The article this was in response to says to expect quarantines all over the place in the future.
I think that’s optimistic. Long before two months have passed it will be abundantly clear that it’s everywhere and quarantines are pointless.
Quarantines need to be scale-adaptive to be useful. But we’re smart, so they’ll be useful. Whether it’s as big as a nation, or as small as a house, time is bought.
Gail, I’m sorry to hear about Larry’s passing. It sounds like we owe him much appreciation as a resource for your postings here. So many who might be strangers passing in the street have touched our lives on this journey with President Trump. It humbles me. 💖

He was a constant and valued contributor over at Chiefios (I’ve lurked there for years, occasionally posted under a different handle than here). His depth and breadth of knowledge and humor was impressive, and his expertise in situations such as the current Corona pandemic/madness/whatever and disaster planning/management helped in a lot of places, and I’m sure his comments went to a number of blogs/outlets.

If you delete cookies, particularly your WordPress cookie (which is where your password goes, to get you back in without logging in every time), then you need to make sure that you ALLOW cookies after that.

So yes it was from 2005.
Whether anything further has been done I have no idea. Also it may or may not translate to the Wuhan Virus. (80% similar to SARS)

Can researchers predict how a virus is likely to mutate, or are we destined to react rather than proact? Just seems like we are always behind the curve. More a rhetorical q than asking you to spend time answering me.
No they can not predict. That is why the new flu vaccines each year are hit and miss. They try to survey the viruses in the spring and make educated guesses.
From what I understand viruses normally become ‘milder’ since the deadlier ones kill their host and therefore tend to die out.

Abstract
Nitric oxide (NO) is an important signaling molecule between cells which has been shown to have an inhibitory effect on some virus infections. The purpose of this study was to examine whether NO inhibits the replication cycle of the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus (SARS CoV) in vitro. We found that an organic NO donor, S-nitroso-N-acetylpenicillamine, significantly inhibited the replication cycle of SARS CoV in a concentration-dependent manner. We also show here that NO inhibits viral protein and RNA synthesis. Furthermore, we demonstrate that NO generated by inducible nitric oxide synthase, an enzyme that produces NO, inhibits the SARS CoV replication cycle.
OK – what this means is that supplements or other inputs which RAISE nitric oxide levels should inhibit SARS replication.
Interestingly, I think Jordan Sather was saying that ClO2 (chlorine dioxide) kills the virus on surfaces – which would be the same as hydrogen peroxide or sodium hypochlorite (bleach). NO is also an oxidizing agent, like ClO2, and it’s a radical, also like ClO2. There are people who ingest weak ClO2 solutions, allegedly for health reasons – kinda dangerous, IMO, like drinking weak bleach, but it would be interesting if ClO2 increases NO.

We have previously shown that nitric oxide inhibits the replication cycle of SARS-CoV in vitro by an unknown mechanism. In this study, we have further investigated the mechanism of the inhibition process of nitric oxide against SARS-CoV. We found that peroxynitrite, an intermediate product of nitric oxide in solution formed by the reaction of NO with superoxide, has no effect on the replication cycle of SARS-CoV, suggesting that the inhibition is either directly effected by NO or a derivative other than peroxynitrite. Most interestingly, we found that NO inhibits the replication of SARS-CoV by two distinct mechanisms. Firstly, NO or its derivatives cause a reduction in the palmitoylation of nascently expressed spike (S) protein which affects the fusion between the S protein and its cognate receptor, angiotensin converting enzyme 2. Secondly, NO or its derivatives cause a reduction in viral RNA production in the early steps of viral replication, and this could possibly be due to an effect on one or both of the cysteine proteases encoded in Orf1a of SARS-CoV.

I’ve written elsewhere before about the many times I would SMH working with the Board of Trustees in my hospital. They would happily spend an hour discussing the type of vehicle provided to the CEO, as part of his contract, and pass a multi-million dollar equipment purchase in 10 minutes.

