Sure looks like Geddes has made a stench of himself in the nostrils of Neon Revolt and his following for quoting Serial Brain. The funny thing is that Praying Medic just recreated an older serial brain series and no one seems to be pushing back against him about it. I do recall Wolf pushing back pretty hard against SB2’s numbers games in the past and others here have seemed to feel his thoughts have some value.
What is being argued about isn’t as interesting a data set to me as how the players in the argument handle themselves. In this case Neon Revolt is positioning himself as the SME, citing his time in the game and history with the movement. And while being right, you could say he is showing a certain level of arrogance in his response. And Geddes responds in kind. Others chime in to support Neon Revolt by mocking Geddes.

Some said SB2 was sent in, was pushed in, or himself came in to harm the movement, taking advantage of Q’s schtick of not criticizing people TRYING (and failing at) “logical thinking”.
I chose not to attack SB2 directly, but to state my personal belief that he was doing what amounts to a card trick which moves the desired card “miraculously” to the right place. Whether that trick is done intentionally or by self-deception really doesn’t matter – it’s a trick.
My money is on self-deception – among the most extreme forms of “confirmation bias” – where one searches through arbitrary connections, FINDS ONE THAT WORKS, and says “it was planned that way”, when the planning and operation are not even close to worth the effort.
SB2 knows Trump and Q won’t answer. He can say whatever.

I plant small literary Easter eggs myself, but with MINIMAL effort. So I have my own “gem-planter” bias, but it is sound reasoning, b/c I have loads of time and spend minimal effort on “gemming”. Neon often comes across as you describe, and I get the impression that is mostly due to his age (guessing he’s in his 30s) and, primarily, because the volume of information he is processing (and the number of cranks he almost certainly deals with) compels him to not ‘suffer fools lightly’ as it were, and that can easily come across as arrogance.
NR isn’t all that mature, TBH.
It boils down to each person wants to be the one who figures it all out when the reality is that it’s going to take a team effort.
Also after a while it is a lot harder to ‘suffer fools gladly’ ESPECIALLY after you realize they are not just fools but ACTIVELY promoting dis-information with the goal of enslaving others.

NO FEAR, that’s how.
The same way I reacted to the “Sam Harris Demolishes Christianity” video I recently stumbled across:
It’s always intriguing to watch someone who manifestly doesn’t understand the subject (Sam Harris) attempt to ‘demolish’ it, because what immediately becomes apparent is that he doesn’t understand why his points miss their intended target.
All he manages to do is reveal is lack of understanding, he doesn’t land any ‘blows’. And that has ALWAYS been the case with every speech, article or video of this nature that I have experienced.
So I have no fear at all from such challenges.
And besides that, God certainly has nothing to fear from the truth, so why should we?
I would ask Mr. Geddes if he has given his own question enough thoughtful consideration that he could pose an example.
It wouldn’t be easy.
For one, the fact that the Book of Enoch is NOT in the Scriptures is evidence that books which were not inspired by God were excluded, and there are of course MANY more which have been excluded, because there is nothing to prevent anonymous ‘authors’ from writing books and claiming they are inspired.
But the HARD part is fraudulently writing a book to misrepresent it as authentic Scripture, and then claim it should be INCLUDED in the canon, because it would necessarily have to ‘pass’ some very strenuous ‘tests’.
The first test that occurs to me is that any such proposed ‘new’ (i.e., previously unknown) book would necessarily have to RECONCILE with the other 66 accepted books of the Bible, and NOT contradict.
For the very good reason that God is perfect (and does not lie, cf. Titus 1:2), and God knows the end from the beginning (cf. Isaiah 45:10), therefore God does not contradict Himself.
So any ‘new’ book claiming to be authentic Scripture must either reconcile with all the other accepted books (in which case no contradiction or new revelation would be introduced), or if it DID introduce contradictions (which would be the whole point for a subversive to do it), the proponents of the ‘new’ book would have to show how the accepted books were WRONG and the ‘new’ book was ‘right’.
Good luck with that.
All the other books are consistent with one another, and the ‘new’ one contradicts, and the ‘new’ one has no other sources which agree with it, it is an ‘orphan’.
Subverting God’s Word has never been nearly as easy as those who don’t read it seem to think it would be.
I think that’s largely because non-believers think believers are stupid.
If God is Who He claims to be, if He created the universe and everything in it, then making sure that His Word was properly written down and preserved across time in a way that fulfills His objectives would be an incredibly simple thing, by comparison.
And if God is NOT Who He claims to be, then how is it that the Scriptures have been examined more thoroughly and more harshly and more critically than any other writings in the history of Man, and yet they remain unbroken?
The nice thing is that the argument will be settled, and we will all find out the truth — shortly after we take our last breath.

