Readers may recall that Yours Truly posted regarding her discovery of the death of a former opera singer with whom she worked, who will be called “D.M.” D.M., as a professional operatic bass-baritone, had an international career, in which one of his “signature roles” was that of Horace Tabor in the Douglas Moore opera, The Ballad of Baby Doe. He had an enormous voice with an unusual “upward extension” that could cover dramatic tenor repertoire. In fact, D.M. was commuting to New York City to study with a voice instructor at the Mannes School of Music to become a Heldentenor (Wagnerian tenor.) However, D.M. eventually left opera performing and taught voice for some years; he then worked as an insurance sales professional. He had had successful MOHS surgery to remove a basal cell carcinoma over a decade ago. There is no doubt in Yours Truly’s mind that D.M. took the COVID-19 “vaccines” in order to keep his job in insurance. In early 2022, he was diagnosed with colon cancer. He passed away in January 2024. I do know that D.M. had at least one potential co-morbidity: he was tall and very big, built almost like a Sumo wrestler, with an extra-large ribcage (this type of body build is important for being a Heldentenor.) May he rest in eternal Peace.

Thanks Pat. They’re doing relatively well, considering. The day after my last visit they went to the viewing for a long time neighbor who went on to his reward after reaching his 90s! My mom took a tumble at the restaurant they went to after, caught her foot on something & fell down on her side. Thankfully nothing was broken but she was bruised up on her one knee. She’d broken her arm last year in a fall w/ surgery & months of rehab therapy so this fall was Way less problematic…
They were having problems with their internet service that had alternating TVs go non-functional. There was supposed to be a home visit by a service person from their provider but I don’t know if that solved the issues or not. Dad said the company was trying to sell them an Upgrade to the service & he’s like why do I want to pay you More when you’re not even currently getting me the service I’m paying for! Still feisty.
They were not seeming to fight this illness, which is Huge to me. My son Josiah, who lives here mostly alternating weeks, has been fighting the illness but was able to return to work today. It seems he’s not having as nasty of a case as I’ve had so I’m Very Thankful for that. His twin, who stopped by the other day but barely saw me or J, is now showing symptoms of sore throat & cough, which is how it started for me & J…
OK you prompted me to call my parents to check in. The TV situation is Partially resolved. They are paying less, the tech guy spent a long time there to get them set up & now they have partial functionality, mostly because they don’t know how to use what’s new compared to the old.
My dad is stepping up to deal with the bills, which was something both my brother & I wanted to help them get situated, but they are doing this on their own & managing.
My daughter went by yesterday & did some food prep & some consolidating with them. Apparently she thinned out the spice rack by combining half filled containers into just one full container. Even this visual thinning is probably helping to reduce the overall sense of being overwhelmed.
Honestly just hearing how they were talking today it sounds like they were doing pretty well. They even have made some efforts toward walking a bit of late

One of the old timers I made friends with when I first came to NC, grew up on a similar farm. When they would butcher a cow, his mom would can the entire cow to preserve it since they had no electric and no freezer. His dad ONLY used horses. Our soil here is clay and he did not want a tractor compacting the soil he worked so hard to make loose and fertile with manure.
Thru him I met a lot of the old farmers who still used Drafts for a lot of their farm work. Unfortunately, after 3 decades most of them are now gone and some of the farms are now sub-divisions.

