Some time back I was using Flep’s Twitter page–a longtime Q-Tree author–as a jumping off point to see what he was choosing to tweet about. He used to write nearly daily posts here at the Q-Tree sharing so much info on current events & his viewpoint was quite enlightening. He stepped away from the Q-Tree to focus on election issues in the lead-up to the 2020 election & hasn’t been by here much since then, that I am aware of.
Back then I was doing a series of posts inspired by Flep’s Tweets and actually had one in development still so I am taking Cthulhu’s advice again & working up one of my draft posts to fill in again for DP while she cares for her family. Please continue to lift DP in your prayers! I will leave what was gathered for that pending post below the black divider line that is about half-way down the page just to see what, if any, of the material is not being censored & to give us a snapshot from the pre-January 6 coup era to reflect upon.

Good morning,
I take it this is the daily for today.
At about 1:30 this morning, my mother went to God. As per her family tradition, she waited until she was alone to do so. Both of her parents went that way, as well as a number of other relatives.
Thank you so much to all who have been doing the dailies. I anticipate being back for the Wednesday post next week. There are so many things we are in the middle of doing.
Please, pray for my sister who is exhausted. My dad is going to be lost.

I often check copyrights on my reading material to see if they are pre-2001 or not. At this point the material saved from this original draft post represents what was being discussed after the debacle of the 2020 Presidential Election but before January 6, 2021 when some of us still had hope that Truth & Justice would prevail.

They could care less what you think because the alphabets are in collusion with them. They are the brown shirt enforcers who also benefit personally. If you are in with them and go too far, there is a civil settlement method where you can buy your way out of trouble. The money goes into the pockets of the prosecuting side, who are appointed into power by…politicians and their cronies.
There is no “us” versus “them” in Congress in the traditional political party sense. There is a very small group of outliers who are patriots with integrity. Some even infiltrate the inner circles of the Uniparty as you have seen play out.
I gave everybody an industry specific story and other stories of it in BIMD. Each “side” knows the goals and objectives of the other over which they negotiate, compromise with and support. They are mafioso – a family. They are granted legislative “wins” for appearances to placate the voters in their districts so they can be reelected (justify their appointment) and continue the graft and corruption. Ever notice that nothing of substantiative value ever gets enacted that has lasting value to you and America in general?
They carry this methodology out worldwide and hide behind the purported might of our now woke military. Our ability to gin up the energy sector with related petro dollar underpinnings quickly kept aligned nations and economies under control.

Judicial Tyranny has long been an enemy to our Republic.

The rarely used Executive Law that the N.Y.A.G. is proceeding under is VERY UNFAIR, and being used against me for that reason. NY Executive Law 63 (12) does not require a victim, traditional elements of fraud are eliminated (the only such law!), the law allows a politically elected partisan prosecutor to convince a politically elected judge, who may be friends, to destroy even a Political Opponent. This law may not be Constitutional and is not FAIR, and that is why terrible A.G. James chose it to use against me!!!

I was in an online dispute with some military person yesterday, who clarified to someone else that they don’t serve a president they serve the Constitution, and they have an oath to defend the Constitution.
So I said yeah, you’re right, and you blew it. You allowed enemies both foreign AND domestic to pull off a coup and steal the executive branch, and then you allowed 5+ million military aged men to invade the southern border.
Nice job. So much for your oath.
I was half expecting him to wheel out the old warhorse, i.e., “Yeah, and you have the right to say that because people like me fought and died for you to say it”, when it occurred to me that they can’t make that claim anymore.

