Today, Rush Limbaugh announced he was diagnosed with Advanced Lung Cancer. Here is the announcement:
Rush explained he’s already received a second opinion on his diagnosis, thought about keeping his treatment secret, but will need to miss some days behind the microphone while he is being treated.
The reaction across social media was instant, with Levin and Beck openly weeping. The left celebrated as is typical of the left. Yet, nothing can burnish Rush’s star.
At one time or another, all of us have been inspired by Rush. When and where did you first hear him? Did he stop and make you think? Did he make you ask questions? Did he motivate you?
God Speed to the Limbaugh family as Rush undergoes treatment. We want to hear from him behind a microphone as soon as possible.
Please share your thoughts…………
This was like a punch in the gut when I heard the news. I don’t listen to Rush every day because of the time commitment. I’d rather surf around and read my news online. But Rush has been a huge boon to the conservative movement. He was a real comfort during the Obama years. He has my prayers for a miraculous recovery.
You know, one of the most soothing memories I have is hearing our great President, Donald Trump, being interviewed by Rush Limbaugh.
EVERY TIME – and I mean every time I heard them talk – I could HEAR a kind of relaxed, happy calm in our VSG’s voice, so relaxed, after he was introduced, often beginning with “Thank you, Rush!” – like they were old buddies talking in some cafe somewhere in Iowa or Nebraska.
I couldn’t find the interview I wanted, but this one is even MORE interesting. Just listen. These guys are both amazing, and comrades in arms, let me tell you! And our VSG was saying this stuff in 2011!
Wolfie – Thank you for this. I started listening to Rush in 1993 – I can remember exactly where I was and what I was doing and “who is this crazy guy on the radio?” but the more I listened I realized he was a truth teller like no other and I have loved him dearly ever since. One of my favorite things he has ever done was be on the golf show with Hank Haney (Tiger’s former coach). Haney worked with Rush for a period of several weeks to correct his swing and help him improve. He said that Rush was probably the best student he had ever had – did anyone else watch this? I am sure it is because Rush is such a careful listener and diligent, hard working individual with a desire to improve himself – even in his golf game. I know we all feel like we have been sucker punched and as one poster on OT said, “there is a great disturbance in the force today.” I thought that was so appropriate. Massive prayers are being said in Rush’s behalf. I know it will have an impact. He is a national treasure and we are not ready to let him go.

25 years ago I could NOT figure out who this “Rush Limbaugh “ person was that had everyone rushing to their car radios at lunch. Over the years Coworkers arranged lunch hours around him, clients refused appointments during his radio show and farmers went back to the house from the fields. A million sandwiches were consumed in cars at lunch while listening to this guy.
God bless Mr. Rush.
Daughn, I am so utterly shocked by this sad news. I only just learned when I returned from a Bible study. One of my friends left me a phone message.. I had heard the beginning of Rush’s program today but missed the announcement, which I assume he made at the end of the program. I began listening to Rush over 30 years ago. I remember so vividly–my mother was driving me to a volunteer job I had gotten, and she had the program on in the car, and I just heard all the bragging and the big voice, and my mother said to me, “You’d like Rush,” to which I responded, “I don’t think so.” I didn’t realize what I thought of as “bragging” was Rush’s act. Well, needless to say, I was totally hooked after having to listen to him in the car for about three days, and I’ve never looked back. Like many, I imagine him to be a personal friend, though of course he’s not. I have called in and spoken to him two or three times. There will never be another Rush, and I just pray the Lord allows him to be with us and continue to influence and entertain and educate us for many years to come. Prayers for Rush and his family.
If not Rush, then continuous guests hosting on his show forever! Meantime we still got him 🙂
My late parents had to explain Rush’s methods to me. As most of the time I didn’t get his ways (like I don’t understand jokes). After a few weeks I was fine. This when Rush started in the Roanoke Va. market on WFIR AM about 1988, I think. Took a few years for his program to be featured on other AM, stations up and down the Shenandoah Valley. It landed on WLNI FM Lynchburg VA. Problem for me was the mountains that I love also block signal. Even with the availability of the Internet listening to him that way also is blocked due the expense.
I have been praying for Rush. I hope he will avail himself of alternative medicine, instead of chemo/radiation. Keto would help him. Also cannabis oil.
Rush has one of the longest biographies I’ve ever seen on Wikipedia – https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rush_Limbaugh
He’s been on the radio since 1971!
Completely shocked. Very disturbed to hear him use the word “advanced.”
Praying for strength and healing for him.
Can anyone with knowledge comment on what his diagnosis typically means? Lung cancer used to be automatic death sentence, and stage 4 … but there seem to be more and more recoveries. We probably don’t have enough details to make assumptions.
He will certainly be in prayers across our country. 💖💖✝️💟
Theres nothing to say with so little info. Advanced isnt a diagnosis.
Been a Rush listener since 1989. Sure, I didn’t agree with him all the time — but he IS always good to listen to. My youngest child is a “Rush Baby” — literally from babyhood up through high school.
God Speed and Fair Sailing to Rush Limbaugh. Sending Good Energy for as full a life as can be for him.
What really got me was his saying that he was not overtly symptomatic until just a few weeks ago.
My Dad always used to listen to him. And we all loved his ‘rush revere books’
Kea – Same here – I bought all of them for my grandchildren. They are excellent and yet another example of Rush’s desire to educate even the youngest members of his audience. I know his wife, Kathryn, was instrumental in the development of these books. God Bless them both.
So sorry to hear about this.
Here’s the Transcript in case you want to read it instead:

Very sad. We owe a lot to Rush. This hit me like news of Breitbart’s death–oh no, we can’t afford to lose this warrior!
I will add Rush to those for whom I am praying daily that God will heal. I was heartened to read Rush said he has a private very personal relationship with God.
Having lost two parents to cancer, one of them affecting the lung (my father, and it pressed on his vocal cord, which was the first symptom we noticed), I think it matters what kind of cells it is. My father had advanced small-cell. At least at that time, they could not operate on small-cell. But a friend of mine was able to have surgery, and he lived for many years. So many variables.
Thank you, Daughn! I came straight here when I got home, cause I just KNEW you’d have a thread up!
I turned to Rush after 9-11. He was a comfort to me, and such a warrior for Conservatism. Listening to him always made me feel like everything would be all right, even through eight years of Obama.
I will be praying for his complete recovery.
Aub – I think Rush kept many of us from jumping off the nearest cliff during the Ozero years. He has been a comfort and a beacon of truth to all of us, I would bet. I am praying with you.
Does anyone know the significance of the cat in the garrison cartoon?
My father died of lung cancer many years ago but there’s been so many advances since then. I know he will get the very best treatment available.
The “celebration” by the Left illustrates how ugly the souls are of these mentally-ill zombies. I don’t even think of them as human any more.
I missed the cat. Now you have me curious.
“Does anyone know the significance of the cat in the garrison cartoon?”
Maybe Rush’s beloved cat, Punkin, who died in 2013.
I knew he had a beloved cat…makes sense.
What a pretty cat! That was my guess as well
Oh, yea. Punkin the Abyssinian.
I checked at the source – unstated on the cat. But the Betsy Ross and Thomas Paine characters are references to both old and new people.
https://grrrgraphics.com/betsy-ross-first-flag-movement
I thought the cat might be a cameo by Garrison himself, but he usually uses a “hat and cigar” character, as in here:
Love that one!!!
I thought the characters behind Rush might be from the Paul Revere books.
I am sure the Betsy Ross character refers to his latest t-shirt campaign – “Stand up for Betsy Ross”, which raised millions of dollars for the Tunnel to Towers foundation. But yes, they could also be in reference to his Paul Revere books.
Rush was there during the darkest days of the Clinton Presidency. He was a lifeline of hope to many people who thought that everything was going to be a disaster under Clinton. More than anyone else, I think, he was the one that rallied people to defeat the Clinton Health Care Scam. Also remember watching wishing I were heading to Fort Collins for Dan’s Bake Sale.
November 8th, 1994 was a HUGE vindication for us, and for the conservative movement. We had been told we were done as a political force in the country and our days were through. Newt took the gavel in the House and changed history. It’s hard, in retrospect, to understand what happened in 1994, and why it was such a watershed moment for conservatism. For over forty years the corrupt and vile Democrats had controlled the House and the American agenda, including presiding over DECADES of deficits and imbalanced budgets, exempting themselves from the laws they passed for the rest of us, controlling all the committees and business in the House. It was overdue for a real housecleaning. The Republicans balanced the budget, also passed Welfare Reform, not to mention the Telecom reform act that basically gave birth to the modern internet and the dot com boom.
Rush’s biggest mistake was supporting NAFTA, as I said elsewhere. I think he’s realized that now, but it’s OK. Trump is fixing it.
Lol. Forgot all about Dan’s bake sale.
And the Rush to Excellence tours. Don’t forget about them.
Good point, Michael. I believe you’re right. Rush was instrumental in getting the conservative message out – especially when we’d been told it was all over for us. Shocked me then to learn we hadn’t had the House in decades. OTOH, there were still some reasonable Democrats around so I believe that’s why we didn’t see Obama coming – until too late. The Commies had insinuated themselves into enough of our governmental infrastructure – they had control.
Taking a tremendous effort on the part of POTUS 45 to pull the rotted tree out of by it’s roots, stump and all.
I was encouraged by Rush’s plan to stay on the air. Speaks of a strong spirit.
My father used to listen to Rush and I didn’t pay attention to him until we were driving from LA to Denver in the 90’s. Somewhere in the middle of UT, there’s no radio channels that the car could pick up, except one. It was Rush. Been a fan ever since.
This one hurts – he’s like extended family. Then I realized today is the 16th anniversary of my brother’s death. To lung cancer.
Damn.
The good news is he can afford the best, he’s got a great attitude, and the prayers of millions to support him. Believe in miracles.
Even when I disagreed with him, or don’t like his telling me what the Left thinks about us… I could always depend on him to find the silver linings in the dark clouds. He’s been a rock and anchor for our side.
This is rough. I had a love/hate relationship with Rush during the campaign because he would rarely say anything good about POTUS without adding a backhanded insult, while giving the highest of praise to Cruz and ‘Lil Marco. When he finally got on the Trump train, though, he became a strong voice for our side.
What hurts almost as much is seeing the venom and hatred spewed his way from the left. This is a good thing to keep in mind when the subject of a certain SCJ and her illnesses comes up.
No matter the politics, a human being has a soul and is still one of God’s children. In illness or in health, we are all God’s children, and as POTUS reminds us “we all bleed red”…. even those we don’t agree with or support. Reminds me of a lesson from my childhood….if you don’t have something good to say, don’t say anything at all.
I wish the best for Rush as he faces this beast, and hope his treatment is successful. We still need him on this side of heaven for a little while longer. 🙏
I’ve been reporting any Leftist hateful tweets that accidentally wander through my twitter timeline.
Good!! Wonder if anything gets done about them?
Yes!
I report like crazy as well and receive reports back from Twitter.
Actually, I’ve had good luck. Twitter lets me know they received my report, and then if the offender has been found to violate their rules – I get a notification. Twitter is able to see the hateful tweets – so my percentage of success has been high.
My husband has listened to Rush for at least 30 years. He prefers radio, having grown up with radio. He has not always been able to catch his shows, but has listened to him at least 2 or 3 times a week. He didn’t have the radio on today, and was shocked when I told him, having seen it on the shampeachment thread.
One time, Rush was talking about his hearing loss, getting the implants, and various associated difficulties. I very much appreciated that particular show, having lost a good portion of hearing in one of my ears as a result of having a high fever from the flu. He was very eloquent, as always, about explaining how it could be difficult to understand when there’s a lot of noise, not necessarily loud, around. I told my husband, that’s what I’ve been talking about! It really helped him to understand what was going on and helped both of us to not get frustrated with each other.
AMEN!!!
I started listening to Rush over 30 years. He WOKE me in a very quick way.
Prayers goin out for my hero.
I can not remember a time I did not listen to Rush. It must be at least 30 years. He is about the only radio I listened to for years.

