just as it has taught you, remain in him.

TheseTruths

…in order for this to make sense, you must understand the distinction between weight and mass. Which Flatzoid clearly does not.

And yet Flatzoid and others like him, regarding other subject matters as well, refuses to realize he’s talking with someone who knows his subject matter, has no curiosity about what is being said, won’t do his own research, and won’t listen and learn. Instead he doubles down on stupid. I don’t understand what kind of mental block allows this.

Wolf Moon | Threat to Demonocracy

Once people discover how well and easily bullshitting works, it becomes a very hard tool to put down.

There is a much different level of satisfaction between making tailored bullshit arguments that convince the other person in a discussion, and a REAL argument that stands on its own, convincing people who may be smarter than the person making the argument. Ah, that is the way school is SUPPOSED to work – to expose people to that difference.

This is why Jeran just admitting that he saw the midnight sun in Antarctica makes me respect him more as a SCIENTIST than PhDs and MDs who dodge and cover up for problematic vaccines.

That’s where you get the guys licence and ask the cops to look into him. With that mind set you KNOW he is a criminal of some sort.

Robert Baker

That reminds me of a story told by one of my relatives. This relative was married but then divorced to someone who advised his children about littering while driving. He apparently advised the children to throw their trash out in good neighborhoods only, on the theory that the residents of good neighborhoods would pick up the trash. I still haven’t decided if there is something noble hiding somewhere in that advice.

One man’s trash is another man’s measure…..

I still haven’t decided if there is something noble hiding somewhere in that advice.

I keep looking for something noble — under it, on top of it, through it, around it — but can’t find any. You take responsibility for your own trash, period. 🙃

Robert Baker

I was wondering if he might be a closet environmentalist who had a guilty streak about littering that wasn’t quite strong enough to overcome his laziness.

pgroup2

I can see it now – a car tooling down the street, trash flying out the windows.

Accompanied by a chorus singing This is Our Compliment to Your Neighborhood.

I’m sure the audience will be appreciative.

Wolf Moon | Threat to Demonocracy

Have to agree – and particularly with the unqualified version. Even when others say “you should be proud” – pride is dangerous – or even particularly dangerous. I have to say that the “Jeep” marketeers knew their market when they used exactly that POV in the Harrison Ford Super Bowl advertisement. “Pride is a terrible driver” is what he said, IIRC.

Firefly

Steve, Thank you for clearly explaining the distinction between weight and mass, and how scales work!⚖️⚖️⚖️

Wolf Moon | Threat to Demonocracy

Flat Earth has peeled so far away from the need to convince neutral normies, that they simply don’t engage on the basics. The faith (b/c that’s what it is) literally depends on half-believers walking in through the door, already having thrown away some portion of normal skepticism.

Your point about “no curiosity” is critical, because that is what is SHARED with radical vax defenders who cannot be roused to look at shocker data which tells us something was wrong with mRNA, spike protein vax, etc., etc. One cannot know about the Pandemrix vaccines positively known to have caused narcolepsy, the rise of autism, and how neurological damage from vaccines works, and not be CURIOUS if neurological damage is a more general problem of induced immunity. It’s ALL THERE to have a powerful general theory of vaccination, genetics, and neurological childhood injury. Failure to be curious about Nobel-level science? Something is WRONG.

Wolf Moon | Threat to Demonocracy

Interesting! And that seems to be a common theme among such belief systems – that they “top out” at some point of confrontation. It’s very similar to Scientology, Morris/Gish YEC, and maybe even HerbaLife. They seem unstoppable – snowballing – and then they’re stopped by a small display of rock-hard truth.

Locally, a nearby shopping center has about 12 Tesla charging stations behind the grocery store. The people going to/from the EVs just don’t seem happy or even healthy looking. They look frazzled. I wonder if they bought their car with a vision for something they didn’t end up getting.

TheseTruths

I wonder if they bought their car with a vision for something they didn’t end up getting.

If so, it’s inexplicable to me. The car has to be charged, which means the driver is dependent on charging stations that might be hard to find, might not work, or might have a waiting line. They knew from the outset that charging takes time, so I don’t know what they tought they were getting. Being “environmentally conscious” might not offset the hassles.

RAC

On the fewer moving parts theme. why not have a gas turbine coupled to an alternator constantly charging a much smaller and lighter battery and simultaneously powering to the electric drive motor.
Gas turbine providing just enough power for normal steady driving with the battery providing the extra as required for accelerating going up inclines etc.

cthulhu

You mean, the way locomotives have been doing things since the 1950’s?

I have no idea.

RAC

I have zero knowledge about locomotives.

para59r

There really big and that might be what the car engineers are trying to avoid.

Sort of like a hybrid, which has been around for quite a while, I think, as my “outdoorsy” aunt has driven one for Many years.

Wolf Moon | Threat to Demonocracy

If Trump truly and openly liberates AMERICAN COAL – and we’re honest that EVs are basically coal-powered vehicles – perhaps the “ideological” portion of the EV base can “flip to the truth”. If I thought coal power was assured for the next 12 years, I would much more seriously consider an EV.

Wolf Moon | Threat to Demonocracy

And yet he’s talking about liberating energy. So is he just liberating, and letting the market decide?

BTW, I’m seeing a lot of moving coal on the railroads lately. JUST SAYIN’.

Gail Combs

I see an EV as a niche market for cities where you do not want the gas exhaust fumes.

wowohwow1528

They could trailer a team of draft horses just in case, as a back-up. LOL

scott467

I don’t know why anyone would charge away from home unless they’re driving more than the maximum distance a full charge will take them.

They can charge their car overnight, while they sleep.

wowohwow1528

The Meijers in Roseville Michigan has two banks of those stations. I park away from them … in case they bow up. I don’t need any help wrecking a car I did that already in July this year, that’s enough for the next decade or so.

Bow up? Yeah/no … blow up … KABOOM 💥

Yep…. EVs are definitely a sinking ship 😀

«Mind virus» is a good term for the weird idée-fixe that the «give my heart» gesture that Elon Musk did somehow was a Nazi salute. So there are all kinds of virtue-signallers giving up their Tesla, and there have been some of the socialists having put warning notices, resembling parking tickets, on Teslas, explaining that Musk is a Nazi and therefore the owner of the car is, by some kind of daft guilt-by-association logic.

Trying to argue with examples of pictures of Obama, Pelosi, Warren, Bush, and whoever else showing the same outreached arm gesture, brings accusations of «taken outside of context» from some anonymous entities calling themselves «independent fact-checkers», yet if calling the same thing that Elon Musk did something «Nazi», isn’t taking that out of context?

Sauce for the goose sauce for the gander.

It’s so damn stupid the whole thing. Mind virus indeed. It is almost as if the NPCs have had a bad software update, «Tesla Nazi Equivalence», replacing the previous varieties of «orange man bad» and others. Maybe some of the pearl-clutching taking place after JD Vance’s illumination of the EU-critters, will change that.

pgroup2

The NPCs are a bad software update. Just saying.

For anyone dealing with infections, you might find this next part of a Vitamin C paper I quoted late yesterday of interest. The text is also an example of how researchers test their theories by designing experiments and analyzing their results.