C. Extremists Traits
1. What type of person belongs to an extremist group or follows an extremist ideology? The terms extremism or extremist are almost always applied by others to a group rather than by a group labeling itself. People within an extremist group will deny that they practice or advocate violence; instead they would more likely call themselves political radicals.
2. According to George and Wilcox, there are a number of specific traits or behaviors that tend to represent the extremist style. As a caution, we are all fallible human beings, and some of us may resort to these behaviors from time to time without bad intentions. With extremists, these lapses are not occasional; rather, they are habitual and a strongly established part of an extremist’s character.
a. Character assassination
Extremists often attack the character of an opponent rather than deal with the facts or issues raised. They will question motives, qualifications, past associations, alleged values, personality, looks, and mental health as a diversion from the issues under consideration.
b. Name calling and labeling
Extremists are quick to resort to taunts (e.g., pervert, racist, and crackpot) to label and condemn opponents and to divert others from listening to their arguments.
c. Irresponsive sweeping generalizations
Extremists tend to make sweeping claims or judgments with little to no evidence, often confusing similarity with sameness. That is, they assume that because two or more things are alike in some respects that they are alike in all respects.
d. Inadequate proof behind assertions
Extremists tend to be very fuzzy about what constitutes proof for their assertions and tend to get caught up in logical fallacies where they assume that a prior event explains a subsequent occurrence simply because of their before-and-after relationship. They tend to project wished-for conclusions and exaggerate the significance of information that confirms their prejudices and discredit or ignore information that contradicts them.
e. Tendency to view opponents and critics as essentially evil
Extremists feel that their opponents hold differing views because they are bad, immoral, dishonest, hateful, cruel, prejudiced, etc. and not merely because they simply disagree, see matters differently, or are mistaken.
f. Dualism worldview
Extremists tend to see the world in terms of absolute good and evil, for them or against them, with no middle ground or intermediate position. All issues are ultimately moral issues of right and wrong, good or bad, with the right and good positions coinciding with their interests. Their slogan is often “Those who are not with me are against me.”
g. Tendency to argue by intimidation
Extremists tend to frame their arguments in such a way as to intimidate others into accepting their premises and conclusions. To disagree with them is to ally oneself with the devil or to give aid and comfort to the enemy. They tend to be very judgmental and moralizing, allowing them to define the parameters of the debate by keeping their opponents on the defensive.
h. Use of slogans, buzzwords, and thought-stopping clichés
For many extremists, shortcuts in thinking and in reasoning matters out seem necessary to avoid troublesome facts and compelling counterarguments. Simple slogans substitute for more complex abstractions.
i. 𝔸𝕤𝕤𝕦𝕞𝕡𝕥𝕚𝕠𝕟 𝕠𝕗 𝕞𝕠𝕣𝕒𝕝 𝕤𝕦𝕡𝕖𝕣𝕚𝕠𝕣𝕚𝕥𝕪 𝕠𝕧𝕖𝕣 𝕠𝕥𝕙𝕖𝕣𝕤
The most obvious assumptions are claims of racial or ethnic superiority—a master race. Less obvious are claims of ennoblement because of alleged victimhood, a special relationship with God, or membership in a special or elite class and a kind of aloof high-minded snobbishness that accrues because of the weightiness of their preoccupations, their altruism, and their willingness to sacrifice themselves (and others) to their cause.
j. 𝔻𝕠𝕠𝕞𝕤𝕕𝕒𝕪 𝕥𝕙𝕚𝕟𝕜𝕚𝕟𝕘
Extremists often predict dire or catastrophic consequences from a situation or from a failure to follow a specific course, and they tend to exhibit a kind of crisis- mindedness. It can be a Communist takeover, a Nazi revival, nuclear war, earthquakes, floods, or the wrath of God. Whatever it is, it is just around the corner unless we follow their program and listen to their special insight and wisdom, to which only the truly enlightened have access. For extremists, any setback or defeat is the beginning of the end.
k. Belief that it’s okay to do bad things in the service of a “good” cause
Extremists may deliberately lie or otherwise distort, misquote, slander, defame, or libel their opponents and/or critics; engage in censorship or repression; or undertake violence in special cases. This is done with little or no remorse as long as it is in the service of defeating the Communists, Fascists, or whomever. Defeating an enemy becomes an all-encompassing goal to which other values are subordinate. With extremists, the end justifies the means.
l. Tendency to personalize hostility
Extremists often wish for the personal bad fortune of their enemies and celebrate when it occurs. When a critic or an adversary dies or has a serious illness, a bad accident, or personal legal problems, extremists often rejoice and chortle about how he or she deserved it. For example, right-wing extremists celebrated the assassination of Martin Luther King, Jr., and leftists agonized because George Wallace survived an assassination attempt. In each instance, their hatred was not only directed against ideas, but also against individual human beings.
m. Emphasis on emotional responses, less so on reasoning and logical analysis
Extremists have an unspoken reverence for propaganda, which they may call education or consciousness-raising. Symbolism plays an exaggerated role in their thinking, and they tend to think imprecisely and metaphorically. Effective extremists tend to be effective propagandists. Propaganda differs from education in that the former teaches one what to think, and the latter teaches one how to think clearly.
n. Hypersensitivity and vigilance
Extremists perceive hostile innuendo in even casual and innocuous comments, imagine rejection and antagonism concealed in honest disagreement and dissent, and see latent subversion, anti-Semitism, perversion, racism, disloyalty, and so on in innocent gestures and ambiguous behaviors. Although few extremists are actually clinically paranoid, many of them adopt a paranoid style with its attendant projective mechanisms, hostility, and distrust.
o. Use of supernatural rationales for beliefs and actions
Some extremists, particularly those involved in cults and religious movements, claim some kind of supernatural rationale for their beliefs and actions; their movement or cause, they believe, is ordained or looked upon favorably by God.
p. Advocacy of double standards
Extremists generally tend to judge themselves or their interest group in terms of their intentions, which they tend to view generously, and their critics and opponents by their acts, which they tend to view very critically. They would like you to accept their assertions on faith, but they demand proof for yours.

