Nope, your operating system has a completely different list of ca-certificates (certificate authority certificates). In Linux, it’s (partially) contained in /etc/ssl/certs. And E-Tugra appears again.
In other words, both your operating system and your browsers have lists of organizations to trust for the purpose of vouching for internet links. These are different lists. Under Linux, you can see (and modify) them. There are sketchy organizations in the default lists.

Seems that for most sites, the adware, localization, device detection and adaptation, and downright spyware constitutes that great majority (99%+) of the code. Years ago, Farcebørk made a change to their ubiquitous and infernal “Like” button which broke a lot of pages. I emailed them, complaining about it, asking for a fix, and suggesting what was wrong and what could be done to fix it. I got a reply basically saying “we don’t care, STFU, and just go away”… And that was when FB was just starting out… They are the Satanic tail wagging the (anti)social media dog…
And code generated on the fly – what could possibly go wrong… “W3C but not for me”… tee hee hee…..

Just for the record, there are an awful lot of Ukrainians that don’t speak Ukrainian. They speak Russian.
Stalin moved a lot of Russians into Ukraine and killed a lot of Ukrainians, mostly by starving them. The Russians never left, and that is why there is fighting today – the Russian-speaking Ukrainians have more attachment to Russia and were good USSR proles. Their families miss the good old days when they were ruled by Moscow.
In my opinion, Crimea will never leave Russia and Ukraine will have to be partitioned or the fighting will never stop. It isn’t all Putin’s fault but he sure doesn’t mind.

For decades, the Ukraine was the breadbasket of Russia. When Russia went communist on 11/07/17, the leadership set production targets to loot Ukraine of food, leading to the Holodomor of 1932-1933. The Kulaks, previously prosperous farmers, were particularly targeted. MORE PEOPLE DIED IN THE HOLODOMOR THAN THE HOLOCAUST. And many of the people who were killed in the holocaust were somewhat humanely gassed or shot, while most of those who died in the Holodomor starved. And they starved to the point where a family of five might gain an extra couple of weeks by eating one in a stew.
As a side note, I visited Saint Petersburg, Russia, in 2008 and was quite taken with their portrayal of the Ukraine — the hotel where we stayed was over a restaurant that had Ukraine entertainment night. There were Ukrainian restaurants all over. But the portrayal was just like the US TV program “Hee-Haw”. Ukrainian women were attractive ditzy blondes with ribbons in their hair wearing traditional clothing or work clothes. Ukrainian men spoke slowly, wore work clothes, and drank. It was sort of amusing…..until you started wondering whether the architects of the rural purge [ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rural_purge ] might want to engineer a Holodomor in Kansas.

Well, I think it was different then. It was a different country then. It wasn’t a police and surveillance state like it is now.
In a lot of those car chase movies, the cop was the good guy (e.g., Dirty Harry, Starsky & Hutch, Rockford, The French Connection, Bullitt, etc.).
It was the golden era of sports and muscle cars (around 1963 to around 1971), and when you have cars like that, and you have a camera, you gotta film them doing something.
And what’s more exciting that a car chase?

My all time a favorite is the 1963-1967 Corvette. There’s just nothing else like it. The body style looked futuristic in 1963, and it still does today. They never made one that looked better (IMO), or gave you a better driving experience.
This one has been modified for racing:
This one is original, the color is Marlboro Maroon. I’m partial to Marina Blue (light blue) or Rally Red, myself. These cars were practically hand assembled by GM, and the amount of detail that can be learned about these cars is incredible. If you notice, the ‘Corvette script aluminum valve cover has a vertical crack through the ‘o’ in Corvette. The mold cracked late in the 1967 model production run, and they didn’t want to spend the money to create a new mold because the entire body style was changing for the 1968 model year, so rather than replace the mold, they just repaired it, which left a line showing through the ‘o’, and continued making the valve covers with that flaw. So if you see a 1966 Corvette (for example) with a vertical line through the ‘o’ in ‘Corvette‘ on the valve cover, you know that valve cover can’t be original to the car, it must have been replaced sometime in 1967 or later.
There are details like that which can be known all through the car, even down to the correct original manufacturer headmarks on bolts, date codes on LOTS of parts, it’s an amazingly detailed thing to try to restore something like this. The research is at least 10 times as much work as the actual disassembly, getting everything cleaned and fixed and restored or replaced if necessary, and then putting it all back together.