Actually venison is good. If someone gives me ground venison, I cut it 50-50 with beef hamburger because it has so little fat. Great in Chilli, moussaka, beef stroganoff…
Venison is outstanding.
The problem is…in my experience…that most folks don’t really know how to handle it properly, and there is a lot to know.
For example, deer fat….unlike pork or beef…is nasty stuff. Get rid of every bit of it.
But it all starts even before that.
The “gamey taste”? MOST of that comes from adrenaline. You see, being a great shooter is WAYYYY different than being a good shooter. A great shot can make a deer fall right where it’s standing. A good shot will mortally wound a deer which dies after a few minutes.
That few minutes is KEY.
The animal’s body knows it’s wounded, and immediately starts pumping out huge amounts of adrenaline in order to survive. It’s body becomes flooded with adrenaline in seconds.
Of course, the effects of adrenaline on the taste of meat have long been known….just ask any meat processor and how they kill at the slaughterhouse.
A great shot can kill a deer and the animal’s body has no time to react. Done. Over. A great shot can put a bullet EXACTLY where the shooter intends for it to go. A good shooter is satisfied with being off by several inches from the point of aim. But those few inches are CRITICAL.
Here’s the thing when it comes to venison…
Most folks will NOT put in the time and effort to become a great shot. It’s the law of diminishing returns in time & cost. Becoming a great shot means doubling the time and effort it took to become a good shot, and most won’t go to the trouble. And part of that is because they don’t know what they don’t know….
…..that it’s the adrenaline in deer meat that is most responsible for a gamey taste.
I have served venison to folks who absolutely would not eat it, and they thought it was beef until I showed them nope, that’s venison. Been doing it for decades, and opening eyes along the way.
But properly taking down a deer is only the start. There is much else besides this. But too much for a single post.
i don’t think it’s ethical to fool people into eating something you like, but they might not. it’d be different if they were open to tasting 2 different plates to see if they could tell the difference, but to outright trick someone into it isn’t right. jmo.

The body uses a small amount of melatonin for signalling in brain, but also uses a lot more in each cell for energy and immune function. The most experienced researcher (50+ years) says there is no LD-50, but you really can only use a certain amount and it’s a waste to take more. Yeah, Dr Berg has a video on the benefits of sunshine and he uses his old farmer neighbors as examples. Those farmers have a horrible diet (according to Berg), smoke or chew tobacco, but are outside sun up to sun down. Probably don’t even have a cell phone or computer. Dr Berg hires them to help out and is amazed at their strength even into their later years.

Thank you. This is why Yours Truly said that judicious supplementation of Vitamin D on days when it’s not possible to get outside in the sun may be done.
Of course. It’s just that “judicious” is a difficult to discern amount these days.
Doctors are pushing for people to try to hit a target level of a secondary marker (25D) which is associated with better outcomes for a highly inflammatory disease. Even one of the top scientists in the field of autoimmunity comes straight out and says supplemental D has steroidal effects that suppress immune function.
Of course taking D makes you “feel better” and have less symptoms when you get infections. It’s slowing down your response. Maybe in a helpful way, or maybe in a way that isn’t so helpful. I would be more comfortable if doctors did less vitamin sales and spent more time looking at the actual results in large populations studies.
I love the sun, but up here in the north, the winters are long and cloudy. I get as much as I can. And in the summer, I get a LOT!
That is the natural rhythm of life. Our bodies seem to benefit from the natural increase of sun exposure Spring to Fall, and the break over the winter. I have a lot of respect for the wisdom of the body.
BTW, did you know that our cells can produce the active form of vitamin D (1,25-D) as needed for metabolic processes? We can make D as needed internally which makes sense. If you try and use a blood test to measure this, you only are measuring the very tiny amount that leaks out of the cells into the blood.

Over the last few years, the American Academy of Pediatrics has pushed Hamas propaganda, thus lending its credentials and “legitimacy” to championing the cause of an alleged colonel in a child-murdering and -kidnapping terrorist organization.

Is Surgery Becoming Less Safe?
One of my colleagues heads a surgical residency at an elite medical institution and has served as his certifying board’s examiner for nearly 20 years, overseeing the certification of young surgeons. He has noted two changes during this period.
First, many candidates for certification complete their surgeries slowly—taking, for example, seven hours to complete an operation that should take at most four. The problem is so widespread that some insurers have put a cap on anesthesia reimbursement for cases that take too long, even though it is the surgeon, not the anesthesiologist, who determines the duration of the procedure.
Second, and relatedly, my colleague noted a rise in patients’ post-operative complications. This makes sense, since operating time is one of the determinants of surgical-complication rates.

