Hubby is now fighting something, not what I’ve got, that’s mostly in his sinuses.
Mom & Dad are hanging tough. Dad had an appointment for his heart yesterday but I haven’t heard the result yet. He’s had A Fib for a long time & had an oblation that didn’t really resolve it but gave him significant back problems that really mess with him on long road trips.
Mom’s got a “spinal tap” scheduled tomorrow so that they can look at her cerebral-spinal fluid to see what abnormalities might be discernible. She’s hanging tough after learning about the various brain abnormalities that showed up on her recent MRI.
Hubby saw their friends at church on Sunday & the wife was saying that M & D weren’t allowed to see anyone. We called my parents to get the straight dope & it was that their house was a mess so they want to meet with their friends at a restaurant. They don’t have any visitation restrictions, thankfully. Hopefully they’ll be able to share a meal soon.

we’re okay, thanks for asking. hubby had a bad cold that he has since passed to me…mostly a sinus issue with a nagging little cough. Sinuses are my weak spot–all my colds are centered there. but nothing fluids and rest won’t cure.
Hubby & I were just talking fluids & rest earlier today. He went in to work but feels fairly crappy so asked his boss if he could go home when his very abbreviated route is done today (not working a full 8 hours+). He thinks he’ll get home maybe an hour+ earlier than typical.
He said his sinuses are draining on & off all day…yuck. He slept, sort of, half-way propped up & having taken “Nyquil” to try to rest.
I used to have a chronic sinus infection back when I worked for the government in a supposedly “sick” building. At that time the only thing that would help kick it was Augmentin, which would tear my guts up. Amoxicillin alone just didn’t work for me then.
Hope you get Plenty of Rest & feel better ASAP!

I did a little research. Apparently DeSimps refers to supporters of Ron DeSantis. Some of them are known to cause trouble for Trump supporters.
As for the loss of followers, I have no idea how things work on any social media platform and how some people make money off of them. I don’t know if Catturd makes any money from his, except that he does sell some merchandise and the loss of supporters might lessen that income stream. But I believe him when he says he is not paid by anyone to make political tweets.

There could be several reasons Catturd mentioned the overnight loss of a substantial number of followers. The twitter censorship fiascos with constant ‘timeout’ punishments and outright banning certain accounts left a PTSD-like trigger for many big accounts, and it still lingers. Secondly Catturd is showing the impact of Massie’s followers who, in Cat’s & others’ opinions, are being misled by this ‘principled’ charlatan. Thirdly, although Cat doesn’t get paid by anyone directly for opinions, Musk himself has facilitated ways that folks get ‘monetized’ on X. I don’t know the particulars, but some get a substantial payment monthly, and it is based on the level of activity, so Catturd losing 10k followers could affect the activity on his account.
Regarding Massie, it is one thing to ‘vote your principles’. It’s another to fail to form your own coalitions that offer a path with alternatives. Massie just seems like a lone ‘principled’ dissenter. He finally pissed me off this time because we are SO esrly in the funding process, and Trump/Elon have done yeoman’s work to show what is possible – incrementally – if Congress will cooperate. But Massie couldn’t even reward them or trust them after all they’ve accomplished in such a short time.
He simply refuses to support that Trump will optimize what is possible, because what is perfect is an impissible quest.
This is my question – is “monetization of big creator accounts on X” – where people (presumably like Catturd) get payments for engaging people – actually “getting money for his political opinions”? If so, then even though Massie is often a jerk, he’s technically correct. The problem is that “getting paid for his opinions” is a loaded statement, that makes what Catturd is doing (like every other big account on X) seem unethical, when it’s not – at least in my opinion.
I draw a distinction between “getting paid” (however that might happen on social media) for one’s content, whatever it is — Repub, Dem, etc. — and some entity paying one directly.
In other words, if the RNC were paying Catturd to post his content and to “be” conservative, that’s one thing, and I think that’s the kind of thing Massie was accusing him of. I got the impression that Massie was saying Catturd’s opinions are not necessarily his own, or that Catturd is staunchly pro-MAGA because he is being paid to express those views. But if Catturd is able to make some money apart from any specific entity paying him, that’s different.
I don’t think it is necessarily political engagement. I know from following several very active North Carolina disaster helpers that they are earning $1,00-$2,000 a month on their account engagements and using that money to buy additional supplies. Also ‘entertainment’ accounts – music, art, etc. – have high engagement and get paid without political virws.