Restoring Vitamin C Synthesis

Polyphenols are common plant metabolites found in many different fruits and vegetables, as well as coffee and tea. Over 8,000 different polyphenols have been identified, providing a defense against plant pathogens, largely because of their antioxidant properties. [73] Their presence in the human diet also confers antipathogen effects, along with protective effects against heart disease, diabetes, and cancer, as well as many other medical conditions. [74-79] These polyphenols are also considered to be key agents in modulating the epigenetic factors that promote age-related deterioration and cancer. [80-83]

In a landmark article, it was shown that the daily supplementation with 45 mg of the polyphenol hydroxytyrosol (HT) markedly increased vitamin C blood levels in 14 healthy volunteers. The primary goal of the study was to establish the safety of HT supplementation, and a wide range of blood parameters were examined, including vitamin C blood levels. While the degree of vitamin C response in all of the study subjects was not identical, the average vitamin C blood level fully doubled at both the 4-week and 8-week point of daily HT administration relative to initial baseline measurements. Furthermore, no negative impacts were seen in a wide array of other biochemical, hematological, vitamin, or mineral parameters that were also measured. The increased vitamin C levels singularly stood out. [84]

HT is found in significant amounts in both olive mill waste and virgin olive oil, and it is also a potent antioxidant by itself in addition to the effects it has on vitamin C blood levels. [85] Multiple studies have documented its positive effects along with other olive oil polyphenols on blood pressure, blood lipids, platelet aggregation, blood clotting, and inflammation in general. [86-89] A rabbit study looking at supplementation with HT alone documented an improvement in blood lipids, along with an improved antioxidant status and a reduction in the size of atherosclerotic lesions. [90] In vitro cell studies have also shown that HT can work as an iron chelator, decreasing its toxic impact. [91,92]

In a small unpublished study, a supplement with olive leaf extract containing 50 mg of HT administered daily increased vitamin C blood levels between 50% and 200% in five volunteers after taking it for only a week. Furthermore, in four of the five subjects a clear-cut elevation in those blood levels was seen the day after the first dose. And while the blood levels were not followed over an extensive period of time, significant increases in vitamin C blood levels were still seen 10 days after the stopping of the HT supplement, which had been given daily for a 2-week period.

Regardless of the underlying mechanism, the ability of a properly-dosed HT supplement to elevate blood vitamin C levels in only a day in four of five subjects certainly raises exciting clinical possibilities. It certainly suggests that the treatment of acute infectious and toxic conditions could be given a significant therapeutic boost for most individuals who promptly consume high doses of a quality olive leaf extract upon getting ill. As many patients simply do not want to be bothered with the inconvenience and expense of taking a supplement regularly on a long-term basis, the ability to quickly give a prompt assist to internal vitamin C levels appears to be another highly positive feature of such supplementation.

In a small experiment looking at the impact of a large toxin exposure on vitamin C levels in the authors who had been ingesting daily supplementation containing 50 mg of HT for an extended period of time, a striking outcome was realized. The toxin chosen was alcohol to the point of inebriation, with documentation of the peak alcohol blood levels achieved. The first vitamin C levels obtained upon the documentation of high blood alcohol showed a clear and prompt depression. However, the vitamin C levels then dramatically rose and stayed significantly higher for at least 18 hours after the alcohol ingestion. Symptomatically, both subjects felt exceptionally well the following morning, and there was a complete absence of malaise or any other symptoms associated with a hangover. Prior to this small experiment a less quantitative experiment was conducted on just one subject (TL), showing an equally dramatic rise in vitamin C blood levels following the stimulus of a large alcohol intake, except that the elevated blood levels were approximated by vitamin C urine dipstick testing. And as with the blood testing experiment, the urine dipstick indicated a persistent and striking vitamin C elevation for roughly 24 hours.

When a large infectious/toxin presence floods the circulation, an acute depression of vitamin C levels will always occur, as whatever circulating vitamin C is present will be rapidly consumed/oxidized. In the genetically deficient human liver, no new synthesis of vitamin C will ensue and the vitamin C levels will proceed to stay low or even become undetectable. However, upon detecting the presence of this acute oxidative presence in the blood not being quickly extinguished by the existing levels of vitamin C, the normally-functioning liver promptly starts making vitamin C in sufficient amounts to neutralize this oxidative presence in a compensatory manner. And the initial response has to be a dramatic drop in vitamin C levels in order to trigger the new vitamin C synthesis, since the liver can only respond and not anticipate. Furthermore, it appears that the liver continues to make increased amounts of vitamin C until the acute oxidative insult is resolved. It also appears that the resolution of that insult typically occurs with a natural “overshoot” of vitamin C production, resulting often in a sense of unusually good well-being rather than just a return to baseline of clinical “normalcy” after the acute toxin load has been neutralized.

While these small experiments are far from definitive due to size and limitations in the frequency of blood and/or urine testing, the results that were obtained strongly support the initial earlier published study on the impact of HT supplementation on vitamin C blood levels. Also, they clearly support the idea that not only can HT result in more vitamin C in the blood on a chronic basis, but that it can also result in massively larger amounts of vitamin C in the blood when a new large oxidative insult enters the blood. This makes the synthesis of new vitamin C in the liver a very likely reason for these results.

Further testing of the HT would certainly be appropriate and desirable in order to better establish how effective this polyphenol is in restoring vitamin C synthesis, along with establishing how many “nonresponders” exist. The limited data currently indicates that over 90% of supplementers have a significant increase in vitamin C blood levels following HT supplementation. But much detail remains to be worked out, including how sustained such a positive response would be over time. A very simple, proof of concept test would be to simply to look at pre- and post-supplementation GULO blood levels. This would also help quantify the degree of impact, with some subjects going from zero GULO levels in the blood to variable levels of GULO after supplementation. But the appearance of any GULO in the blood after being documented to be absent would be compelling evidence of vitamin C synthesis in the liver getting turned on.

So what they are basically saying is that some proof-of-concept size experiments showed that using a supplement like olive leaf extract at a certain dose was in most cases able to provide the body with what it needs for the liver to generate higher levels of vitamin C when the body is under stress.

Thank you for bringing this, Gudthots! In addition to its help in aiding higher vitamin C levels, I was very interested to read that it chelates iron. I have a genetic condition called hemachromatosis, which is basically iron overload. So I’m always interested in finding supplements that can help me keep my iron levels down.

cthulhu

You may want to be cautious about this. [See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vitamin_C#Iron_deficiency ]. Eating vitamin C with foods that contain iron enhances iron absorption.

OTOH, adding vitamin C to a body with too much iron may chelate the iron into a water-soluble form, allowing it to be better flushed by the kidneys.

Of course, one should also look into the various substances involving https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heme .

Gudthots

Dr Mercola used to practice blood letting on himself to lower iron levels! I think he uses some other method for lowering now.

Coothie, I’m very careful not to have vitamin C or any foods with vitamin C during a meal that contains iron (which is most meals, really). I take mine well away from meals as it does enhance iron absorption.

Yes, this is really the only way to keep it under control. I do iron labs every 3 months and donate whenever my ferritin reaches a certain level. But a few supplements can slow down how fast ferritin rises. Turmeric/curcumin is a big one.

I tried to find more info and saw that some people have high Ferritin levels and it’s due to inflammation, not excess iron. Therefore it’s important to sort that out with more tests. People that had covid sometimes have this issue. One source suggested that NAC might be of help if the cause is a fatty liver.

I found this at Mayo Clinic’s discussion site:

Of course, those are just clues on the trail and not solid bits of advice.

High-dose vitamin C: a risk for persons with high iron stores?

cthulhu

One thing to note about vitamin C is the name “ascorbic acid” is not a “real” chemical name, but is “backed into” from its utility.

“Ascorbic” is a made-up word that says that it’s anti-scurvy.

Chemically, it’s a mild acid very similar to glucose (from which it is synthesized at scale).

It should be noted that the Chinese control about 70% of its industrial synthesis — https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vitamin_C#Industrial_synthesis

Wolf Moon | Threat to Demonocracy

Very interesting, but I’m not convinced that they’re actually observing vitamin C biosynthesis in humans (which is a MASSIVE buried lede here, IMO, if there is any truth to it). I followed the references back, and am not finding anything that convinces me this is proven. Prenatal and neonatal vitamin C levels are definitely interesting, but again – there are mechanistic ways to prove restored biosynthesis of vitamin C in humans, and I don’t see that anywhere.