My Dad bought a used ’67 coupe (327ci / 350hp like the one above) when I was about 8 years old, and it has been in storage (garage) since I was about 18. I rode in it all the time when I was a kid, usually with my sister in the back (no seat belts… no seats!), but never had a chance to drive it. It has always been my favorite car, since the day my Dad pulled in the driveway with it the first time. I had books about them, and models of them, and it was always amazing to go outside and see a real one sitting in the driveway 🙂
After college I bought a 1969 Corvette (350ci / 350hp) that I drove for 11 years. The 1963-1967 models were more than I could afford in the 1990s, but that ’69 was the next best thing, and I miss it. It’s the only car I’ve ever owned that made me smile, every single time I turned the key in the ignition and it roared to life.
I’ve been working on restoring my Dad’s ’67 for the last 10 years or so. Hoping to finally get to drive it for the first time next summer or fall, but things always take longer than expected, so we’ll see. 👍

It has been a long and difficult process, expensive, and with a couple starts and stops along the way. In one important sense I am lucky, because the car is very original. Over the course of 50+ years a lot of things can happen to a car, various modifications or replacing parts with something that worked but wasn’t a correct part, etc.
There are a lot of people (and clubs) that have put a great deal of research into old Corvettes, so what is ‘right’ and what is ‘wrong’ is very well known on these cars, and it takes a lot of time and research to learn and understand what is ‘right’ and do it right, so you end up with something that is (hopefully) worth what you put into it.
It has been a great learning experience in that regard. I know and am familiar with every part, every nut, every bolt, every screw on that car, and you would be amazed how many unique and specific bolts, nuts, screws, etc. were used on these old cars.
Original assembly manual, GM Dealer parts books from the 1960s, restoration books, online forums, model year specific Judging Guides, it’s a lot more effort than I thought it would be when I started.
I knew it was going to be a lot of work, I had no idea just how much, lol!
I’m close to the home stretch now, so hopefully by next summer she’ll be on the road again, for the first time since I was a kid.

The Milpitas (CA) City Council voted 3-2 to rename Dixon Landing Road to Barack Obama Boulevard.
The road leads to the Newby Island Landfill, a recycling and composting plant notorious for causing a “putrid stench” in the area.
For decades residents driving on that stretch of road have complained about the odors—similar to the way patriots complained about poor economic growth, endless scandals, deteriorating race relations, and disastrous foreign policy before Trump.

How did you find this local story from the other side of the world?
The thing about Dixon Landing Road is that there is a major intersection just south of it where state route 237 and interstate 880 meet, and this led to a major shopping center with a WalMart — McCarthy Ranch — tucked in the northwest corner of that intersection. It is super, super, super easy to get to from 880…..but requires a minimum of a 2-mile detour to get back on 880.
This may seem unlikely unless one has experienced it, but it has to do with the concept of a “basketweave interchange” where there are explicit express lanes. If you are leaving the shopping center, heading west on 237, you’re ok. If you try to head east, you join 237 after the lanes heading north or south on 880 have split, and get to make a U-turn on a congested side-street in Milpitas. Otherwise, you can head north to the Dixon Landing ramp; or south to the Tasman ramp.
So, yeah, Barack Obama Boulevard will be a road that leads to a smelly dump, where the majority of people driving on it will be irritated because it’s a long detour they don’t want, and it unnecessarily complicates their journey.

A probably little-known fact (anymore, at least) is the Dixon Landing Road interchange was completely rebuilt some years ago, previously being more or less of a one-way crossover from 880 South to Milpitas and/or 880 North. The half-cloverleaf on the Eastern side encircled a Restaurant named “Calamity Jane’s”, oddly appropriate for the many, MANY going-away parties that were hosted there during some of the bust times of the silly-cone valley (and, yep, I was there for more than a few [but not for me]).
Living up (or down) to its name, the restaurant was inundated with flood waters when Milpitas faced one of its periodic torrential rainstorms, and was torn down to facilitate building the new interchange. Another piece of history in CA plowed over.
And now this Øbomination…
Thank GOD the family members I have/had there have moved away… First Fremont, then this. The DEMONcRATs are hitting to close to (my former) home…
And the article is wrong: the recycling center is not the source of the putrid fumes: that (dis)honor would go to the area surrounding Alviso, the Alviso slough and thereabouts. Back in the day where they actually grew things there, the farmers would let the vegetation rot during the rainy season, as there were often floods in the low-lying areas of the South Bay. Farther north, in Newark, the problem was Cauliflower. Then there were also chemical plants which spewed their noxious fumes into the South Bay air. The coming of silicon valley ended most of those problems, but brought a few more.
Many of those streets (and the McCarthy Ranch shopping center) weren’t there back in the day (when it WAS a real ranch). Also, the largest Asian shopping center in the western United States (no signs in English allowed) wasn’t there, either…
Funny, now they can call it B.O. Boulevard…. fitting…