All learning is welcome and needed, although, to be honest, I see the actual theology involved as a mixed bag, and in some ways indicative of a weakness in early Christianity. Not as bad as “how many angels can dance on the head of a pin” – but a fight that is not worth allowing it to distract from core Christianity. NEW: President Trump is working on a plan to build minerals refining plants on military bases to boost domestic production and compete with China and other nations.
Keep in mind that the United States currently needs China to process metals we use for fighter jets, submarines, bullets, etc. China is also a top producer of 30 out of the 50 minerals considered critical by the U.S.
The Pentagon controls approximately 30 million acres of land and wouldn’t need approvals from 50 bureaucratic bodies to build plants. This is good outside-the-box thinking

Excellent. Would have been interesting to see an oil pressure gage, and how the excess of oil would affect that.
On some of the small engines the correct oil level is just to the top of the filling hole. Other small engines has a taller tube with a dipstick in it, with markings for max and min levels. It depends on the manufacturer and model, the point is, it is not the same for all of them.
So one fine day in early summer, the neigbor decided to do maintenance on his lawn mower. New spark plug and new air filter, stuff like that. And new oil. Except — the engine was the type with the dipstick.
It was filled to the top.
And it started well enough, then a huge cloud of blue smoke appeared… It was only then that the mistake was discovered. The hard way as it were….
No lasting damage, removing the excess oil did fix this.
I had always heard that having enough oil where the pistons “hit” it during the power stroke would blow something (being that the oil was not compressible). Maybe even if the connecting rods hit the oil (although it is normal for the ends of the rods to have scoops on ’em to dip a little oil up and throw it in the bottom of the cylinder).
I had a similar experience, but with a car…. on the Autobahn B3, up by Frankfurt… by the airport (FFM) there…
Following the principle of “if one is good, then two must be better”, I added two litres of crankcase cleaner to my motor and went for a short drive to *cough* clean out my Ford Scorpio’s (Mercury Merkur in USA) crankcase.
My wife was along for the drive (and gathering 
ammo

So, we’re tootling along at around 80 mph when I decided to gun it a little bit… bad move…

So, heart report from yesterday.
Not great news. The stress test result showed 3 coronary arteries were plugged up. That’s bad because if there are only 1 or 2 plugged up, they will fix that with stents. But if 3 are plugged, it takes open heart surgery to fix them.
However, sometimes when the big artery is plugged, it makes two others act like they’re plugged when they’re not. So, instead of the procedure planned for yesterday, I’m going to a different hospital next week where they’re going to do a coronary angiogram and maybe some other stuff to get a better look at those arteries. This will require anesthesia, which, to me, is great, because I hate lying there bored out of your skull through an extended procedure
To prepare for this I’m taking a strong vasodilator, which gives you a nasty headache for about 4 days. I’m also taking Rosuvastatin, which will make existing plaque stick together better and not break off a piece during the procedure. A broken off piece can lodge in places that can cause a lot of damage.
So, after we find out the number of arteries that are clogged, I go in for the fix, stents or open heart. Interestingly enough, the hospital uses Dr. Jahangir for their coronary intervention surgery. He was the surgeon who performed 3 other operations on me to fix aorta problems. Nice guy and very, very experienced.

In 1984, my father underwent quadruple bypass surgery. 16 years later, he underwent it again. the procedures were radically different and his recovery the second time took so much less time. I was conversing w/ someone who had an aortic valve replaced because that is something that my son may eventually have to face. The choice, at least back then, was between a pig valve & a mechanical one. Pig valves don’t last super long so they’d need to be replaced periodically. Mechanical valves can last a long time but if they malfunction you pretty much just die.
I don’t know if those are still the choices but either way it’s pretty scary!

No one on *this side* has covered these judges more than I have. Unlike some newcomers, I know the record of every DC judge presiding over the latest version of lawfare against the president.
The lawsuits are by design. The DOJ now must devote resources otherwise intended to investigate the old DOJ/FBI to instead fight these challenges in court.
I am probably alone here but IDGAF about the Epstein files. I care that this DOJ is rooting out, as much as possible, bad actors in the DOJ and FBI. It is not as easy at it appears.
This is a huge battle with short term and long term consequences. (See Dellinger case.) The president and his DOJ face almost insurmountable odds before DC judges on the district and circuit court. Not to mention SCOTUS.
So calm the f*ck down, keep your eye on the ball, and don’t fall for the low-hanging fruit–which is exactly the plan of the administrative state and some who pretend they are on the side of MAGA while creating unnecessary and unfounded drama.

Sorry, Julie. I do GAF about the Epstein files. Perps ruined innocent lives and Epstein’s blackmail of the perps led to horrible corruption, murder, fraud, etc. and such worldwide – the fall out of which we still experience today.
Maybe it is just me, but I expect highly educated and experienced professionals to be able to walk and chew gum at the same time. That means handling multiples cases and investigations at the same time.