Their argument that oral “megadosing” with vitamin C is not really anything approximating overdosing, and is in fact more like restoration of healthy mammalian levels, is very reasonable, and I’ve pretty much believed that since hearing Linus Pauling himself arguing the same point 50 years ago. But that said, I think that extreme caution about claims of having observed restored biosynthesis is hugely warranted.

What they could be observing is a change in retention / anti-excretion of ascorbate, resulting in increased levels. It’s very likely that polyphenols and other health-improving nutrients and quasi-nutrients operate through multiple mechanisms, essentially restoring multiple naturally evolved optima of various kinds.

My point overall, however, is that restored human biosynthesis of vitamin C is unlikely.

One final point – genetic tampering with humans could actually restore vitamin C biosynthesis, IMO. It’s low-hanging fruit in “transhumanism”. So the question is, should we do it?

All this Klaus Schwab / Noah Harari horror-show globalist transhumanism and their secret meddling by fait accompli progressivism has certainly made genetic change of humans seem horrible and wrong, but restoring vitamin C seems a lot less diabolical, other than my personal suspicion that evolution had some hidden good reason to get rid of it, and we would learn that reason as unintended consequences of restoration.

But is any “gene tampering” the work of the Devil? I can certainly see why many might think so, and that purism on the point seems like a very valid religious position (including no genetic vaccines).

So maybe restoring vitamin C biosynthesis by genetic means is a Cabal temptation. Or maybe it’s like a particular wood that starts fire easily when spun to friction – waiting there to lead humanity where it’s supposed to go. I’m not ready to take a position.

cthulhu

Wikipoo has a very informative article at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vitamin_C

All plants synthesize their own vitamin C.

Half of rodents can — rats and mice can, capybaras and guinea pigs cannot.

Half of primates can — great apes and monkeys down to tarsiers cannot, lesser monkeys and primates (e.g. lemurs) can.

Teleost fishes (most bony fishes) cannot. Passerine birds (perching birds) cannot. Bats cannot.

Reptiles and older birds synthesize vitamin C in their kidneys; more recent birds and mammals synthesize vitamin C in their livers.

Humans have a vitamin C scavenger pathway that recycles some before excretion — if you starve humans and capybara of vitamin C, the capybara will develop scurvy more rapidly because they do not have such recycling mechanisms.

Wolf Moon | Threat to Demonocracy

Ah, thank you! So the little experiment there was very likely observing some sort of polyphenol effect on that scavenger pathway, IMO.

Gudthots

They do a lot of discussion about what they think is going on, but it was just barely understandable for someone that’s not in those sciences all the time.

Genetic and Epigenetic Interplay

:

:

It has also been documented that when a stop codon is prematurely placed on a segment of mRNA being translated, certain chemicals can result in a “skipping over” of such a stop codon. Such chemicals include the aminoglycoside antibiotics, which were documented to restore normal protein translation in a mouse model of muscular dystrophy. This was considered to be proof of concept information that the ribosome could continue translation through premature stop codons upon administration of the right agent. [49-51] This “skipping over” phenomenon is known as readthrough, resulting in target protein production in spite of the premature presence of the stop codon. The ability of such abnormally-placed stop codons to be passed over has resulted in a search for other agents that have this ability, preferably without the documented toxicity of the aminoglycosides, especially when taken for a prolonged period or even indefinitely. [52-56] The target protein can sometimes end up having normal to near-normal function in spite of the earlier presence of the premature stop codon if the final protein is not missing a critically-placed amino acid. Nearly one-third of the defective genes causing genetic diseases encode for stop codons that prematurely terminate translation into a complete target protein. [57] However, many of these defective genes that encode for stop proteins are extensively mutated and involve far more than just a single point mutation. Such DNA sequences can produce mRNA with codons that encode for multiple abnormal amino acids without the presence of premature-placed stop codons. This can result in full-length target proteins, but containing multiple abnormal amino acids and having variable degrees of physiological activity. Other target proteins can be produced when a premature stop codon is in the mRNA sequence, and an agent that permits readthrough allows a full-length protein with only minimal abnormality in the amino acid sequence. Just like a train proceeding down a track, such agents permit the train (ribosome) to reach its destination after a track defect (stop codon) is repaired or bypassed.

The final protein can be almost completely normal in amino acid sequence, or it can be substantially adulterated with multiple abnormal amino acids in the target protein. This can result in a wide range of protein functionality, from effectively normal to completely nonfunctional, with many intermediate degrees of function. While the ultimate combination of genetic and epigenetic shortcomings in the loss of the ability in the human to make vitamin C remains to be clearly worked out, it nevertheless appears that GULO with sufficient integrity to convert L-gulonolactone into L-ascorbic acid can be achieved when the right epigenetic-modifying agents are ingested. This means that some individuals can regain near-normal GULO synthesis and function, with lesser degrees of synthesis and function regained by others.

Multiple natural and nontoxic molecules have been discovered which appear to readily facilitate the premature stop codon readthrough phenomenon noted above. [58-60] In cell, animal, and human studies, resveratrol, a nutrient polyphenol found in grapes and wine, was found to induce the production of hemoglobin in beta-thalassemia, a point mutation genetic disease. In 50% of thalassemia patients in one study, resveratrol administration completely eliminated the need for repeated transfusions, appearing to indicate the genetic defect in hemoglobin synthesis had been overcome for those patients, by whatever mechanism. [61-63]

Today’s topic put me in mind of something,
If one took an electric motor with a big heavy flywheel on it, then put it on a weighing scale and weigh it with the motor switched off.
Then switch the motor on and get the flywheel spinning fast,
Would the scales show less weight when the motor was running fast.

cthulhu

If they did, the scales’ design would be faulty.

RAC

OK then without getting sidetracked into the various designs of scales, think of it as an imaginary experiment.

cthulhu

Did you have a toy gyroscope when you were a kid?

If you did, you might remember some of the quirky things about it — how if you nudged it, it would try to right itself beginning at a right-angle to the nudge. How you could balance it on the tip of a pencil. How it would hold a tilt. When all was said and done, however, it would weigh the same amount — even if it squirmed a bit while getting there.

If your scale registered a permanent difference, your scale is somehow screwed-up. As is usual, there are few ways of doing something right and an infinite number of ways to do it wrong.

RAC

You appear to be avoiding answering my question.
However.
Over a decade ago an old guy, think he was eastern european.
He’d rigged up a device which was basically a beam supported in the center by a bearing or pivot.
On one end of the beam was a weight and on the other end a short pendulum with a heavy bob weight.
It was arranged such that when the pendulum was hanging vertical the weight of the pendulum was slightly greater than the weight at the other end of the beam.
When he set the pendulum swinging the weight end of the beam would drop every time the pendulum rose above vertical either way.
He was playing off centrifugal force against gravity.
All he needed was feedback to keep the pendulum swinging.

I apologize for the weakness in my response. This may be a definitional thing, but the definition of what a scale is supposed to measure should not be changed by any such motions. By defnition, if it is, the scale is inaccurate.

RAC

No problem.
I found that old guys “invention” very interesting though, and spent a long time thinking about it.
Trying to figure out some (mechanical) way to provide feedback, to no avail.
As you’ll know if you’ve ever messed around with pendulum clocks, the amount of push to keep it swinging is incredibly small so long as it’s applied just at the right time.