I’m having a surgery on Monday and had the pre-op call with instructions yesterday. I was pretty surprised by the detailed anti-bacterial steps I’m to follow in the days before. And it’s a “teaching” hospital and the waiver was vague on who performs the procedure so I gather it won’t be the actual surgeon I’ve met and whose scheduled for the surgery. Not gonna lie, I’m feeling nervous.
What’s the surgery? And will the surgeon you’ve met be supervising your surgery? And how many other simultaneous surgeries? And, BTW, have you met the anesthesiologist and will the one you met be supervising your surgery and how many others?
There are a lot of procedures where the anesthesiologist has more impact on outcomes than the actual surgeon.

Also whether or not a SURGEON is going to the BULK of the procedure and a SENIOR RESIDENT will perform the “finishing-up” parts UNDER the SURGEON’S ONSITE SUPERVISION.
And get whatever you find out IN WRITING if you can.

When Yours Truly had the emergency hernia repair operation at Christmas 2023, there literally was a “surgery time limit” on the approval for the procedure. Since my procedure was for a large hernia with a lot of repair, I was on the table for the entire “surgery time limit.”

My friend had major complications and had to go back into surgery the next day. On top of that she has major scar tissue in her colon from a HYSTERECTOMY! Mom had a colon resection and NO scar tissue problems.

Verse 23. – We have had similar maxims before (Proverbs 13:8 and Proverbs 18:21, where see notes). He keepeth his mouth, who knows when to speak and when to be silent; and he keepeth his tongue, who says only what is to the purpose. We have all heard the proverb, “Speech is silver, silence is gold.” One who thus takes heed of his words, keepeth his soul from troubles. The troubles (angores, Vulgate) are such as these – remorse for the evil occasioned, distress of conscience, vexation and strife with offended neighbours, danger of liberty and life, and, above all, the anger of God, and retribution in the judgment.

Bondi told us what was in the files is really disturbing, and then she turned around and said she doesn’t have the files.

This is not directed at you, Pat, and I’m actually very glad you brought this.
I start off by saying that these people are assholes.
Just the names of some of the categories and files – the ones with the word massage – are disturbing. Particularly after having read ANY of the victims’ testimony – WHICH I HAVE.
What little I’ve seen so far from the “binders” is disturbing.
Just the lengths of the list – the ages of the women – the fucking metadata around this case – are disturbing.
These assholes are picking on Bondi because it’s just sport to them, and people with more brains and better understanding (like Sundance, like him or not) are rightly questioning whether Bondi can or will cut through the bullshit blockade that DOJ and FIB will put in front of her. Yes, that questioning is legit. But jumping Bondi for sport like she’s a Dem – that’s bullshit, IMO. And destructive to Trump and MAGA.

Other black outs in the binder were from the address book. Phone numbers and address’s were blacked out.
Minor detail about the Epstein binder Phase I. That constitutes an official document making it not as easy for people to shrug off, so that’s a step up from leaked information even if it is the same stuff.

It appears, so far, that the ability of the President to remove security clearances from personnel is an effective tool to ridding the government of some really nasty, destabilizing characters who might otherwise not be able to rendered inneffective. If the reports are correct, Victoria Nuland just got her clearances pulled.
Now that this method is out in the open, and is, apparently, not able to be successfully challenged, I have a bit of concern that the next crooked DemonRat that cheats their way into the presidency will, for example, pull the clearances of 10,000 named conservatives, just because he wants their influence eliminated.

A SpaceX rocket has launched Odin, a spacecraft built by startup AstroForge, on a mission to study asteroid 2022 OB5, which is 1 million miles from Earth.
The asteroid is believed to contain platinum and other rare metals used in electronics, medicine, and green energy.
Mining these materials on Earth costs £25,000 per kilo, but space could offer a cheaper, less damaging alternative.
Odin will travel for 300 days before reaching the asteroid. It will take close-up images to confirm if the surface is metallic.
If valuable metals are found, a second mission will attempt to land and extract samples later this year.
This could be the first step toward mining asteroids for resources instead of Earth’s limited supply.