He said, there were books that were understood to be authentic at the time of their decision making that did not make the accepted list because the purpose of the books in the Bible was to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ first and foremost. This was an interesting perspective that I had not heard before.
I think that the important thing is to understand the holy reverence the scribes (copyists) held for the scriptures. The practice of burning an entire scroll if there were errors found. The archeological evidence showing very consistent content from century to century in scriptural scrolls found in caves.
Then there is the use of math to show internal consistency, which may be more difficult to track with, but it is a very compelling concept.

I would immediately ask him which specific books those were that ‘understood to be authentic’ but ‘did not make the accepted list’, and then examine them for internal consistency with the accepted 66 books.

Man always seeks credit for the ‘accepted canon’, which always strikes me as at once being incredibly arrogant and at the same time disbelieving the power of God.
If God can create the universe and everything in it, certainly He can preserve His Word in such a way that accomplishes His objectives:

If we remove any self-will to take credit for the accepted ‘canon’, and look at it from a practical standpoint, it seems very simple.
First, the entire New Testament was completed before the end of the 1st century, with most of them completed at a time when at least several of the Apostles were still alive to confirm, and certainly John was still alive when ALL of them were completed.
The Apostles clearly would know and be able to confirm if any book, letter or epistle was of God, which can be shown in Scripture by many different verses.
So at the end of the 1st century, the New Testament is complete. While anyone can dispute anything (and therefore the object is ‘disputed’), as a practical matter, those books which were confirmed and accepted by the Apostles during the 1st century were widely known and noted by early 2nd century Christians, who kept ever growing lists of false books and false gospels as they were discovered.
Many point to one council or another in the 300s AD as when the ‘canon’ received the ‘imprimatur’ of men. So what is the story behind that? Did no one HAVE the Scriptures for 250 years, between the beginning of the 2nd century (100 AD) and circa 350 AD?
What happened to them?
Did somebody collect them all and lock them in a dungeon for 250 years?
How was anyone saved, if no one knew or obeyed God’s Word, because all the copies of the books of the New Testament were locked in somebody’s basement? It’s silly, and only grows more absurd the more it is examined.
Or is it more likely that the NT Scriptures were known and in active circulation (cf. Colossians 4:16) since they were written, and men who thought something of themselves (or had some motive to take credit for them) decided to officially ‘recognize’ what everybody else already knew and had been reading and following for the previous 250 years?
Which is more plausible?
Is God — Who created the universe — so weak and inept that He cannot preserve His Word?
Were God’s people without access to His Word, and therefore without opportunity for salvation for 250 years?
In nearly every book written down by Paul in the New Testament, isn’t he correcting some error of men in a congregation of the Lord’s church (which serves as an example to us)?
If men who knew the Apostles personally (and whose congregations were often established by one of the Apostles or disciples of Christ) were prone to error, how much MORE error were men prone to, 250 years AFTER the fact — without any Apostles around to correct them?
This is another reason why the Scriptures are so critical. What men do and say and practice changes with the direction of the wind (just look at the mess DP outlined in her recent Thread here, and that’s just ONE church among many).
But God does not change (cf. Malachi, 3:6). His Word endureth for ever (cf. 1 Peter 1:25).
The written Word is the best and highest (and I would argue ONLY) source of Authority. It is the only source of Authority that is unchanged and unchanging, standing the test of time.
Or to say it another way, all Scripture is given by inspiration of God (cf. 2 Timothy 3:16). Ergo, whatever is not given by inspiration of God is, by definition, of Men.
Who or Whom are we to follow and obey, man or God?
“Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.” (Acts 5:29)
By what Standard will we be judged, according to the doctrines and commandments of men, or according to the Word of God?