At the end of WWII the Nazis realized they were not going to win a CONVENTIONAL kinetic war so they switched tactics. A Stay behind unit was a group of 15 to 20 civilians and was originally created in Germany by Nazis. They were called Werewolf Units or stay behind units and placed in all the AXIS countries. Skorzeny who worked for Galland, features prominently in training and in execution of operations including the murder of JFK. And yes they are here and active in the USA. Some of their training is done at Fort Bragg (SURPRISE!) Galland, who was Hitler’s Chief of intel. met with Dulles at the end of WWII and got off scott free. As a result of that meeting, stay behind units were seeded in other countries AND it is all run out of NATO. This is why Nazi war criminals became high ranking commanders in NATO after WW2. Also there is a secret agreement, if you become a NATO member you must have stay behind units. It is the reason Charles de Gaulle kicked NATO headquarters out of France. They kept trying to assassinate him.

The incredible history behind the formation of the World Economic Forum is founded on the vision set out by Frederick the Great centuries ago, where every aspect of a humanity would be controlled through 17,000 rules and regulations. Adolph Hitler and the Nazis disastrously tried to restore Germany back to its illustrious Prussian past. The current attempt to establish this regime globally was why the first 10 years of the ReichsWEF hosted a myriad of ex-Nazis and national leaders tied to brutal regimes, communist-ideology, and much worse.

To circumvent democratic principles, national sovereignty, and the Constitution, the ReichsWEF implemented the Young Global Leaders program to effectively penetrate government cabinets and steer nations toward the vision of Klaus Schwab and, more importantly, the matrix of globalist corporations that now serve the horrible invisible enemy that is Prussia.

[QUOTE]
….During the Constitution Convention, the extent of Prussian influence was exposed. General von Steuben was working behind the scenes to have Frederick the Great’s brother, Prince Henry, installed as King of America…

From day one of its independence, America was under a silent and invisible siege by Prussian autocrats. The failed attempt to ordain Prince Henry the king of the United States was a victory, but it simply marked the beginning of centuries of Prussian infiltration and subversion:

  • Prussia infiltrated elite universities via secret societies, such as Skull and Bones. Those within these secret fraternities pledged a “higher loyalty”, and many have been appointed as Presidents, Secretaries of War and Supreme Court Justices. This was outlined in Prussian Origins of Skull and Bones.
  • The Prussian template for public education was adopted in America during the 1800s. Children were considered wards of the State and indoctrinated to submit to the will of government decree. This is the essence behind today’s ‘woke’ education agenda, as we outlined in Prussian Origins of Modern Education.
  • Frederick the Great founded the Prussian central bank, which evolved into the German Reichsbank. The Reichsbank was promoted in America by Paul Warburg, a man who emigrated from Prussia and is credited with being the architect behind the U.S. Federal Reserve, as detailed in Prussian Origins of the U.S. Federal Reichsbank.
  • In The Prussian Origins of Marxism, we outlined evidence in support of Karl Marx being a Prussian agent with direct contact with the head of the Prussian secret police. After the 1848 Communist revolutions in Europe, many Prussians moved to America. Koen & Loeb, and Charles Pfizer were among them, as well as many Prussian Generals. During the American Civil War, ex-Prussian generals linked to Karl Marx served in the Union military and provided a back-channel between Marx and Abraham Lincoln.

.
.
.

  • Following WWII, many who sympathized with the Nazis began to re-organize and manage the huge conglomerate of globalist corporations into a well-oiled Uni-entity. Using events such as Bilderberg, Bohemian Grove, the Alfalfa Club and the World Economic Forum, political leaders, CEOs and central bankers were afforded the ability to openly collude about the direction they wished to see humanity take. These members of the ReichsWEF would unashamedly operate in “lockstep”, slowly implementing their New World Order.

Since 1776, there is almost no part of America which has not been influenced by Prussia. Indeed, the same can be said for the entire world.
Today, we are faced with a myriad of crises that always lead toward the same consensus amongst these self-appointed rulers: Humanity must be willing to sacrifice its freedoms to find safety. This is nothing more than a public declaration to shape the world into the same order that Frederick the Great imposed upon Prussia 250 years earlier. This tyrannical order embodies the opposite intent to the freedom envisioned by the US founding fathers and the Constitution….

The model he is holding is the design Boom Supersonic hopes to have in production soon, the craft will be named Overture, the first supersonic airliner since the Concorde was retired, with technology that will allow her to fly overland with no sonic boom reaching ground level. They are still conducting proof of concept testing with their prototype, which is acing its goals.
Japan Airlines, United Airlines and American Airlines have already placed a combined total of 130 orders for the Overture once it’s ready to go. Boom has likewise already constructed the Overture Superfactory in Greensboro, North Carolina, where it expects to build as many as 66 aircraft per year.

From Steve…

By the way as you get further down there’s a link to an article about Boom working on being able to fly Mach 1.1-1.3 without a sonic boom hitting the ground–which would open overland flights to supersonic speeds.

I would like to know what you think of that (when you get there).

Well, there is a lot to say, actually.

Boom Supersonic is an American compan that is developing a supersonic airliner called Overture. The company recently achieved a significant milestone with its XB-1 demonstrator aircraft, which completed its first supersonic flight in January 2025 and concluded its flight test program on February 10, 2025.

XB-1 Demonstrator
The XB-1, nicknamed “Baby Boom,” is a single-seat, three-engined supersonic demonstrator aircraft. It successfully broke the sound barrier, becoming the first privately developed dedicated supersonic piloted civil jet aircraft to do so (the Concord had substantial backing from both the UK and French govts). The XB-1’s flight test program consisted of 13 flights, with the final flight landing at Mojave Air and Space Port in California.

Overture Airliner
Boom’s main project is the Overture, a supersonic airliner designed to carry 64 to 80 passengers. Key features of the Overture include:

Cruise speed: Mach 1.7 (975 knots or 1,805 km/h)Range: 4,250 nautical miles (7,870 km)Four Symphony medium-bypass turbofan engines, each producing 35,000 lbf of thrustCarbon fiber composite construction for improved efficiencyAugmented reality vision system replacing the traditional moveable nose
Boom aims to make supersonic travel more accessible, with ticket prices comparable to current business class fares. The company has received 130 orders for the Overture from various airlines.

Development Timeline

March 2024: XB-1 demonstrator’s first flightJanuary 2025: XB-1’s first supersonic flight2025: Planned unveiling of the first Overture aircraft2026: Projected first flight of Overture2029: Target for type certification and entry into service
Boom Supersonic’s efforts represent a significant step towards reviving commercial supersonic air travel, with advancements in technology and design aimed at addressing the challenges that led to the retirement of the Concorde in 2003.

My evaluation of the jet is worthless at present, as it does not yet exist except on paper.

Want to fly it? Sure.

With the responsibility of passengers? That remains to be seen.

Does it make sense? Lots of questions there.

4GodandCountry

Can I just say?

I am amused that the principals elected to call the company “Boom”, even as they claim to possess technology that prevents a supersonic aircraft from making a “boom that will reach the earth’s surface”.

That will be quite a trick.

Also…..building a jet is one thing.

Getting regulatory approval for it’s use as a passenger jet is a different topic entirely.

Critical Think is awesome! I enjoyed watching him do his weight experiment in the videos. Real science! Bravo!

Fkatzoid’s inability to see both sides of things is, sadly, a problem EVERYWHERE in science. All sides of the vaccine debate are filled with Fkatzoids, from “no virus”, nanomachines, and similar absolutism on one end, to the useful idiots of the Fauci Mafia, for whom vaccines can do no wrong, and even if they do, “math, so just take your vaccine and if you die, tough.” They’re all assholes, at all points along the [wrong and mythical, but it will never go away] Dunning-Kruger curve.

Your (Steve’s) description of some of the flat earth pushers as knowing grifters, who know it’s a lie, surely applies to some of the Faucists who know damn well that (1) vaccines are responsible for much human damage, especially neurological, and (2) the COVID vaccines had massive side effects that science absolutely failed to admit, in historically scandalous ways.