Beautiful tribute to what our family has gone through the last 18 months, especially you and Dad! To God indeed be the glory! And you didn’t even mention figuring out paying for Josiah’s WEDDING right at the beginning of the career change! The Lord has been ever present for our family and sometimes seems to shine the brightest in our weakest, darkest, most uncertain moments. God may have unveiled to you the secret to contentment firsthand as He did to the apostle Paul! As for Susan’s comment, there’s a lot to unpack there for sure. I think the big question though ultimately revolves around God’s relationship to the suffering in our world. Indeed many people since Job have suffered in horrible, gruesome, or evil ways. Why has human trafficking been so prevalent in our world for so long? Why does female genital mutation exist in cultures still today? Why do certain churches have a serious pedophilia problem? Why do drunk drivers typically survive crashes that were fatal for the other vehicles? Why are most nursing homes abundant in depression and neglect? Why do some people die so young?
The horrors in Detroit that lie just around the corner from the flashy buildings have brought me more up close with the issue of suffering than I ever thought I’d get without personally losing a close loved one or something. I find it hard to encourage someone with anything more than silence, prayer, and a warm embrace if they’re actively going through loss and grief. Anything more I fear would fall on deaf ears and appear trivial. I still don’t fully understand the complex relationship between God’s ultimate power, God’s perfect will, our free will, God’s perfect balance of both justice and mercy, and the enemy’s brief dominion over this world until the time God has established to return. The despair and neglect and poverty I see in Detroit on every shift I work is informative if not life-changing, and intimidating if not crushing.
But God has been spreading His light through people like myself into the areas of brokenness and darkness in Detroit. I must operate in His strength and peace that surpasses all understanding, or I’ll succumb to the anxiety that leers at me from every cracked sidewalk and crooked door. I have to cling to this faith that He is doing good works in this world and in each of us and that He’ll never stop chasing those that can be saved and brought into His Kingdom! I’m sure God will have some majestically complicated yet simplistic answer for why TobyMac’s son died so young and so tragically, if I remember to ask Him when I meet Him face to floor. If I die tomorrow, I already look at my life as a blessing due to the number of times I’ve faced dangerous scenarios and felt God had gifted me second chances at life upon emergence from those scenarios alive. Perhaps many of those around us have had similar second, third, and fourth chances at life we never knew of.
Jeremy Camp is another music artist that has a vigorous body of work on trusting in God through suffering. Jeremy was given the Jesus-loving wife of his dreams (after much anxst and effort to woo and marry her) just for her to die from a health condition months after their marriage. Jeremy is extremely open about that time in his life in his book and at his concerts, where he continually gives glory to God and millions have encountered Jesus through his music and his story. Did his wife HAVE to die for that outcome? Who’s to say? It’s an uncomfortable question philosophically and realistically. And it feels hollow to even venture a guess at one specific reason for the expense of someone’s life.
But knowing that God can and does use any of our circumstances for His glory and our eventual good is a comfort amidst the lack of definite answers. The enemy would have the population of this world be hyper-focused on the suffering and the trials, when in fact God has such beauty waiting in eternity with Him for those that choose to follow Him! And there are more answers in God’s Word than we give Him credit for if we only read and seek Him!
I don’t know if this helps at all, usually my philosophical rants get me more questions, but Susan I appreciate your honesty and I’ll be praying for you in your own current challenges! God bless!