Interesting and sad that parts of history are being erased by this. There were at least three “landings” in the south bay; Jarvis Landing (mentioned in “Two Years Before The Mast”), Mayhews Landing, and Dixon Landing, from the 19th Century. Since that predates 01.01.1970, it probably doesn’t exist in the Yuppieverse, yet those landings were very important for commerce and travel back in the day. As were the railroads, the city of Newark being important both for being modelled after its namesake in New Jersey (!) and for having the “Carter Car Company”, one of the earliest and most important railroad car manufacturers… Now most of that is no more than a dim memory, and paving that over with Øbozo’s name is a bit more than I can stomach… Hope that Øbutthead ends up in the trash heap of history just like that road…

TBH, I don’t even know if my old Casio has it or not – this is my 2nd dust/shock/water resistant Casio. Have never once accessed the internet with my phone and I don’t want to. Good grief, I am on-line enough as it is!
Not having GPS doesn’t mean they can’t track you, sad to say. The cell towers “know all, and see all”; and if that’s not bad enough, there are devices which can emulate a cell tower, and do “man-in-the-middle” manipulation of your (and others’) data streams (and voice calls over them).
And the phones from the early 2000s had rudimentary internet access (anyone remember W@P? ) which some folks forgot about turning off. At least phones from that era could be disconnected by taking out the battery, which in the day of i-Things cannot be done (easily). Anyone with a bit of patience, a lot of skill and manual dexterity, and not caring about warranty coverage, could put a switch between the built-in-battery and the phone circuitry, the only question being where to mount it on the cramped exterior of the phone…
And, sooner or later (BAH!!!), the older phones won’t work, due to the mad rush toward Nerdvana, aka 5G…..

Further down in the link (I was reading this link a couple days ago from another thread, and remembered it), it appears to be a two step process, each step requiring a vote:

For each judge, a supermajority first voted to convict followed by a simple majority vote to disqualify. It’s not true. Well, most likely not true. The Senate has the choice, after conviction (68 votes), to toss the person out of office with either barred from all fed offices for life or not barred.
Alcee Hastings was removed as a federal judge but not barred. He promptly ran for Congress and won. I think he’s still there.
Also, if you are VP and become president during the second half of the term (because the prior president died, resigned or was impeached and removed), you can still run for two full terms of your own.
So if Klinton had been removed from office before 20 January 1999, Al Gore could have only run for one term of his own (2001-2005), otherwise, Al Gore could have run for two.

They haven’t votesd on Articles of Impeachment, but the Dems can no longer claim to be undecided about whether or not to impeach…they have shown their true colors…

That is where the vote of record happened–a vote for the motion to table was a vote against the resolution, and vice versa. Justin Amash of Michigan, also voted with the Democrats. Five Republicans and three Democrats did not vote.
In other words, in plain English, the Democrats, by shooting down McCarthy’s resolution, have now formally all gone on the record in support of Pelosi’s impeachment inquiry–and the Republicans have now all gone on the record against it. Even more plainly, this was the vote that formally opened impeachment proceedings. They are all on the record now.
No Democrat in the House of Representatives now claim it is not their intention to attempt to remove the duly elected president of the United States from office by force rather than by an election. They also cannot be ambivalent about it anymore. There is no more splitting hairs, no more supporting an “investigation” without backing impeachment, no more saying they need more facts to figure out what’s next. All the cards are on the table: Every Democrat in the House supports removing Trump from office and not waiting until November 2020 to have an election.
What’s more, in perhaps good news for Trump, he lost zero Republicans. The GOP is unified behind its president. Impeachment being partisan is an optics win for Trump, as it feeds his narrative that the Democrats are power-hungry and cannot beat him at the ballot box, so they are using extraordinary measures to attempt to seize the office by force.
“The Democrats can’t hide anymore,” a second senior GOP aide told Breitbart News. “Every last one of them now has the blood of this failed coup all over their hands. And America can see it.”

