I keep reading multiple articles about people ‘testing positive’, but I also read that the test kits are broken, inaccurate or the supply is limited. So how are all these people in random places – like the person in CA immediately after Trump presser – being ‘tested’ if there are too few working kits ???
Are they (intentionally or unintentionally) mis-using ‘testing positive’ when, in fact, they are NOT testing but rather are making a diagnosis solely from assessing the presenting symptoms and history of travel/possible contagion?

There is no state (of which I am aware) that does not have involuntary commitment statutes for mental illness. IQ is not fixed and unchanging. IMO failure to mitigate the IQ issue prior to the crime is negligent parenting and failure to mitigate after the crime is a failure of the prosecution.
Last but not least – why does the prosecutor hate mentally deficient people? Anybody who thinks that low IQ and violent acts towards others are connected is a hater. I’ve known lower IQ people throughout my life and anti-social violence was not part of their lives. Some of them can be annoying to impatient people but that’s about it.
This baby criminal could easily be faking his low IQ or the extent of it. Failing that, he should at least be committed to a mental hospital for treatment, which may include esoteric ideas like literacy and math in order to raise his IQ (make him competent to assist his lawyer).

The complaint also mentions misuse of the R-1 (religious worker) visas, and tourist visas. That document also goes into wonderful detail about how money was sent from the United States to Davao; often funds collected, presumably in small bills, were exchanged for crisp $100 bills, and then hidden in socks sent to the Philippines. Care was taken that no amounts larger than $9,000 were collected in any one place. Among the goods sent to the leader were Armani suits.

I go back and forth on this. The virus is serious, and it’s hard to contain. Therefore, we should be vigilant and prepared. But you are right that those who hate us will use anything to try to destroy MAGA. They want America to look sick and in bad economic condition so they will have something legitimate to fight against. We can’t let that happen. I know that is why Pres. Trump is trying to keep a positive outlook about the virus so people can live in relative peace and his successful policies can continue.
A couple of weeks ago grandson picked up a flu virus from co-workers. Doc asked him if elderly in the home, he responded yes (he lives with me). She then told me his strain was NOT corona but that it was DEADLY for elderly, and I should leave the home. Well, I had no place to go (was I supposed to carry it to my niece, or go to a motel where someone else might be carrying?); so I quarantined myself in my studio (part of the house), got a RX for tamiflu which doc gave me as a prophylactic and waited out grandson’s illness. He went back to work at end of his quarantine and I remain healthy. The elderly are subject to dying from the flu at any time.
The elderly are more likely to die from a UTI though than the flu, according to statistics.
That’s my two cents.