This is rewriting history, and that’s not what happened.

I’ve seen quite a bit on this topic, including reading transcripts of witness testimony, but I’m always willing to learn more – especially anything relevant to Trump’s priorities right now, vs. media and Dems attempting to force priorities in order to disaffect Trump’s base, which is exactly what I think is happening.
SO – I don’t really need to see anything about what Epstein did, or who he was associated with. I need any evidence that releasing Epstein stuff right away is a priority for Trump, because I don’t believe it is. I believe his base is being played to want it, to create internal conflict, and it’s a good strategy by Trump’s enemies.

Why am I saying this? Because “Epstein Now” and “Epstein First” (and I admit to being on those trains, too, at times) now seem like strategic blunders to me, and there is zero (and I mean ZERO) evidence that declassifying Epstein stuff (especially quickly) was ever a priority of Trump’s – during the election, after winning and before the inauguration, or after the inauguration up to this very moment.
If Kash Patel got over his skis on that topic, that’s his baby – not Trump’s. I don’t personally care. Better to admit that Kash fucked up, going gaga for quick Epstein, than to stay on a bad course.
Trump’s priorities are evident from his tweets and truths, as well as his executive orders. Things are delicate and complicated, and the CR is just one example. Stuff about declassification is only a small part of his EOs and EAs, and Epstein is not specifically mentioned in that. I looked.
Part of the reason behind this, IMO, is because there is not much if any DOJ guidance for declassifying information about INFORMANTS and people with whom our intelligence agencies have a relationship – especially if recent, or if some of the people are alive. Example – look how much had to happen with the special counsel and the Russia Hoax, before those informants were outed. It took YEARS.
Of course, the Dems know this (see Vindman and Chiaramella), so pushing Trump to declassify what he can’t even talk about without generating impeachment fodder, serves their purposes, as well as giving them a platform to go after Trump for his Dem-alleged “criminal” relationship with Epstein (see link below).
If we don’t keep the House, first thing in 2026 is impeachment. Trump knows the downside.
There are potential theories of why Trump-Epstein is too sensitive for quick release of anything important, that I don’t even want to get into, but I ask people to use their imaginations (including in “good” ways) and to consider that the Dems, with their knowledge of classified FBI information, thanks to Perkins-Coie, may know things that Fox News does not.
And speaking of Fox News, it’s time to look at what little Trump has said about Epstein lately.
I looked a Bondi, and her postings match obvious Trump-assigned tasks. ZERO – NADA – about Epstein. Press statements, etc., show her trying to fend off Epstein-related media and “riled-up base” attacks, which were clearly not an actual priority of hers. She used the files issue to great effect to take out some trash at SDNY, but IMO she’s being distracted from what are likely more important battles.
Getting rid of DOJ people who impede her has to be a top priority, other than directly addressing Trump’s top agenda items.
Anyway, the following search, which will normally bring back things specific people have said about a topic, finds very little about Trump and Epstein.

I did notice recently that one of the search engines (Duckduckgo or something in the Brave browser) returned a generic reply at the top of a page in a search query, which appeared very much like definitions or wiki quotes do, but I recall seeing words to the effect of ‘A.I. generated response’.
I just tested both.
In the Brave browser, the default search engine reply to “What is an executive order” returns an answer at the top of the page, and you have to click on the answer to display the entirety of the response.
At the very bottom of the response, in TINY letters, it says “AI-generated answer. Please verify critical facts.”

To start with, that’s not how the internet works.
Following this, any government that could “shut down” all bad websites could also shut down any disloyal websites, or politically incorrect websites, or freethinking websites. I’d prefer that no government have such power.
Going back to the way the internet works, IP4 uses IP addresses that look like 194.32.107.12. Each of the four numbers can be from 0 to 255. So, Imagine a huge city with 256 Avenues crossing 256 Streets, each having a 256-story building with 256 offices on each floor. You go up to an office, say the 13th one on the 108th floor at the corner of 194th Avenue and 32nd Street, knock, and ask the bouncer for “theqtree.com”. If you do this, the door will open and you’ll be directed to this party.
BTW, in Linux, you can use “dig theqtree.com” to find the IP address, or “nslookup 194.32.107.12” to find the domain name.
The thing is, once you knock at the door of 194.32.107.12, you can ask for more than one party. Some, you might have to give a secret knock. The public internet relies on a public directory service called DNS…..but there is no way to say that is the only directory service. A darknet uses the same IP addresses but does not use the public directory service. Once you find the address and knock, it’s between you and the bouncer.