I think many people are reluctant to challenge others’ beliefs because they have been taught to think it is unkind, or disrespectful. I think it is unkind and uncaring to not share the truth with others — especially those of like precious faith (cf. 2 Peter 1:1) — if one has good cause or reason to believe he has found it.
I want the things I believe to be tested and challenged. I want to know if I am wrong — and if so, why.
It is far more important to me to learn and know the truth, than it is for me to simply believe I am ‘right’.
And by the same token, if the position(s) which are presented according to Scripture and plain reasoning withstand scrutiny, should they not be accepted — absent any credible argument to the contrary — by those who believe God and His Word?

I think everyone is missing Geddes’s point. In the 16th century, when the revolt happened and the heresy of scripture only became fashionable, Martin Luther switched the original Old Testament for the Newer version, and supposedly messed around with parts of the New Testament.
It could be that simple.
And then there is the issue of the bias of translators. I have a lot of astonishment at God’s grace that the essential heart of the Gospel continues to be heard and responded to for these two thousand years.
Like I said in another reply, we all see Geddes’ comment through our own lens. I see his intention as a science thing. Some may see it historically – others religiously or doctrinally.

#1. Royalty & the aristocracy have used the pristhood to keep people under control going back to the Egyptian Pharaohs and before.
#2. Reading and writing was not universal and the scribes owed their livelihoods to the aristocracy. Piss them off and you could lose your head.
#3. !st son inherits the land. Second son is for the military, third son is for the Priesthood and unwed daughters the Nunnery. How else do you get rid of the ‘spares’?
Read Chaucer’s The Canterbury Tales, the only kindly portrait of the religious figures is that of the lowly village priest who would not be a member of the aristocracy.
I think it’s going to be a bit more science-based, but that’s my prejudice. Others will see it as more religion-based, but that is their “point of view”. But any kinds of disclosure – whatever they may be – require adjustment of worldview.

I know this is going to sound strange to anyone whose church has a separate ‘priestly class’ or ‘clergy’, but can anyone point to Authority (command, Apostolic example, or necessary inference) in the New Testament for a separate ‘priestly-class’ in Christianity?
Or for any special clothing to distinguish and outwardly identify such a separate ‘clergy’ or ‘priestly-class’ within the Lord’s church?
Or the qualifications for the position or title of a ‘priest’ in a ‘clergy’ or ‘priesthood’ that is separate from the congregation? The qualifications to be a bishop (a.k.a. elder) are given twice (1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9) and for the office of deacon the qualifications are given in 1 Timothy 3:8-12.