Back in the day on the “Classic” HP3000 we had HARDWARE protection against buffer overflows… then again, bounds-checking is a lost art. And on the 3K, the OS took (very good) care of memory management. (Careless) re-use after free could not happen.
Speed Kills (programs). All of these quicker-and-dirtier efforts to speed things up just waste more time than they save once error detection and remediation is factored in. Just look at all the “drive by exploits” with speculative execution plaguing Insmell and AMDoof (and probably the others, as well, ARM, PowerPC, and the rest of the seven dwarfs)…

Yours Truly is using Google Chrome. When I typed in The Q Tree in the URL bar, the screen “jiggled” a little, then the “Not secure” notification popped up in the URL bar before The Q Tree URL. I haven’t logged out of WP, but there’s no WP bar of any type at the top of the page. Am going to close Chrome and try Firefox.
Try Firefox and turn OFF the “Enhanced Tracking Protection” (shield icon at the left of the URL) for this site.
Then, you can get to the list of posts at this URL:

I’m kind of glad that the Time Capsule aspect of the draft post was compiled nearly 3 years ago. There’s no way that we can objectively look back to assess how we were then & what was going on around us. So many of Flep’s shared tweets still being functional gives us a decent glimpse into what he, & likely we, were focused on surrounding the 2020 election before things went completely off the rails.

MCCARTHY BOOTED — THERE IS A DISTURBANCE IN THE FORCE

Normally I shy away from discussing the political kabuki theater of Washington, DC. Especially the political wrestling that defines the U.S. Congress. But the ejection of Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy is a big deal and has direct effects on U.S. foreign policy — Ukraine in particular.
McCarthy won the right to become Speaker because he was a gifted player of the political game in the House of Representatives. What does that mean? He was good at raising money and passing it along to members of Congress who in turn were obligated to support him. Only one little problem — the Republican Freedom Caucus. They sent McCarthy a letter last week outlining their concerns about going along with a “Continuing Resolution” and the Speaker told them to go pound sand. Read the letter for yourself:

McCarthy became Speaker in January after making a number of promises to members of the Freedom Caucus, which included handling appropriation’s bills separately rather than mashing them all together in a continuing resolution. McCarthy broke that promise. That is why the Freedom Caucus threw the switch and forced the vote on the floor. Kevin learned that the other McCarthy (actually Paul McCartney) was right — Money Can’t Buy Me Love.
Prodigious fund raising was not enough to placate those Republicans who expected Kevin to honor his promises.
So what next? The leading candidate to replace McCarthy is Steve Scalise. Scalise always has been a good soldier — I mean that he did not try to jump the line and push his way to the top. He is not a man consumed by ambition and ego. He learned the hard way that life is precious and short after he was shot by a Bernie Sanders supporter in June, 2017. Still, he is a creature of the Washington, D.C. political cess pool. There are only two questions Scalise needs to answer to win over the Freedom Caucus. Will he fight the Deep State? Will he honor his promises?
Besides Scalise there is Byron Donalds. He is the dark horse (and NO, I am not referring to the color of his skin). Byron is a rising star in the Republican ranks, but he is a very junior guy. He has not been in Washington very long, which actually plays to his favor among the Freedom Caucus. Representative Donalds is an articulate, smart man who made his money in the financial/banking industry. He is astute. I know that some of the big time Washington lobbyists don’t like Donalds, but I suspect that is because he is not out begging them for money and getting chained to the lobbyist train.
There is a small group of Republicans that are completely fed up with the incestuous corruption that infests the House and the Senate. It smells when career politicians like Pelosi, Biden, and Mitch McConnell wind up as multi-millionaires after spending years in DC. They want to put an end to the practice of going to Washington to get wealthy.
This upheaval increases the risk that the U.S. Government will shutter its operations in 45 days because the Republicans first have to sort out who will be Speaker and that is likely to involve arduous horse trading. Once you have the Speaker then you have to re-start negotiations with the Senate on how to keep the Government operating.
I believe that Ukraine is on the chopping block. There are enough members of the House who are furious over spending billions in Ukraine while the security of the southern U.S. border is ignored. There are even some Democrats miffed over the paltry sums allocated to assist the decimated residents of Maui while Zelensky and his crew are rolling in dough.
The Biden Administration, in my opinion, will be tempted to do something dangerous and provocative in Ukraine, such as launching a false flag attack. For example, rupturing the Zaporhyzhia Nuclear Power plant and blaming it on Putin in order to create a physical disaster that would be used to accuse Republican holdouts of helping Putin rather than sending much needed cash to Ukraine.

When I was growing up 60-70 years ago, we had these all the time (Conelrad stations, etc.). No big deal… Now AM has been killed off (and it was home to many independent stations, and cheaper to set up), and FM all but gone, the Conelrad “Emergency Broadcast System” is all but gone…..
Problem is, the gubmint is SO CROOKED that no-one would believe any emergency message that was sent out EVEN IF IT WERE A REAL EMERGENCY!!!!

Remember to spread far and wide in comments, especially on mainstream outlets, that the appointment of a CA senator from Maryland is exemplary of Democratic/left’s lax view of residency requirements. If they don’t care about the residency of a senate appt, they certainly won’t care about it as a requirement for the average voter. This deeply impacts voter registration and makes it ripe for abuse, which is the heart of voter fraud. CA allows conditional voting the day of the election. You just claim you moved to that county or can’t get to your home registered county and you get to vote. It is conditional, as someone is supposed to check on it, but how do we know this is happening? remember, CA does not require IDs to vote, either. So residency is seen as in flux and the default is to allow the voter to vote no matter what they say. Ripe for fraud and abuse. Don’t allow this to happen in your state and county, either. It’s the open door for fraud.

Brave seems to think that their requirements for “secure” are met, yet still present the “not secure” icon.
I think this is because Chrome (the “engine” underneath most web browsers) has problems with some libraries it is using, and the exploit involves image-handling routines… the various security info sites are not being very, erm, forthcoming about it, and the exploit is said to involve more than just Chrome-don’t-get-ya-home… AFAIK there are already zero-day exploits out in the wild…
Might be worth checking if there’s a browser update available; the “appleverse” also has some updates floating around…

Retired Magistrate here: So Jim Jordan is going to run for Speaker of the House; not good. Jordan is McCarthy 2, just shorter. I live in Jordan’s district and he has not done anything for people in this district or the people of Ohio let alone the U.S.
I think the whole drama between McCarthy and Gaetz was orchestrated to make MAGA individuals think that now somebody, Gaetz, is actually going to do something. McCarthy will end up better off financially than he is now; Gaetz looks like a hero and Mr. Imma going do something, (Jordan) is what we are left with. Jordan was McCarthy’s pit bull, talked tough but never did anything. That made the RINO’s happy and a lot of conservatives believed that Jordan, someday, some how would actually do something. When Gaetz sang the praises of Jordan and stated that he would make a good speaker, that is when I knew the whole McCarthy ouster was just another Republican side show to keep the masses happy.
Call me a cynic; I am.
If this perspective is accurate it reminds me of John Kasich in the 1990s. He presented himself as the ideal conservative but stayed in the snake pit too long and turned into a uniparty patriot. Money and power are powerful elixirs.