My admiration for Jeran is significant, and I hope that this Witsit character can break through like Jeran, although that sounds unlikely.

Flat Earth is a very useful demonstration – a model of scientific problems for all of science. Everybody needs to take a whipping from it.

Army repurposed over $151 million from soldier paychecks for food to spend elsewhere: Report
It is not clear from the data where the money is actually being spent, but 2024 financial records from Fort Stewart, Georgia, showed that just $2.1 million of the $17 million collected for food, actually went to food.
The United States Army allegedly repurposed more than $151 million that it took from soldiers’ paychecks for food, and spent it on other costs instead, according to a Military.com report.
The Army typically takes $460 per month from junior enlisted soldiers who live in barracks on base, which is supposed to go toward food. But data reviewed by the outlet show that for the Army’s 2024 fiscal year, over $151 million of the $225 million that was collected by 11 of the Army’s largest bases for food, went into the Army’s general fund.
The data examined is from October 1, 2023 to September 30, 2024, according to the outlet.
It is not clear from the data where the money is actually being spent, but the 2024 financial records from 11 of the Army’s largest bases showed that just $2.1 million of the $17 million collected at Fort Stewart, Georgia, went to food.
Hawaii’s Schofield Barracks allegedly collected $14.5 million for food, but used only $5.3 million. This means that 63% of the funds were donated to the general fund instead, Military.com reported.
The review found that all but two of the 11 bases left more than half of the money for food unspent in 2024, with Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska and Fort Bliss, Texas, leaving 41% and 49% respectively.
Army spokesperson Maj. Andrea Kelly told Military.com in a statement that they only use funds “needed to feed the projected number of meals based on previous head counts,” meaning they base how much they purchase on past attendance at the dining facilities.
Other service officials have addressed this in the past, saying the amount of food purchased has gone down because of a perception of reduced interest by the service members.
But according to the outlet, service members have frequently described “undercooked meat, unseasoned meals, a lack of fresh ingredients, and unhealthy menu options,” as the reason fewer soldiers are using the facilities.
Hawaii Democratic Rep. Jill Tokuda called for an immediate investigation.
“Stealing food money from our soldiers is not how we achieve military readiness,” Tokuda told Military.com. “The fact that at least $151 million was collected from soldiers and not spent on food as required demands not just an immediate investigation, but swift accountability.”

The name of the game was to FLOOD the borders since each person has to be looked at individually. Flood the USA with 10 million asylum seekers and the courts are overwhelmed.

That is the GOAL of those prepping the Illegals like AOC so they have the correct legalize to help jam up the system.

The First Safe Country Principle in Law and Practice

It is from 2011 and talking about South Africa.

The first safe country principle refers to the practice of refusing entry to asylum seekers who, prior to their arrival in the country where they are seeking asylum, have travelled through an alternative country that could have offered them asylum protection. This principle has been advanced by the Department of Home Affairs (DHA) as a basis to deny entry to asylum seekers who have transited other countries en route to South Africa. This issue brief highlights the conditions under which it is lawful to apply the first safe country principle, and explains why the DHA’s current practices 👉violate international law.🙄…..

Key Messages

 There is no general, recognised first safe country principle in international law.

Among the minority of states that have implemented the practice through treaties and legislation, all are legally obliged to do so in a manner that protects the fundamental rights found in international refugee law.

International law demands that countries provide individuals fleeing persecution with access to asylum procedures, and South Africa’s domestic refugee legislation gives effect to this principle.

 Under the principle of non-refoulement – found in both international and domestic law – South Africa may not refuse entry or return an individual to a country where he or she may face persecution or a threat to his or her life.

Countries may not simply deny entry to an asylum seeker, and must consider claims individually before deciding to return an asylum seeker to a third country.

 Unless there is a guarantee of fair asylum procedures in transit countries that are deemed ‘safe,’ denying an asylum seeker entry based on a first safe country principle constitutes indirect refoulement, and is a violation of the first sending country’s obligations under international law….

March 2018 Harvard (Commie central) Law Review

American Courts and the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees: A Need for Harmony in the Face of a Refugee Crisis

The international refugee regime is one of the most frequently applied bodies of international law in domestic settings worldwide.1 The 1951 Convention Relating to the Status of Refugees2 (Convention) and its subsequent amendment, the 1967 Protocol Relating to the Status of Refugees3 (Protocol) — instruments that are fairly short and drafted broadly, with many important clauses open for interpretation — govern this regime.4 Sometimes differing domestic laws relating to the status of refugees in the 148 states party to the Convention or Protocol5 have proliferated, including in the United States, where the legislature, agencies, and courts have translated language in the Convention into domestic law.

The entity that most resembles a supervisory body of the Convention is the office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). Not only has the UNHCR promulgated its own interpretations of various provisions of the Convention, but it has also presented its opinions to national courts dealing with specific controversies worldwide. The U.S. Supreme Court’s treatment of the UNHCR’s views has, on the whole, varied from explicitly attending to and ultimately agreeing with the UNHCR’s reasoning all the way to ignoring it or even criticizing considerations of its views by other federal courts; but the current trend is toward less rather than more consideration.

In order to further the goal of a unified treaty regime and provide a more consistent message to the lower courts — and to people applying for asylum in this country and worldwide — the Supreme Court should adopt a more explicit standard of deference to the UNHCR.

A Complete Guide to U.S. Refugee Jurisprudence, Asylum Law and PolicyThis is a good reference.

Introduction

U.S. refugee and asylum laws are founded upon principles of international law and can be extremely complicated. The origins of modern-day refugee and asylum law have their roots in the years following World war II, when scores of Europeans fled their countries of origin.

The most relevant international treaties relating to Refugees are the 1951 Convention Relating to the Status of Refugees and the 1967 Optional Protocol relating to the Status of Refugees

The definition of refugee excludes anyone who “ordered, incited, assisted, or otherwise participated in the persecution of any person on account of race, religion, nationality, membership in a particular social group, or political opinion.

Refugees must:

Be outside of the United States;

Meet the definition above;

Not be firmly resettled in another country; and

Be admissible to the United States.

In simple terms, a refugee is an individual who meets the above definition, and who is outside of the United States. They have fled from their country of origin and are waiting in a third country for resettlement to another.

– Asylee

Also known as asylum seekers, are individuals who meet the above definition, but who are already present in the United States or at a port of entry. Asylees can apply for asylum affirmatively, with the U.S. Asylum Office, or defensively, in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court.

– Asylum

Essentially, asylum has two basic conditions. First, an individual must demonstrate that they have been persecuted, or fear persecution from the government in their country of origin. Second, they must show that the persecution would be on account of their race, religion, nationality, political opinion, or particular social group.  There are many other intricacies and nuances to asylum law; however, these are the most basic requirements.

United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees

States Parties to the 1951 Convention relating to the Status of Refugees and the 1967 Protocol

The Convention was drafted and signed by the United Nations Conference of

Plenipotentiaries on the Status of Refugees and Stateless Persons, held at Geneva from 2 to 25 July 1951. The Conference was convened pursuant to General Assembly resolution 429 (V) of 14 December 1950. The Convention was adopted on 28 July 1951; in accordance with Article 43, it entered into force on 22 April 1954. The Protocol was adopted on 31 January 1967; it entered into force on 4 October 1967 in accordance with its Article VIII.

States Parties to both the Convention andProtocol: 142

States Parties to one or both of these instruments: 148

States Parties to the 1951 Convention only: Madagascar, Saint Kitts and Nevis

States Parties to the 1967 Protocol only: Cabo Verde, United States of America,

4GodandCountry

It doesn’t matter what the EU says or does.

The war is a proxy war between the CIA and Russia. It will end because Trump will end it.

Period.