The National Security Act of 1947 was a major restructuring of the United States government’s military and intelligence agencies following World War II. Initially, each of the three service secretaries maintained quasi-cabinet status, but the act was amended on August 10, 1949, to ensure their subordination to the Secretary of Defense. Intelligence
Aside from the military reorganization, the act established the National Security Council, a central place of coordination for national security policy in the executive branch, and the Central Intelligence Agency, the U.S.’s first peacetime intelligence agency. The council’s function was to advise the president on domestic, foreign, and military policies, and to ensure cooperation between the various military and intelligence agencies.[4]
The First Presidential Aircraft
The Douglas VC-54C Skymaster is the first aircraft purpose-built to fly the President of the United States. Carrying the staff transport “VC” designation, the aircraft was officially named The Flying White House. However, the aircraft became better known by its unofficial nickname, Sacred Cow, a reference to the high security surrounding the aircraft and its special status.
In 1943, President Franklin D. Roosevelt became the first US president to fly in an airplane while in office when the Navy-owned, but civilian-operated Boeing 314 Clipper flying boat, Dixie Clipper, transported the president to the Casablanca Conference. Preferring that the president be flown by an Army Air Forces aircraft and crew, Gen “Hap” Arnold, Commander of the USAAF, ordered that a Consolidated C-87, a transport version of the famous B-24 bomber, be converted to fly the Commander in Chief. When the Secret Service expressed doubts about the safety of the C-87, the USAAF turned to the Douglas Aircraft Company to build a military transport specifically to accommodate the special needs of the president.
As the only VC-54C built, the aircraft was heavily modified on the assembly line. A C-54A fuselage was fitted with wings from a C-54B which offered greater fuel capacity. The unpressurized cabin included an executive conference room with a large desk and a rectangular bulletproof window. For additional comfort, a private lavatory was installed next to the president’s seat, and a fold down bed was concealed behind the sofa. An electric refrigerator in the galley added an uncommon luxury for 1945. A battery-powered elevator was installed at the rear of the aircraft which allowed President Roosevelt to board the aircraft easily while in his wheelchair.
The Sacred Cow carried President Roosevelt to the Yalta Conference in February 1945. Illustrating the high stakes associated with presidential airlift, the Sacred Cow’s serial number was changed for the flight as a special security measure. The trip to Yalta was Roosevelt’s only flight aboard the aircraft before his untimely death in April 1945.
Roosevelt’s successor, Harry S. Truman, used the aircraft extensively during the first 27 months of his administration. On July 26, 1947, President Truman signed the National Security Act of 1947 on board the Sacred Cow. This act, which became effective on Sept. 18, 1947, established the US Air Force as an independent service, making the Sacred Cow the “birthplace” of the US Air Force.
After the Sacred Cow left presidential service, the USAF continued using it for other transport duties until the airplane was finally retired in October 1961. In 1983, the Sacred Cow was transported to the museum, and staff began the monumental task of restoring the aircraft to its former glory. After ten years and more than 34,000 hours of work, the aircraft was placed on display appearing as it did during President Roosevelt’s trip to Yalta.

He’s proposed cuts but Congress ignored him and increased financing instead. The National Institutes of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention aren’t suffering from budget cuts that never took effect.

MIKE BLOOMBERG: “There’s nobody here to figure out what the hell we should be doing. And he’s defunded — he’s defunded Centers for Disease Control, CDC, so we don’t have the organization we need. This is a very serious thing.” — debate Tuesday night.
JOE BIDEN, comparing the Obama-Biden administration with now: “We increased the budget of the CDC. We increased the NIH budget. … He’s wiped all that out. … He cut the funding for the entire effort.”
THE FACTS: They’re both wrong to say the agencies have seen their money cut. Bloomberg is repeating the false allegation in a new ad that states the U.S. is unprepared for the virus because of “reckless cuts” to the CDC. Trump’s budgets have proposed cuts to public health, only to be overruled by Congress, where there’s strong bipartisan support for agencies such as the CDC and NIH. Instead, financing has increased.
Indeed, the money that government disease detectives first tapped to fight the latest outbreak was a congressional fund created for health emergencies.
Some public health experts say a bigger concern than White House budgets is the steady erosion of a CDC grant program for state and local public health emergency preparedness — the front lines in detecting and battling new disease. It does look like these respiratory flu viruses are more deadly to Asians than Caucasians.
The biggest problem is no one has had it before so if it rips through a community there are not enough beds for those who need to be intubated. Those people who are turned away will probably die. For some people, they just need some extra oxygen, but others need intubation into the lungs, or life support for organ failure. About 15% of the serious cases die.

Things are not looking good in Italy, and a couple of folks returning from Milan brought the virus with them, to Göppingen (not very far from us) and Uni Tübingen, where they had a conference the same day my wife and son were there for a checkup for him.
So it’s not all a ruse. The only problem is, just how infectious is it outside of China, where numbers are more imaginary than i (square root of -1), and which populations are affected the worst. Some places I’ve seen have much worse problems for folks with other issues, e.g. circulatory/blood pressure/diabetes/etc. Time will tell, but we’re on pins and needles here.