At least several major churches specifically forbid any bishop from meeting God’s qualifications, i.e., being married or having children…]
The Old Testament Jewish religion clearly had a distinct ‘priestly-class’, whose qualifications were clearly and very specifically outlined in the OT (first and foremost, any priest had to be from the tribe of Levi).
Where are the qualifications given in the New Testament to be a member of a separate ‘priestly-class’ in Christ’s church?
They are not found.
Since the New Testament was completed before the end of the 1st century, and there is no example or Authority in the New Testament for a separate ‘priestly-class’ in Christ’s church, then the practice necessarily must have begun sometime after the 1st century, i.e., after the New Testament was complete, long after Christ’s church was established (Acts chapter 2, in Jerusalem, on the day of Pentecost) and long after Christ’s church had spread throughout the entire known world.
Which leads to the next obvious questions:
1) When did the institution of a separate ‘priestly-class’ start?
2) Who started it?
3) By what Authority was it started?
4) If anyone can cite ANY Authority for beginning or instituting a separate ‘priestly-class’, what is the citation for that Authority to start it, so that we could examine it? (e.g., a decree, letter, opinion, editorial, book, article, journal, diary, ANYTHING in writing which would positively identify the SOURCE of the Authority to start this practice)
Why don’t most people ever ask these basic questions?
About everything having to do with matters of belief and practice and worship — not because they’re ‘deep’, but because they’re obvious. How does someone NOT think to ask these kinds of basic questions?
Are the answers not extremely revealing?
Which naturally makes me wonder if THAT isn’t the reason why it seems these basic questions are rarely asked… is it because they don’t like what the answers reveal?
Can it be that simple?
But if that is the case, then what is the proper response?
Is the proper response denial?

After all, whose (or Whose) church is it?
Is it ours, or is it Christ’s?

But if it is Christ’s church, then who (or Who) has the Authority to determine the organizational structure and mission of Christ’s church?
Is it not Jesus Christ?
And if Jesus Christ has the Authority, then where can we find His commandments and examples (and necessary inferences) for the structure and practices and worship which is acceptable to Him?
Is it found in His Word (the inspired Word of God, cf. 2 Timothy 3:16), or is God’s Word to be ignored, and we should follow the decrees and opinions of men (oftentimes men whose own positions and titles which likewise can be found nowhere in God’s Word, either?).
Are these not Kindergarten level basic questions?
If no Authority for a separate ‘clergy’ or ‘priestly-class’ can be found in the New Testament (it was not practiced by the Apostles or the 1st century church) then is it not, by definition — of man, and not of God?
If it is of men and not of God, then why does anyone follow it, or do it, or practice it?

I don’t I very much dislike MANMADE churches. Too many hypocrites and I have been to services in most pver the years.
Follow the original manuscript text streams (the Alexandrian out of Egypt and the Byzantine out of Antioch), and better understanding can be appreciated as to the formation of the canon (the 66 Books of Holy Scripture). The Roman Church (the Alexandrian stream) has included books that are not the inspired Word of God. The Mormons took it to a whole new level!!!
The Creator of the Universe chose to communicate to His creatures throughout the generations through His written Word. The Lord Himself has guided and preserved His written Word down through the centuries (a simple task for the Creator of the Universe!).
If you choose not to believe this, that is fine and dandy—no proselytizing on my end. My seminary schooling has not left me empty, but sealed and confident in my position with the Creator through His Son, Jesus Christ.
God’s “Holy Spirit” guides “us” to TRUTH by using the Scriptures.

What books would those be? If you are referring to the Helenistic Canon of the Old Testament (Wisdom, Judith, Tobit, Baruch, Sirach and the Maccabees, as well as parts of Esther and Daniel) they were actually REMOVED by the Jerusalem Jews between 100-290 AD in their whittling down of the Septuagint to have books remaining (Masoretic Text) which are still used without the instruction in the others. Sts. Augustine of Hippo and Jerome got into a big argument about which to use at the Council of Carthage in 397 AD when the Books of the New Testament were determined to be of Divine origin. St. Augustine prevailed and we use the Septuagint.
Really, if one were to compare Christ’s instructions to all of the books of the Septuagint, many can be found in Sirach and Wisdom.
DP—I have learned through the years to avoid arguing with a Catholic regarding their Bible. 😉
So if we call these “extra” books the “Apocrypha” or intertestament writings, they were reconfirmed “canonical” at the Council of Trent in 1546 (confirming the canon of Augustine). This was somewhat in response to the Protestant Reformation movement of the 1500’s.
I have serious problems with Augustine and his hermeneutical method (following in the steps of Origen)—supplanting the grammatical-historical (literal-sense) method of biblical interpretation with the allegorical method (spiritualized-figurative sense). Augustine’s “City of God” reflects this change in hermeneutics.
The allegorical method discards the husk (the literal-sense meaning) for the kernel of truth (a deeper , spiritualized meaning which is subjective and resides in the mind of the interpreter!!!). In my book, this is anathema and leads to false doctrines (teachings).
Aspects of the Reformation were in direct response to the aforementioned with Luther and Calvin rejecting the Augustinian hermeneutic.
Therefore, my doctrinal positions do not value Augustine’s viewpoint, which would also pertain to his canonical conclusions.