I wish someone would explain this.
No matter how you do it, it’s going to cost a lot more to mine anything in space than it will on earth, if for no other reason than because of the cost of building and maintaining infrastructure (rockets, space stations, etc.) and transportation costs.
Suppose it costs $1,000 to mine and process and pour a 1oz platinum bar on earth.
It must cost a hundred times that much to explore, discover, mine, transport, process and get to the same end result by sourcing the platinum from space.
Maybe a thousand times more. Who even knows how much it would cost?
Maybe, over time, the upfront costs would be justified, and the volume would make up for the sunk costs in the early stages.
But that’s only one side of the equation.
The other problem is that supply / demand equation gets wrecked.
Suppose that a million ounces of platinum are being mined on earth, year in and year out, which results in a supply/demand equilibrium at the current spot price of $965/oz.
If you’re bringing 10 million more ounces to market from space, what does that increased supply do to the price per ounce? It drives the price DOWN.
So now platinum may only be worth $96.50 per ounce instead of $965 per ounce.
Which means you never realize the volume savings from building the space stations and rockets and the cost of transportation and fuel, etc.
It’s like we live in a fishbowl, and the fishbowl holds a gallon of water, so the water is worth x-amount per ounce, because it’s all we’ve got.
But if there is a lake full of hundreds of millions of gallons of water outside our fishbowl, and we can bring it to our fishbowl, then the value of the water already in our fishbowl goes down proportionately.
Because value is based on scarcity.
If you can bring orders of magnitude more ‘stuff’ back to the fishbowl, then by definition, that ‘stuff’ is going to be worth a lot less, because it’s not scarce anymore.
But the cost to get it here not only remains constant, it goes up every year with inflation.
So how does this work? It costs more every year to get the stuff, and the more of it you bring back, the less it is worth.
How can it possibly be economically viable to bring more ‘stuff’ from outside our fishbowl back to our fishbowl, when doing so dilutes the value of the ‘stuff’ by roughly the same proportion as the amount of ‘stuff’ you bring back to the fishbowl?

Regarding Vitamin D from the sun: Yours Truly is not disputing the importance of this. However, there is another thing in play here: Chemtrails. Which brings up the question, What do Chemtrails do to interfere with the natural sunlight that stimulates Vitamin D?
Yours Truly is NOT being a “conspiracy theorist” here. But there have been times when Chemtrails have appeared in the sky here just before a storm, or just simply appearing on otherwise sunny days. There are days when the amount of these Chemtrails is such as to make the eyes burn and itch; and to also induce sinus pain.
The following three photos were taken by me today of the sky to the SE of my house (towards Durham City / RDU), and of the sky to the NW of my house. The first two photos are of the SE sky: one at 8AM today; the second a little while ago. Nobody can convince me that the low-hanging “clouds” in the second photo are anything but multiple Chemtrails that have dissipated into the low atmosphere. The third photo is of the NW sky. There are indications of what look like Chemtrails to me, but in general the sky looks “clearer.”

Technically it’s called Geoengineering. I know some people have found records in local areas where they paid for cloud seeding, etc. to modify their weather. There is more than just the high altitude “seeding” going on. Today I am seeing unnatural periodic ripples in these clouds that are evenly spaced. Some say this is where energy/waves are being used to utilize the metals in the “clouds” for some more advanced purpose. I don’t know. I do know some inventors claim to have developed technology that clears these unnatural clouds.
Just a shot in the dark here. What’s the chance Elon may know a whole lot about this?

I see them quite frequently in the early morning when there’s no clouds. Three or four in the same direction then one in the opposite direction.

Zelensky has so far refrained from making comments on the further fate of the deal or the talks with Trump. He has posted on his official X account:

Zelensky fucked around today for the last time. Now he gets to find out. It will not be pretty. I haven’t said much about it, but I have expected this war to end with Russia in control of most of Ukraine all along. Russia is much diminished from her “glory days,” but it’s still Russia after all. Unless the U.S. is willing to go full-scale war, Ukraine doesn’t stand a chance.