With luck he is a candidate for ‘CAR-T’
Scientists Might Have Accidentally Cured Cancer
I think this is what has allowed RBG to survive four bouts with cancer, including two with Pancreatic Cancer.
In the Garrison cartoon, notice the Uncle Sam has a CTH hat on?
Yup. Garrison follows the same sites we do!!!
What are your go-to sites on the internet?
I check Citizen Free Press and Whatfinger.com for headlines. I like Zero Hedge and Karl Denninger, market-ticker.org. The federalistpapers.org and Breitbart.com are great. I view a great many liberty-oriented sites and YouTube channels.

I’m having trouble finding it. Just see the eagle with a crown.
She may be a lefty, but I salute her classy message to Rush

To Rush Limbaugh: I and my family send our love and best wishes to you and your loved ones at this difficult moment in your life. May your hearts and minds be filled with and strengthened by God’s love.
She is running for office, she has to appeal to a wide variety of ppl. And she can’t act like the hateful dems.
The others are running for office too, doesn’t stop them.
Nice smack across the left face. Gonna leave a mark.
(which lefty? doesn’t matter – just pick one and smack it)
I was living in Cali when I first heard Rush on the radio talking about feminazis and abortion,I was astounded and amazed !I remember thinking who is this man who dares to smash the liberals glass houses and speak the truth about the corrupt Clintons? I made sure I was tuned in every day at 9:am to get my redpill. God speed Rush.your a warrior and a fighter.i survived lung cancer and I’m with you in thought and spirit in your battle.
I don’t think I would be posting here at the Qtree (and before that at the CTH) if not for Rush’s influence on my life. My more conservative lean began in 2011-2012 when the presidential election was in full swing.
I got into listening to talk radio at that time. Rush, Hannity and Beck were the main three. Rush is the only talk radio host that remains that I regularly listen to now.
I caught the second hour yesterday, and small parts of the others. I had pressing work to do (home) that I had been putting off, so missed most of the broadcast.
He took a call from a 13 year old girl that had called in on Friday, but didn’t get around to taking it. She was asked to call back yesterday. I thought Rush was very tender with her, at the end thanking her and adding that her call was appreciated by him “more than you know”.
Poignant.