A theological or doctrinal argument cannot be accomplished in a few short paragraphs—it requires a doctrinal dissertation (of which I have quite a few).

A homicide detective is extremely frustrated. He knows that a cocky socialite murdered his wife to get her money, but there’s no evidence.
Another cop tells him to go to a magician who is on tour in their city.
Since the detective has no leads, he goes to see the magician.
When they meet backstage, the cop is uneasy. The magician never blinks, and he says almost nothing.
“There’s not only no evidence, there’s no witness,” the detective says.

“You’re wrong,” says the magician. “There’s a witness.”
“Who?” asks the detective.
“I’ll solve this case, but only if you do exactly what I tell you to do,” the magician says. He ignored the question.
The next night, a cop drives the detective and the magician to the suspect’s house. they’re in an unmarked car.
The detective says that they’ve found a witness, and they want to know if the suspect will agree to go see the person.

“Who’s this man with you?” the suspect asks.
“Are you going to come with us, or will we just let the witness gave a statement without you having the chance to rebut it?” the detective asks.
“Sure, I’ll go with you,” the suspect says. “You don’t have a witness, but I don’t mind wasting my time.”
The detective gets in the back seat, followed by the suspect. Then the magician crams himself in beside the suspect.

“Hey, why aren’t you sitting in the front seat?” asks the suspect.
“Drive!” shouts the magician.
The car takes off.
At the first corner, the magician shouts, “Turn left!”
They drive along for a while.
“Turn right!”
A few minutes later, “Turn left!”
“What is this?” asks the suspect. He seems to be getting nervous.
“Turn right! Turn left!”
“Where are you taking me?” demands the suspect.
“Turn right!”

The longer they drive, the more upset the suspect becomes.
“Turn left! Turn right!”
“Okay, I’ve had enough! Take me home!”
“Turn left! Turn right! STOP!”
The car stops in front of a moving-company warehouse.
“Out of the car!” the magician shouts.
“I’m not going anywhere!” the suspect yells.
Why?” asks the detective. “I thought you were innocent. What do you have to be afraid of?”
The suspect gets out, and the magician takes his arm, pulling him into the magician’s body.

The walk around to the back of the warehouse, where they find an unlocked door.
When they go in, the magician firmly strides forward, through aisles and past furniture, safes, washing machines,,,until they come to a trunk.
The magician stops and says, “She in there. Open the straps.
The detective opens the straps and lifts the lid of the trunk. A woman’s body is inside, wrapped in a blanket.

As the detective handcuffs the murderer, the murder shouts, “How did you know? HOW DID YOU KNOW? I killed on the night of the city-wide power outage! It’s was pitch black! Nobody could’ve seen me! Who’s the witness?”
“You,” says the magician. “Your guilty conscience gave you away. First I made you nervous by not saying anything, and then I sat up against you in the car. Every time we came to an intersection, you involuntarily twitched in the direction you drove.”

I read that story when I was a little kid, and I always wanted to meet someone like that magician.
Well, our president is like that magician.

Biden was riding high until the Democrats were stupid enough to fall for the Ukraine whistle-blower trap.
I don’t think Biden’s high poll numbers were the result of anything HE did.
I’ve been wondering how Trump would manipulate polls without doing anything illegal or unethical, and the answer came to me:
“The leaks are real. The news is fake.”