My son who works at the VA hospital here along with my daughter told me yesterday after work that screening tents are being set up at the entrances to the building and no person can come in without being checked.
There are a few more cases here just since yesterday morning. One case just 13 miles south of here. Also there was a run on tp over the weekend at Wal-Mart now it’s just empty shelves I was told. Been dealing with hubby and son both having tooth extractions this week uggg so lots of time sitting in the car,I don’t want to go into the office even if it’s just the dentist.
So, the latest news out of the Lou and coronavirus containment…Saint Louis University has cancelled all university travel. I hear UM – St. Louis has not decided just yet, even if UMSL is in closer proximity to all the action. I think the big worry is that the initial spread is through the parallel universe, not the public domain.
Whatever. In the meantime, getting so many people to self-quarantine, if it comes to that, is not going to be easy.
Alright, back to zzzz. I feel better today, but the stomach component is taking a while to resolve.
Lots of concern for 31 deaths so far. appox 2.5 to 3 million people die ever year. I’m only good with fuzzy math, but what’s the number I’m looking for that caused us to spend 8 billion dollars and tank the market for trillions? I’m coming up with 0.0016 deaths. I’m pretty sure Corona beer has kills 30 times that number every year.

We have a herd of eight deer that show up behind the house most evenings. Yesterday we had to go out to medicate one of my goats. The deer looked up, watched us for a while and then went back to eating. I expected them to disappear back into the woods.
(At this point we now have seven bouncing baby goat kids.)
One other thing , lots of huge military helos have been flying over the house everyday for the past week or so.during the day and at night. There coming from up north going south although there have been a few going north. Something is going on up north which is either Portland or Washington.
Maybe they got traded for Greenland and a few draft choices to be named later? 🙂

It appears that the President is leaving the disinformation campaign to others. It seems he wants to reinforce the message that what he says is what he means. It appears as though he was disappointed in Sessions after all. That leads to implications that his past praise of Rosenstein was genuine. My analysis of what is going on needs adjustment.
Yes, but don’t take this as reflection on Q cred. Q’s still good. The President was in Sessions camp for quite sometime as he tried to figure out what Sessions was up to, waiting on him to act. The feeling of betrayal if that is what it was or just being let down by some one you’ve trusted is hard to admit never the less explain it to another.
Q references Rosenstein in a number of posts, some at great length. His “Goodbye Mr. Rosenstein” is frequently repeated but his comments are mostly ambiguous. Given that Rosensteins’s sister is considered a black hat by many I am confused more than ever considering the President’s very public slap down of Sessions. I am afraid my conclusions about what I “think” is going on are rather muddled. Everything I have observed (from a distance of course) supports the conclusion that there is no second chance with the President. My take is this regarding the Sessions matter: If the President perceives that you have betrayed him that is the unforgivable sin. I am forced to shut down my fortune telling business and shut up.
Sessions used the power of his office to wall himself off from the President making it difficult for the President to figure out his true intentions. We all witnessed his frustrations with Sessions. Even now it is difficult for even us to figure out the level of culpability Sessions has involving the Russian Coup Hoax.
Is there a rule which says we must come to a final conclusion based on what we guessed before? Every time there’s a new piece of info?
Maybe, just maybe, DJT wants everybody to think Jeff is a has-been when he really has another place for him to serve America?

But, to prove a point that much of this is as much political as it is biological, the Democrats shot down the President’s proposed emergency tax cut to help ease the pain of businesses and employees sidelined by quarantines and other disruptions. The other disgusting pronouncement that calling a disease that emanated from China “Chinese” is somehow racist and xenophobic, so Malig-Nancy Pelosi is jumping on the bandwagon and demanding Kevin McCarthy apologize for speaking obvious truth. Yes, forget Sanders and even Biden; the Dems’ in-your-face political games with this is for sure going to bite them in the ass come November. Look, when even Gavin Newsom is unequivocally praising Trump and his team, you know the Dems are completely in the wrong and staggeringly so.
Elsewhere, FEMA seems to be on the case in delivering sanitary supplies to stay ahead of the spread, Betsy McCaughey wants more and better training for healthcare workers, how would the Marines combat this? I guess satchel charges and napalm but I could be wrong. Around 11PM last night, 1,000 students gathered and began a rampage, stomping on cars, breaking windows, throwing rocks and bottles.
Police were called, who showed up in force and in riot gear, to disperse the crowd. They fired paint balls and pepper balls into the melee. When the rioters refused to leave, additional police units from across Dayton were called in to assist.
The crowd finally dispersed after 2AM. An unknown number of arrests were made.
The University of Dayton has now closed all campus housing with all residents to vacate by 6PM today.
Now WHAT are thousands of footloose college students going to do after being turned out of their residences?