It looks like the U.S. dollar is dead as a reserve currency either way, the Hussein/Brandon administration murdered it on purpose.
The only question is time. At the moment, the U.S. dollar is, as they say, ‘the least dirty shirt in the laundry’.
But as the rest of the world realizes what we already know, that the U.S. no longer exists as a Constitutional Republic and was stolen by a consortium of hostile foreign interests — while the military stood around and did nothing — and is now run by humanity-hating psychopaths who want to destroy Western civilization, confidence in the dollar will eventually collapse.
They supposedly have 200+ PhDs at the unconstitutional FED foreign central bank.
They know exactly what they’re doing, they always have.
The premise that the FED has ever tried to help the economy, or America, has always been a lie.
The question is, where will people go for a safe haven, when the U.S. dollar is already the least bad of the corrupt fiat currencies?
BRICS is trying to establish an alternative, but beyond using any BRICS currency as a settlement instrument (instead of the dollar), who in their right mind is going to hold BRICS currency as a store of value? Who is going to trust Chyna (CCP)? Who is going to trust Russia (oligarchs)? Who is going to trust Brazil or India? Who is going to trust SOUTH AFRICA?
If any of these countries on their own were suitable, they would already be viable alternatives individually, but they’re not. How are they going to be any more viable as a bickering conglomerate of conflicting interests?
Who is going to hold BRICS as a Treasury Reserve asset, as so many countries have held U.S. Treasury Bonds? I suspect no one will, least of all Russia, Chyna, Brazil, India or South Africa.
They may settle international trade in BRICS to avoid the U.S. dollar, but then they will need to convert the BRICS to their own sovereign currency.
And their own sovereign currencies aren’t better than the U.S. dollar, they’re worse (remember, the U.S. dollar is the least dirty shirt in a dirty laundry).
So BRICS doesn’t solve the store of value problem, it just creates a means of international trade settlement before conversion to each trading partner’s home currency, which itself is in worse shape than the U.S. dollar.
So as a practical matter, what does that leave?
Politicians and bankers destroy the value of every fiat currency they ever touch.
What fungible assets exist, which have no (or minimal) political or other counterparty risk?
What is left?
Gold, silver and Bitcoin.
As far as I can tell, Bitcoin is not understood by most people over 50 (or maybe younger!), and there is no point in trying to reason with them (it’s no different than trying to reason with someone over masks, or vaccines, or depop, etc.), so for them, Bitcoin may as well not exist. I talked to my college roommate the other day, and he has heard of Bitcoin, but doesn’t know anything about it, it’s not even on his radar.
So that leaves gold and silver.
Unfortunately, gold and silver prices are manipulated by the same people who debase and abuse the U.S. dollar. This manipulation seems to primarily come from the paper Futures markets, where the major bullion banks can sell gold and silver Futures contacts short, to put relentless downward pressure on the spot price.
Whenever metals prices surge, the bullion banks can exert essentially unlimited downward pressure on the price by short selling Futures contracts of silver and gold.
When the buyers (retail investors and commercial buyers) are exhausted, price goes down, and the bullion banks cover their short sales. And when buyers stand for delivery of the underlying metal, in attempts to drain the COMEX and force the price higher, the bullion bank coffers are continually being replenished from the mining industry, who need to sell their product (silver, gold and byproduct metals) to fund operations.
Rinse, and repeat. For decades.
So inflation keeps going up, the value of the dollar keeps going down, but gold and silver priced in U.S. dollars remains very stable. In some countries, silver and gold are already at all time highs, but you would never know it, living inside our fish bowl.
If the value / purchasing power of the U.S. dollar keeps going down, and the manipulated spot price of silver and gold remain relatively constant in U.S. dollar terms, then the value (buying power) of gold and silver is being debased right along with the U.S. dollar.
In America only, because America ALSO still has (for the time being) the world reserve currency.
In other countries, gold and silver are viable escape hatches, because gold and silver are rising in terms of their own national currency.