The non-pretending reality is that the United States was in a proxy war against Russia, with the EU and NATO toeing the line as participants, essentially a western alliance with the Biden administration controlling everything. The U.S. State Department, USAID and the CIA were organizing all of the efforts inside Ukraine. Zelenskyy was following the orders and instructions of others.

Suddenly, President Trump begins extracting the U.S from the proxy war. Without the U.S. remaining involved, Ukraine has nothing. The EU and NATO group understand this, and yet they must pretend a proxy war -with their participation- was not the reality.

In a related action, President Trump signed an Executive Order [SEE HERE] outlining that anyone from the State Department or CIA who attempts to retain their involvement in Ukraine and subsequently defies the expressed change in approach by President Trump, will be removed from their position.

XO – […] “All officers or employees charged with implementing the foreign policy of the United States must under Article II do so under the direction and authority of the President. Failure to faithfully implement the President’s policy is grounds for professional discipline, including separation. The personnel procedures of executive departments and agencies (agencies) charged with implementing the President’s foreign policy must therefore provide an effective and efficient means for ensuring that officers and employees faithfully implement the President’s policies.” [excerpt, sec 2 – link]

Reuters: European court rejects Romanian far-right presidential candidate’s election appeal

BUCHAREST, Jan 21 (Reuters) – The European Court of Human Rights on Tuesday rejected an appeal by Romania’s far-right presidential candidate to overturn a domestic court decision to annul a December presidential election.

Calin Georgescu was the frontrunner after the first round of the Nov. 24 presidential election. However, Romania’s highest court annulled the ballot two days before the second round in December, citing allegations of Russian interference in his favour, which Moscow has denied.

Georgescu, a critic of NATO who has praised Romania’s 1930s fascist leaders, turned to Europe’s top human rights court after failing to reverse the decision by Romania’s Constitutional Court in local courts.

The ECHR ruled that his appeal fell outside its remit.

An opinion poll released late on Monday showed Georgescu remained voters’ top choice ahead of a re-run of the vote in May, which could upend Romania’s pro-Western politics, pushing it closer to a belt of central European states with powerful Russia-friendly politicians, including Hungary and Slovakia….

https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2025/02/shocking-scandal-151-million-intended-soldiers-meals-11/

Is this something that has been a very long term oroblem? Hiw the hell can soldiers be not getting enough food or decent food? Its one of the few things they can enjoy on a daily basis. This is disgusting.

A bombshell report has exposed that more than $151 million meant to feed soldiers at 11 of the Army’s largest bases was repurposed for undisclosed uses.

This revelation, first reported by Steve Beynon of Military.com, comes as junior enlisted soldiers struggle to access nutritious food on base, with some being forced to survive on substandard meals.

The funds in question are deducted directly from service members’ Basic Allowance for Subsistence (BAS), a monthly $460 allotment meant to cover food costs for soldiers living in barracks.

For junior enlisted personnel earning approximately $30,000 annually, this deduction represents a significant financial burden. Yet, instead of using these funds to provide adequate meals, the Army appears to be diverting them elsewhere.

Incredibly, out of $225 million collected across just 11 bases, a staggering $151 million was not used for food expenses. With the Army operating a total of 104 garrisons, the true amount of unspent funds could be far higher.

The Army refuses to disclose what the extra funds are being used for. Major expenses like dining hall infrastructure and food service worker salaries are covered under separate budgets, and despite repeated inquiries from Military.com, officials have declined to provide any transparency.

At Fort Stewart, Georgia, for example, soldiers contributed $17 million, but the base spent just $2.1 million — redirecting 87% of the funds. Schofield Barracks in Hawaii collected $14.5 million but used only $5.3 million, meaning 63% of the money was used elsewhere.

All but two bases left more than half of the money for food unspent. Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska and Fort Bliss, Texas, left 41% and 49% of funds on the table, respectively.

It’s unclear what specifically the additional funds taken from soldiers are being spent on, but they do not appear to be going toward feeding soldiers.

[…]

How to feed the force is an equation service planners continue to grapple with. In 2023, Military.com reported that Fort Cavazos, Texas — the Army’s most extensive base — was barely able to keep its food services running for much of that summer, with only two of its 10 dining facilities open, leaving soldiers struggling to find meals.

In November last year, the publication reported pervasive food shortages at Fort Carson, Colorado. Soldiers were fed meals that were just a slice of toast and lima beans, troops told Military.com.

gil00

I hope he does and quickly. Thats well over 55% of the money going somewhere else.

THIS makes me more mad than ANYTHING I have heard yet from DOGE.

EACH DAY WE TAKE UP THE OFFENSIVE WEAPON OF THE WORD OF GOD – THE SWORD OF THE SPIRIT – ONE VERSE OPENS THE DOOR TO THE CONTEXT OF THE CHAPTER MESSAGE

Verse of the Day for Saturday, February 15, 2025

“Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding.”

Proverbs 3:13 (KJV)

Commentary for Proverbs 3

13-20 No precious jewels or earthly treasures are worthy to be compared with true wisdom, whether the concerns of time or eternity be considered. We must make wisdom our business; we must venture all in it, and be willing to part with all for it. This Wisdom is the Lord Jesus Christ and his salvation, sought and obtained by faith and prayer. Were it not for unbelief, remaining sinfulness, and carelessness, we should find all our ways pleasantness, and our paths peace, for his are so; but we too often step aside from them, to our own hurt and grief. Christ is that Wisdom, by whom the worlds were made, and still are in being; happy are those to whom he is made of God wisdom. He has wherewithal to make good all his promises.

Commentary by Matthew Henry, 1710.

WE ARE FIGHTING A SPIRITUAL WAR OF GOOD VERSUS EVIL

PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD

Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.

I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.

Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.

May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.

With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.

Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.

Thank you Father God, my Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that I am more than a conqueror in my Lord Jesus. I pray all of this in the mighty name of my Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ, Amen.

LEAN NOT ON YOUR OWN UNDERSTANDING

So many times we think we know better
But in our minds we see not the fetter
Trapped in a world of utter madness
We see no way out only sadness

We think we are smart can figure it out
Without God’s help we really have no clout
For it is in His Word where answers lie
Simply the what and when and how and why

His ways are not our ways nor His thoughts
Without discernment we remain tied in knots
The answer to what is plaguing us
Is found in His Word and rightly thus

We think we can flourish all on our own
Taught this from childhood until we are grown
We wonder why we continue to fail
Our sacred source sadly of no avail

We lean on our own understanding
Knowledge is rarely ever expanding
We have no clue how to reach higher
Wisdom eludes we’re left in the mire

We must trust in God with all our hearts
From whom knowledge initially imparts
From knowledge comes the understanding
And wisdom erupts ever commanding

What is it that brings us life and success
With what ability does God rightly bless
The conviction of Faith in things unseen
The assurance of things hoped and have been

So if our leaning is all on our own
We miss out on what Faith has truly shown
We miss God’s vast unconditional love
His Fatherly assistance from above

Man in yearslong battle to retrieve lost Bitcoin hard drive worth around $800 million offers to buy landfill

James Howells has been in a decades-long battle with local officials to gain access to the landfill to look for the lost Bitcoin hard drive
https://www.foxbusiness.com/technology/man-yearslong-battle-retrieve-lost-bitcoin-hard-drive-worth-800-million-offers-buy-landfill

Been following this for years. It is driving this man insane.

Let. It. Go.

”For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world, but lose his soul (or mind) in the process?”

They can be mollified by the fact that no one else will get the $$ either.

pgroup2

Clone the drive and then run your decrypt efforts on the cloned drive.

Cuppa Covfefe

Could be that the drive’s hardware encryption has the key/destruct code in the “non-public” area of the drive… as defined by the ATA standards, etc.