Although we don’t hvae the details, Hse Dem bill to respond to coronavirus is expected to expand unemployment insurance, eliminate costs for tests and coronavirus-related treatment, food security via SNAP/WIC. Doubtful that anything related to the payroll tax is in this bill.

Infection, hospitalization and mortality rates surely will vary, even significantly, between countries with different age distributions, circulating diseases, general air pollution, capability and availability of medical and hospital resources, and probably a host of other variables.

Totally agree. The scientists have determined that age and underlying health conditions is the biggest factor in hospitalizations and outcomes. We’re not seeing hundreds of healthy children or young people hospitalized or dying worldwide. Look at US numbers. We also can’t forget about the recovery rate. It has been holding steady at over 50%. The world is in the testing phase which naturally increases the number of cases. We will need to wait for 20-30? days for recovery, but eventually that number will rise substantially.
I have been saying we need to stop International travel, period. The virus did not originate here, it Traveled here. So perhaps at another time you can share your views in a separate conversation, any conversation, that captures the gist of LM’s comments and my own and give your “counterbalance” without making it personal. I’m sure they’ll be plenty of time as the subject of total mistrust with democrats and deep state comes up often. I’d be pleased to hear how any “fears” people might have on this subject are unwarranted. As it is I’m posting this from way back here and we would be wasting each other’s time doing a side bar.

As a response to some replies to my earlier post
Never have I said that if things do not go my way (ie arrests by certain times) I would not vote for the President.
Never have I said that the language of the President would cause me, as a Christian, to abandon him.
I have not even abandoned other Trump supporters who have abandoned me because I read Q or disagree on certain political points. If they support the President I am for them.
I find the idea that these things have been expressed on pro Trump blogs extremely upsetting. Part of what I posted was in response to these things. I continue to hope that we can all come together to support the President, especially considering what is at stake.
The other part was promoted by reassessment of some of the blows our side has taken and how they have impacted the President. I am not sure that the Sessions recusal was part of plan A, and the implementation of plan B and the resultant victory was not without cost.
I have also come to the uncomfortable conclusion that the President has suffered through the actions of some who should be loyal. I believe that he has not enjoyed the measure of support that he should have from the Christian community, which imo, has shown a remarkable propensity to honor the dollar (the financial perks they get from illegal immigration) over the lives of persecuted Christians and before-birth, tiny, helpless, babies.
I believe that people who are not aware of all we have to lose, take It for granted that there is a grand plan that will somehow prevail without us engaging on behalf of the President, and that nurse hurt feelings and lash out at other Trump supporters are in need of an awakening almost as much as those who listen to fake news and are clueless about the threats of globalism.
Q is valuable because he prompts us to look into things ourselves, shows us what to look into, and awakens us to the stakes of what is at risk.
I am not doing enough, but I sure have taken some slings and arrows for what I have done.
And it is true. I am afraid for my President, my country, my loved ones, and the world at large if we don’t prevail.
I may not have expressed myself very well, but the idea that the President has had to endure so much on our behalf and that things could have gone better makes me very sad. He works so hard,
I want him to have the house and the senate as well as a record setting victory. i think he will tell us how and who to support and that we ought to prioritize his requests of us.
People like Magamom, Carl, Wolf, Daughn, and so many others are heroes to me. I am grateful for all you do, and I will try to do more.

With so many testing kits out there now, I’d hope there’s a system to go back and audit/verify each positive or at least the critical cases and those leading to death.