So what can Americans do, besides wait (and hope) that the banking cartel’s stranglehold on precious metals is somehow broken, at some point, by someone who has yet to materialize?
I don’t know any answer to that question besides Bitcoin.
TCTB are actively going to try to control the spot price of Bitcoin in the same way that they control the price of gold and silver.
The SEC long ago approved Futures ETFs for Bitcoin, which they can use to control price, it’s the SPOT Bitcoin ETF that they are resisting approval of, with all their might.
But now Blackrock (and Vanguard, and Fidelity, and ArkInvest, and multiple others) have applied for Bitcoin ETFs.
The only one that matters (to get the ball rolling) is Blackrock, because Blackrock is the insider of insiders, so now that Blackrock is onboard, it will happen, and when Blackrock’s Bitcoin ETF is approved, all the others will have to be also, soon thereafter.
But Blackrock will be granted the ‘first mover’ advantage.
If I remember correctly, the total assets under management of the funds currently seeking Bitcoin ETF approval is at least $40 trillion.
Blackrock itself has at least $10 trillion AUM and some claim they have as much as $20 trillion in AUM. Apparently nobody really knows.
These funds are going to allocate SOME portion of their assets to Bitcoin.
If they allocate 1% of AUM to Bitcoin, that’s $400 billion dollars flowing into Bitcoin, an asset whose total current market cap is ‘only’ $540 billion dollars.
Considering that Bitcoin has outperformed every other mainstream investment vehicle for the past decade, the clients of these asset management funds are likely to demand more than a 1% allocation.
If they allocate just 5% of AUM to Bitcoin, that’s $2 trillion flowing into an asset with a current total market cap of ‘only’ $540 billion.
The market cap of worldwide gold bullion is estimated to be around $10 trillion to $12 trillion. Many people who think about this stuff seriously expect Bitcoin market cap to eclipse gold and eventually to eclipse the worldwide market cap of real estate, because of all the advantages Bitcoin has over both gold and real estate. I am well aware how crazy that sounds to people who haven’t given it much (or any) consideration.
To make matters worse (or better, depending on how you look at it), the Bitcoin ‘halving’ is coming up in April 2024.
The ‘halving’ occurs every four years, and what it means is that the Bitcoin miners begin receiving only half the amount of Bitcoin mined for the same amount of ‘work’.
The Bitcoin supply is cut in half.
Since Bitcoin mining is a cutthroat business and many miners have razor thin profit margins, when the ‘halving’ occurs, this forces many miners out of business, i.e., only the strong survive to the next ‘halving’.
If Bitcoin supply is cut in half, but demand remains constant, price goes up. If demand increases, price goes way up. If for some reason demand drops, mining becomes unprofitable, so miners shut down their rigs to stop losing money, until demand rises enough to make mining profitable again, at which point they switch on their mining rigs again. The process is self-balancing, due to how Bitcoin was designed with regard to the self-interest of buyers, sellers and miners.
This ‘halving’ will be happening at the same time as all the Bitcoin ETFs are being approved, probably early next year. Blackrock will insist that their ETF is approved before the ‘halving’, because it is immediately after the ‘halving’ that the price jumps. Blackrock (and all the others) want to get in before the price goes up, they want to front-run the Bitcoin ‘halving’ price increase, they don’t want to be chasing Bitcoin as it gets more expensive after the ‘halving’ happens.
And to put the cherry on top, the FASB accounting standards have miraculously and coincidentally (wink, WINK) been changed to allow corporations to hold Bitcoin on their balance sheets at market value. Michael Saylor (founder of MicroStrategy) has been a vocal proponent of this change in accounting standards.
Before, if, for example, your company bought Bitcoin at $30k, and it dropped to $15k, you had to write it down to $15K and show the 50% loss even if it was unrealized, but if Bitcoin went back up to $45k, you had to keep showing it at whatever the lowest price was ($15k).
So because of the accounting standard that was in effect, practically no corporation (besides MicroStrategy and very few others) held any substantial amount of Bitcoin on their company balance sheet.