That ratchets up the cost/complexity of drive duplication/recovery immensely… though there are some, no doubt, who would pay it…

Also he should be looking for the cost of the bitcoin/etc. at the time he bought it, not the current value. As far as I know, there isn’t an insurance company on earth that would pay replacement cost in that case (if at all, considering the scandals, etc. associated with bitcoin in the early years)… Silk Road says howdy, as it were…..

cthulhu

Disk recovery is pretty good these days — they actually got data off of a drive that was in a Shuttle crash.

Its sad. I dont think he can recover it though.

Why is Tucker a part of this?

Big Balls should be Dr. Watson. 🤷‍♂️

pgroup2

BB has no recognizable face; Tucker does.

Aubergine

I tried to watch it, but watching AI-generated film makes me literally nauseous. It hurts my brain. Same with video games.

The first time I saw a movie with a lot of CGI, the same thing happened. I was at “Toy Story” with my kids, and I kid you not, I had to watch the floor for most of the film! I was sick the rest of the day.

I can’t drink absinthe, either. It makes my vision weird, and freaks me out.

Cuppa Covfefe

Have to watch out for Screwtape and Wormwood then 😆

(don’t like AI photos either… the Holmes thing seems clever, but still… I’ll take CGI over AI any day)…

Gudthots

I think it’s because it requires you to release what you know is true and join with the fantasy. You have a visceral response because you WILL NOT leave what you know is true.

Gudthots

I am suspecting that the AI generated stuff comes with some sort of “essence” that is discernible by people that are sensitive to it.

Aubergine

That is surely a part of it.

I am also a visual creative. I paint, draw, and make visual art. The way I see things is different anyway. Interference with my vision is uncomfortable.

Cuppa Covfefe

Yep… it’s the seven fingers on a hand that gets me 👻

Shades of “The Five Thousand Fingers Of Dr. T” 😬

The listed celebrities are denying receiving payments to travel to Ukraine or even making the trip. When I first saw that Ukraine list, it was not in anything DOGE-related which made me smell a rat.

Also, no publicity pics on the ‘net with Z-man. The list is a temptation trick IMO.

TheseTruths

I remember seeing some of them with Z.

Ben Stiller made the trip:

It was an honour to meet President @ZelenskyyUa on #WorldRefugeeDay as part of my visit with UNHCR @Refugees to stand in solidarity with people forced to flee in Ukraine and worldwide, and bring more attention to the humanitarian situation.

In this article, they say they were there for other reasons than for the government and weren’t paid by USAID, but who knows what tentacles USAID had in variously-named organizations that could have paid them? I’d like to see investigations into this.

Good morning, C&C, it’s Saturday! Time for the Weekend Edition.
Today’s roundup is critically important. Trump’s assault on Europe has begun. Any second now, corporate media will deploy brand new Russia collusion narratives and cry about Trump torching our European relationships. So let’s look at what is REALLY going on. It includes my boldest, most controversial claim yet, and I promise that the scale of Trump’s master plan will astound you. Prepare to forget everything you thought you knew about geopolitics.

Wolf Moon—

Yours Truly is working on the Health Friday post for this week. It may be a shorter post. I may schedule it for early Friday morning publishing sometime tonight.

There’s a weather service High Wind Warning for the Raleigh-Durham area from 6AM through 4PM tomorrow. Calling for high sustained winds and 55+MPH gusts. Warning that trees will come down, widespread power outages, general destruction. Sounds like a very serious situation.

EVENING PRAYERS

Prayer Of Thanksgiving In The Evening

Praise Your holy name Heavenly Father, for granting yet another day in my life and for being with me every step of the way. Thank You for the many blessings that You have provided and the love and fellowship that I have with the friends and family that in Your grace You have placed in my life.

My heart is so thankful for all the many blessings that I enjoy day by day, and today I am once again reminded that Your mercies are new every morning and Your faithfulness endures from generation to generation.

Thank You, that I have been brought into Your family and have been made a child of God and a citizen of heaven. Words cannot express my love and devotion to You Lord

I pray that You would watch over me as I rest tonight, and that You would give me a restful night’s sleep so that I may wake up in the morning refreshed in body and spirit and ready to do Your will. Guard all those that I love and may we all grow in grace and in a knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ in the days that lie ahead. This I ask in His precious name,

Amen.

Prayer Of Reflection On The Past Day

Loving Lord, as the day is coming to an end, I want to thank You for being with me in all that has taken place today. I also want to lay the whole day before You, asking that you would show me if there is anything that I have done to hurt or harm another person unknowingly, or if I have done anything that is displeasing in Your sight, or quenched the work of the Spirit in me, so that I may turn away from such things in the days that lie ahead.

Lord, I desire to do Your will in all things. I pray that You would cleanse me of any wrong thoughts or attitudes that may have surfaced in my heart today. Wash me in Your cleansing flood, I pray.

Thank You, that You are a God who forgives our transgressions when we are willing to confess them to You, knowing that such cleansing before You immediately draws us back into sweet fellowship with Yourself.

Give me a good night’s rest I pray, and may I rest quietly in Your loving arms in the knowledge that in Christ, I am eternally secure, due to Your amazing grace, for which I praise You. In Jesus’ name,

Amen.

Evening Prayer For Forgiveness

Heavenly Father, thank You for bringing me through this day and Lord, forgive me for the times when I have wandered outside Your best will for me, instead of trusting You implicitly.

Thank You, that You are such a gracious Shepherd to me and that You come and rescue me even when I lose my way and stray from the path that You have laid out for me.

As I look back over today, I know Lord that there were things that I should have said and done differently, and times when I reacted in a manner that was not honouring Your holy name. Forgive me I pray, but thank You, Father, that You always faithfully prepared to gently bring me back to Yourself.

Give me a good night’s sleep I pray, knowing that there is no condemnation because I am in Christ, and may I wake up in the morning refreshed and ready to do Your will. In Jesus’ name I pray,

Amen.

THE LEDE

Astronomical Sun-Earth distance and radiation changes driven by gas giants are what drives global heating and cooling. Stated another way, Jupiter and Saturn change our distance from the sun, and this accounts for increased temperatures. We don’t need carbon dioxide. So why are people thinking CO2 drives climate? Turns out the warmists made a mistake in heating calculations – there is a point in the basic equations where CO2 contribution saturates, and adding more CO2 doesn’t change the temperature – further contributions by the term are negligible – they did it wrong. This comports with the observation that increases in CO2 directly follow increases in temperature – not vice versa – so CO2 is not behind the effects we are seeing.

Further – sunspots show another indication of cyclic solar activity, and this is related to solar magnetism. There is going to be a big minimum from 2020 to 2053, and we are already seeing it.

para59r

Okay, Bakerjim had in this link.

para59r

Assumes she’s describing an effect accumulated over a vast amount of time, 2100 years to 2200 years from which variations from the norm are only minutely detectable for much shorter periods of time at the end of their cycles showing up as an increase or decrease in average global temps by a few degrees which would I’d assume fold into other cycles and weather pattens which would result in more extreme changes. Sounds plausible here but I’m not the science guy. Any ways she’s five years into one of these cycles that won’t finish for another 25 years if I read that right. Plenty of time to see if she’s right.

Wolf Moon | Threat to Demonocracy

Not saying I believe all of what she’s saying, but I think her point about barycentric orbit of all bodies is NOT short-term (like 25 years) but instead leads to changes in the Earth-Sun distance over centuries, that can be VIEWED in a particular way that she claims makes sense (and which I’m not so sure about).

I think the 25-year stuff fell out of the sunspots, magnetic fields, and all that. She’s talking about several models and referencing between them while explaining the others.