They may reason away certain actions, justifying them with a twisted worldview. But what is our integrity worth? Is our integrity worth an hour’s pay if we lie on our time card? Is our integrity worth the office supplies we slip into our pockets on the way home? Is our integrity worth the damage of spreading a bit of juicy gossip?
Possessing godly integrity is rare in today’s world because people are determined to live for themselves. They compromise their integrity because they are looking out for themselves instead of living for someone other than themselves. This outlook on life infiltrates behavior, which results in dishonest action.
As we look at the life of Paul, one thing is crystal clear: He lived for no one but God. Everything Paul did was for the glory of God. Paul was scorned by men. In fact, there was a period shortly after his conversion during which he was eyed cynically by everyone. The Christians did not trust him, and the Pharisees wanted to put him in prison. Yet over time, Paul proved he was not after fame and certainly not fortune.
Paul’s aim in life was to live for the glory of God. When that becomes our primary purpose in life, integrity will be a natural by-product. If we are living for and thinking about God first and foremost before we act, then what follows will be activity that intentionally honors Him. Integrity will not be contrived but overflowing.
Prayer: Lord, give me the right perspective on my life because living for You is far better than living for myself. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.

I know there are a lot of proponents of the scholarships provided by school choice legislation, but, TBH, when you let any kind of government money in, or any other donor for that matter, you’re subject to their demands. This is one of the reasons why I don’t necessarily agree with public money going to private and parochial schools. I wouldn’t be adverse to a separate private pool of money for this purpose, but you have to have the right atmosphere for that to actually work.
Public schools being anti religion in general is what led to parochial school strength to begin with. I don’t know that there is an easy way to resolve this issue at all.

I have a degree in Political Science, and I am a card-carrying Libertarian. I’ve been studying politics and political history for the past 30 years. My specialty is U.S. Presidents. That said, I hope that the House of Representatives impeaches Trump. Let me tell you what will happen next!
1. The House can pass articles of impeachment over the objections of the Republicans, and refer to the Senate for trial.
2. The Senate will conduct a trial. There will be a vote, and the Republicans will vote unanimously, along with a small number of Democrats, to not convict the President. Legally, it will all be over at that point.
3. However, during the trial, and this is what no one is thinking about right now, the President’s attorneys will have the right to subpoena and question ANYONE THEY WANT.. That is different than the special counsel investigation, which was very one-sided. So, during the impeachment trial, we will be hearing testimony from James Comey, Peter Strzok, Lisa Page, Bruce Ohr, Glenn Simpson, Donna Brazile, Eric Holder, Loretta Lynch, Christopher Steele, Hillary Clinton, John Brennan, James Clapper, and a whole host of other participants in this whole sordid affair and the ensuing cover up activities.
A lot of dirt will be dug up; a lot of truth will be unveiled. Finger pointing will occur. Deals will start being made, and suddenly, a lot of democrats will start being charged and going to prison.
All this, because, remember, the President’s team will now, for the first time, have the RIGHT to question all of these people under oath – and they will turn on each other. That is already starting.
4. Lastly, one more thing will happen, the Senate will not convict the President. Nothing will happen to Trump. Most Americans are clueless about political processes, the law, and the Constitution. Most Americans believe that being impeached results in removal from office. They don’t understand that phase 2 is a trial in and by the Senate, where he has zero chance of conviction. Remember, the Senate is controlled by Republicans; they will determine what testimony is allowed — and **everything** will be allowed, including: DNC collusion with the Clinton campaign to fix the election in favor of Hillary, the creation of the Trump dossier, the cover up and destruction of emails that very likely included incriminating information.
They will incriminate each other for lying to the FISA court, for spying and wiretapping the Trump campaign, and for colluding with foreign political actors, especially George Soros. After the Senate declines to convict the President, we will have an election, and Trump will win. It will be a backlash against democrat petulance, temper tantrums, hypocrisy and dishonesty. Issa is not perfect by any means; however, I truly admire him for putting the truth out there about the debacle of the Benghazi Committee and Trey Gowdy’s failures. He was originally in charge, I believe, and it was pulled from him and given to Gowdy under odd circumstances. At least that is my recollection, which, again, is admittedly not perfect w/o looking up reference material.
Duncan Hunter got caught or entrapped with some kind of campaign finance irregularity – maybe the same thing they did to Michelle Bachmann.

His wife testified against him bc he used some cash to have more than 1 affair. They were silent until that xame out. So, his home and public life are a mess. ISSA is basically doing the area a solid. Im sure Hunter wont put up a fight and donors will back Issa.

Heck when we have to carry lambs or goat kids with us they sit on an old towel on my lap. Then they go into a box or on a leash when we get where we are going.