No one has a right to do wrong (or break the law).
Anyone engaging in criminal activity via a website can be shut down in a heartbeat. I’m sure the gov’t (e.g., NSA) can do it directly (not lawfully, but they could do it) within the U.S. Outside the U.S., no U.S. Constitutional protections exist.
More commonly, the gov’t probably just alerts whoever the website host is, inform them that criminal activity is taking place, and unless the hosting company wants to be charged as an accessory, they might want to shut that website down.
P0rn, by its very nature, exists in a corrupt environment of coercion and abuse and minors. If the government wanted to shut them all down, they certainly could.
No doubt some really fine upstanding individuals, people like Larry Flint, would sue the gov’t, and that’s fine, let’s have a big national conversation about what we will allow and not allow.
We overturned Roe v. Wade recently, we can certainly overturn whatever the ruling was that has allowed p0rn to become ubiquitous.

In 1992, when Bill Clinton was running for president, if you asked the average American, “What is the Internet? What is the World Wide Web? And, what is Email?” most Americans would not have known.
It is hard to believe in less than a quarter century, the internet has transformed the world. It has created wealth for many. It has changed the way America does business. It has given birth to political movement and killed political careers.
The Internet is without a doubt the greatest tool for advancing freedom since the invention of the printing press.
It is no great shock that President Obama does not like American control of the internet. The internet was an American invention and America shared it with the world. American values of freedom and liberty created the Internet and allowed it to flourish.
Now, in one of his last acts, Obama wants to destroy the Internet.
No, this is not one of those crazy internet conspiracy theories.
Despite the explicit wishes of Congress, Mr. Obama wants to allow an international body to take control of the Internet.
The United States still controls something called the International Assigned Numbers Authority. IANA is responsible for the allocation of unique names and numbers that are used around the world in Internet protocols.
In short, it controls the allocation of domain names from Facebook.com to your church’s website. And Mr. Obama wants to give control of this to an International Organization.
What could possibly go wrong?
Since the internet became a worldwide phenomenon, repressive regimes have looked for ways to censor the internet. China has what is known as the “Great Firewall of China” to keep out materials the government does not like. When there is unrest in countries, one of the first things dictators do is to shut down the Internet.
Without America and American values controlling the internet, who will control it and what will they do?
Imagine the internet controlled by regimes like Saudi Arabia, Iran, Afghanistan, China and North Korea. Imagine these nations telling Americans what they can and cannot put on the Internet. This is the ultimate end game. This will be the destruction of the Internet as a tool of liberty and commerce, instead making it nothing more than a massive propaganda tool.
The mechanism Mr. Obama will use to allow International control of the Internet is to simply allow the existing contract between IANA and the United States Department of Commerce to expire.
Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas and Rep. Sean Duffy of Wisconsin have introduced legislation that will prohibit the Commerce Department from allowing those contracts to expire.
In 1976, Ronald Reagan ran for president and he opposed the planned give away of the Panama Canal. He said then, “We bought it, we paid for it, we built it, and we intend to keep it.” President Jimmy Carter, a man who hates America almost as much as Mr. Obama does, gave the Panama Canal away.
What result did we see?
Today, China controls the most strategic water passage in the Western Hemisphere. President Reagan and other Republicans warned us then what would happen if the Democrats gave away a national asset like the Panama Canal. Today, the national asset the Democrats want to give away is the internet.
The Internet is and will be the engine of both commerce and liberty in the 21st Century. That is, if the Party of Treason does not give it away to international control.
Every American should be calling and emailing their senators and members of Congress to tell them no. If Congress does not act by Sept. 30, it will be too late.
And if we allow the internet to be given away to foreign powers that view it as a threat, then to paraphrase President Reagan, we will one day tell our children and grandchildren what it was like when there was a free internet.”

Images are unlikely to be a concern, although infographics created by AI are potentially problems. Those infographics are almost certainly not going to be faulted to the commenting person who posts them, unless they deliberately hide an AI origin.
More likely, it will be text from somewhere that was AI-generated. Stuff from Grok, Gab AI, or ChatGPT, absolutely MUST be identified as an AI response. This includes CITED information from articles, blog posts, substacks, etc. If it’s stated to be from AI by the authors, then the AI origin needs to accompany the quote or cited text.

My reason for going to Grok 3 about Kurt Sethe is that Sethe though he wrote in in 1910- 1923 none of his work was ever translated into English, yet all the Egyptologists keep telling you he is the go to expert in the Pyramid Text, but unless you speak German you are not going be able to see what the so called expert says. This is tied up in the confusing way the Pyramid Text have been portrayed and I believe it is deliberate to keep people from understanding.
Such a translation could be a worthy project for someone motivated