She is proposing that a known, apparently well-predicted lengthening and (currently) shortening of Earth-Sun distance is responsible for global warming, and used the directly predicted (I presume Newtonian) values from others. We’re looking at differences of a single solar diameter – WTH – I’m not sure that’s enough, frankly, but she apparently thinks that it makes her numbers work.

Her way of explaining that change in the Earth-Sun distance is to break it into the Earth and the Sun BOTH, separately, orbiting the barycenter, and that this leads over time to changes in the relative distance of the two bodies. That actually seems to be a reasonable way to do it, although I’m just accepting the argument. She is apparently in a feud with Ken Rice over him NOT using a barycentric model.

IF her assertion here is true (not so sure), THEN an alternative “heliocentric” view (ignore barycenter, fix the Sun) of what she is saying, might be that the gas giants are varying their combined, immediate, and cumulative gravitational effects on all other bodies in the system – each other and the smaller planets. In other words, remove the barycenter and try to get the same effect, over centuries, resulting in the same prediction of changing Sun-Earth distances (assuming those are correct), using a different (and likely inferior, but set that aside) but Rice-compatible approach to the many-body problem. OR the fallacy or validity of what Zharkova is doing may show up in a more obvious manner by going heliocentric.

I didn’t dig any further into it than that. I have wanted to read her papers – this looks like the best way into her thinking that I’ve seen, assuming that I can get anything past a paywall.

Given the way NATO/EU leaders are acting we seriously need to abandon that treaty. We don’t need to be committed to any hair triggers with those idiots acting the way they are.

Our 80 Billion annual commitment can be spent better else where. Drop it to 20 Billion to save our investment and were still the top spender and also rewrite the treaty. Or better just leave.

kalbokalbs

Leave NATO is the correct answer.

Whatever the need for NATO was decades ago, No Longer Exists.

Whatever NATO stood for decades ago, No Longer Exists.

Trump knows both of those facts.

Quitting the UN, will be harder than quitting NATO. BOTH need to happen.

This is beyond ridiculous.

US taxpayer dollars were going to be spent on the following items, all which have been cancelled:

– $10M for “Mozambique voluntary medical male circumcision”

– $9.7M for UC Berkeley to develop “a cohort of Cambodian youth with enterprise driven skills”

IMO we need investigations into who authorized these spending sprees. Put them under oath. Ask them if they thought that was a good use of tax payer money. Then ask them if they thought money was actually being used for these programs. Ask them to prove it.

Show where the money went. Are there reports on each of these many expenditures? Were we going to get an accounting on how many men in Mozambique voluntarily underwent circumcision? I guess that one has been canceled, but I want public access to reports on all the other programs. Accountability…

https://nypost.com/2025/02/15/us-news/trans-migrant-arrested-for-raping-boy-in-nyc-park-bathroom/

A migrant transgender woman wanted by federal immigration officials allegedly stalked and raped a boy in Manhattan this week, The Post has learned.

Nicol Suarez allegedly followed the 14-year-old into the bathroom of a bodega across the street from Thomas Jefferson Park in East Harlem Tuesday and attacked him, police and sources said.

The boy then left the bathroom and flagged down witnesses, who alerted police, the sources said.

Suarez, 30, who is originally from Colombia, was arrested nearby the following day and charged with first-degree rape.

Suarez was wanted in New Jersey and Massachusetts at the time, and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement had a detainer on her, a law enforcement source said.

The nature of the out-of-state charges wasn’t immediately available.

ICE could just pick this person up and deport them back,” the source said. “But due to our sanctuary laws we can’t do anything.”

Prosecutors initially asked for $500,000 bail and $1.5 million bond for Suarez, the law enforcement source said.

But Judge Elizabeth Shamahs, who became a judge in January after she was elected on the Democratic ticket, lowered the amount to $100,000 bail or $250,000 bond, online court records show.

“I feel really bad for the kid that has to go through this because his life will never be the same,” the source said. “We worry about the migrants but what about the victim? This is a true victim.”

Suarez was being held on Rikers Island, online records showed Saturday.

“This rapist should be deported so he can’t do that to any other innocent young boy,” Lindsaey Gonzalez said.

“That boy must be traumatized a lot for the rest of his life,” Gonzalez, 24, said. ‘I feel bad for him because I’m a mother.”

Tyv very m for posting that. From the tranny crap, illegal, multi state criminal, child sexual assault, sanctuary state, and activist liberal judge, this codifies everything WRONG in the govt that needs to be changed.

TheseTruths

It started with homosexuals saying they just needed the freedom to “love whom they please.” That opened the door to the political correctness of not being allowed to criticize them or observe patterns of behavior, health issues, and crimes within the community.

The trans movement builds on that. They are “supposed” to be deemed “normal,” merely having been “born in the wrong body.” Just as with homosexuals, we are supposed to coddle them and go along with their deviancy. So now that many parts of society have allowed them to infiltrate, we can see that the deviancy extends to sex crimes, school shootings, and more.

I’m not equating homosexuals with transgenders. I’m saying that the one paved the way for the other.

scott467

We wouldn’t have any of this nonsense without a radically feminized society.

In a masculine society, homos stay in the closet and trannys get psychological help.

Haven’t followed it much. Does he have further mitigating circumstances besides not liking the system, like family or friend that died because they were turned down for insurance? Greek Member of EU Parliament Delivers Epic Indictment of Socialist Policies: “YOU HAVE FAILED” (Video)

Greece Isn’t Playing Anymore
https://twitter.com/Playteaux1/status/1890235057278972403

Afroditi Latinopoulou, a Greek member of the EU parliament representing the “Voice of Reason” party, delivered an epic and fiery indictment of Europe’s socialist policies.

Latinopoulou argued that 50 years of socialist rule and the modern pervasiveness of woke ideology have decimated economies and destroyed Europe, not the “far right.”

Latinopoulou began, “Seriously, ladies and gentlemen?”

“Did the right destroy industry? Did the right idolize Greta Thunberg? Did the right impose green energy at the expense of industry, destroying the EU’s competitiveness?”

“Or was it the socialist governments that have been ruling the European Union for 50 years?”

“France, Italy, Germany, Spain, and my homeland Greece have been devastated by groundless socialist policies.”

“And today you, the destroyers of Europe, have the audacity to point fingers at us, saying that we conservatives are a threat to Europe?”

“I laugh. I truly laugh.”

“As Margaret Thatcher wisely said, ‘The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people’s money.’”

“So abandon these ghost stories about supposed far-right threats and implement liberal economic policies.”

“Lower taxes, increase competitiveness, bring back plastic straws, leave lignite alone, invest in the industry and, above all, face reality: YOU HAVE FAILED.”

“Follow what we’re telling you before it’s too late for everyone. We are the future and you are the past.”

WOLF MOON and ALL —

Steve I’m just now reading your post as I’ve been catching up on reading in general due to many hours elsewhere on family & business matters.

I thought of you yesterday when my husband was talking to our son Brandon on speaker phone. B was on his way to Toronto for a short weekend w/ his fiancée & reminiscing about their 8th grade class trip from his Christian School, that was Supposed to go to Toronto but had to sub in a US destination because one of his classmates was international & couldn’t easily cross the border between the US & Canada.

So anyway B actually lives with one of his classmates from back then in his big “frat-house” rental. They were discussing this class trip the other day about how they ended up going to the Creation Museum & got to meet Ken Hamm. The sarcasm with which that last phrase was delivered was absolutely hilarious. Teen humor a decade & half later 😉

Back in the 70’s there was a nice academic library containing some amazing research on YEC, and I got to visit and look through the materials. They were very kind, because this obviously wasn’t my scholarly professional interest – just a personal side interest as a scientist. I was very impressed that there were people who took the movement very seriously in a surprisingly even-handed, scholarly way. They were not “debunkers” per se, but I found their interest reassuring – in part because they were watching the “opposition” too.