The very severe case of Corona in north Germany is someone who was recovering from pneumonia. The fact that he was travelling, and had gone to Carneval (like Mardi Gras) (hopefully not a Coup de Gras), yet had to show up for weekly checkups is kind of odd, to say the least. And his pre-existing condition, lung issues, would put him in the high-risk category for severe Corona illness, indeed, any illness. His wife is also infected. Who knows about the probably hundreds of people he brushed by (or partied with, etc.) at Carneval…
Down here in Baden-Württemberg, the Professor in Tübingen and his daughter are quarantined and apparently doing OK. Interestingly, the chief of the tropical diseases section at Uniklinik Tübingen says to keep living normally, but follow the usual procedures for flu/cold season, clean hands thoroughly with soap and water, sneeze into elbow not hands, stay one meter away from others (heyyyy that worked so well for women in Köln a fre new years’ ago…), and other common-sense preventative measures. In other words, he’s full on into the “no big problem” group.
Then in Göppingen (home of Märklin), there’s the fellow who was in Milano, who seems to have infected a number of people (business and social connections), even in Stuttgart and Böblingen (fragments of HP and IBM, Mercedes, and other tech/auto companies).

Question for anyone with personal experience…how can I get a several months supply of prescribed medication to have as back up in case of shortage…and still have my prescription plan pay for it?
There’s only one regular prescription that I really would be miserable without and I keep reading to have extra on hand. Hubby asked pharmacist but she wasn’t very helpful other than saying I could just pay the full amount and not submit it to my insurance plan.
I’ve often wondered about people going overseas for several months and how they dealt with their medications.
I don’t have personal experience, BUT my parents get three months’ worth of pills at a time. It’s a special prescription they get from their internist, and via the pharma service. Perhaps the doctor’s office might be a resource for you in this instance.
With the problems surfacing in UC-Davis hospital, your Doctor would probably work with you.
My Hubby refuses to even ask.
Contact your insurance company to see if they make exceptions for travel.
*Contact your doctor explaining the trip and the doctor may up your dosage to cover you.
Keep receipts if you have to refill on the local economy and then file when you get back.
Talk again firmly to the pharmacists and perhaps make an arrangement for them to file at a later date for the extra medicine.
Tell the doctor the dog at your medicine.
This is a common problem and not unheard of. Someone should help you and you should demand that they do. I had luck with the pharmacy, but i had to argue for it and they were military but finally relented. I think you would have the best bet with the doctor though. He works for you.
Demand that they look at your flight reservations might help. Tell them you don’t speak the language of the country your going too and wouldn’t know how to find a pharmacy nor trust one you did find because of knock offs. Also tell them the in country location your going to is remote, far from a reputable pharmacy and to costly to travel to while in country. They won’t know. Those are the arguments I made with my pharmacy when they insisted I file for the medicine when I got back. The same arguments can be made with the doctor or insurance company.
I checked a random insurance site. Aetna in this case. There solution is for the pharmacy to call the insurance company for an exception. Meanwhile you said several months, which is more than three. I’d call the insurance company first to see what the policy might be, then if they are not going to go far enough to cover your travel, contact your doctor’s office, you should be able to do this without an appointment over the phone and have them up the prescription then go the pharmacy and give them the number to call to seek the exception, (make their job easy). That should cover you several months. Also leaves you this link with other considerations that might be helpful or wise.

Training recovered patients to act as med techs, couriers, etc. would be a good thing. Pay them top coin. They can operate without protective gear, and they can provide moral support and morale to victims.
Oh, this is a great test of Chinese honesty here. If there really are a lot of recovered victims, they can be quickly trained to replace many of the medical staff, because they only have one type of patient to work with. But if China is running a disinfo operation, they can’t actually do this, because there are no recovered patients, and they will scream for us to send people there.
The question is WHY do we send people there? To infect them and send them here?

What about the relapse, and Antibody-Dependent Enhancement (ADE) problems?
Although if it is the antibody level becoming to low, it would not be a problem. If it is due to a slight RNA change so the antibodies don’t work right and therefore cause ADE then you could have a major problem.