Now, they can, because the accounting rules were changed, so that corporations can value their Bitcoin the same way they would report U.S. Treasuries (or cash) on their quarterly accounting statements.
Holding cash while it is being debased by the gov’t is a losing proposition, so many companies give it back to the shareholders (dividends) or buy back their own company stock, or invest in Treasuries paying around 4% interest (inflation is higher than 4%, but 4% is better than nothing).
Now companies can hold Bitcoin without being penalized by the previous accounting standards, so many companies will begin adding Bitcoin to their corporate balance sheets too.
Until the Bitcoin ETFs arrive, the main options available to mainstream (individuals and corporations, IRAs, etc.) to have exposure to Bitcoin was via proxies like MicroStrategy and the Grayscale Bitcoin Trust.
Grayscale Bitcoin Trust often trades at a discount to spot price, but since it is a trust, it also has fees, which if I remember correctly, amount to about 2% compounded annually.
MicroStrategy has no fees, and unlike a trust or an ETF, MicroStrategy can raise cash to buy Bitcoin whenever they think it is a good time to do so, by whatever means makes the most sense at the then-current market conditions (raise money by selling stock, borrow money at low interest, sell corporate bonds, etc.).
So MicroStrategy is a slightly leveraged way to have exposure to Bitcoin, without fees.
What is ‘nice’ about MicroStrategy is that the Founder of the company, Michael Saylor, also happens to be the #1 spokesman and proponent for the entire Bitcoin industry, and he has both the knowledge of Bitcoin and the ability to explain it in a way that is interesting and easy to understand, which makes him about the most ideal ‘ambassador’ an asset like Bitcoin could have.
He’s not globalist Larry Fink.
If anything, Michael Saylor is more like John Galt. So Saylor is the good guy, and Fink is Lex Luthor.
And a lot of MicroStrategy retail investors gravitate toward that investment vehicle because of Michael Saylor’s leadership, because they like him as a person (and see him all the time, he must do interviews every single day, which are then posted on youtube), and because of the track record he has established.
At the moment, I think MicroStrategy has 158,400 Bitcoin, and until the next reporting period, we won’t know how much of the remaining (recently raised) $600 million has been spent on buying more Bitcoin. He could add about 22,000 more Bitcoin to MicroStrategy’s total at the current Bitcoin price.
Grayscale Bitcoin Trust has (I think) around 600,000 Bitcoin, and many people speculate that Blackrock is going to try to buy Grayscale Bitcoin Trust the moment the Blackrock ETF is approved.
Unlike every other financial asset on planet earth, Bitcoin has a finite supply.
There can only ever be 21 million mined, of which 19 million have already been mined, and the last Bitcoin will be mined about 100 years from now (if I remember correctly). This is a function of the mining difficulty increasing and the supply being cut in half every four years.
So the vast majority that will ever be mined has already been mined. And of that 19 million that has been mined, an estimated 5 million has been “lost” and is unrecoverable. The larger chunks can be ‘seen’ on the blockchain, but it cannot be retrieved (e.g. the owner, some early investor who bought when Bitcoin was cheap, died unexpectedly without leaving his access codes to anyone). Smaller amounts are lost every day by people who self-custody (and who make a mistake in data entry during a transaction), which adds up over time.
So that leaves about 14 million Bitcoin available in a world of 8+ billion people.
And the majority of the 14 million Bitcoin is already in the hands of longterm holders (a.k.a. HODLERS, misspelled purposely), who aren’t selling until prices are much higher, if ever.
Because once Bitcoin reaches a plateau in value, whether that’s $500k or $1 million or $10 million per Bitcoin, people will hold it like real estate, and take out low interest loans against it, and as Bitcoin continues to rise at least 10% per year, roll those loans over into new loans as the value of the asset keeps rising, thereby removing the incentive to ever sell their Bitcoin.
So it becomes like holding NYC or San Fransisco real estate, except it’s portable and not subject to mismanagement or upkeep expense (or dealing with tenants or insurance or property taxes).
All of these things (and more) are converging.
The biggest of the Big Players (Blackrock) have arrived, and will be buying any significant dips, but they will have to compete with retail investors, because everyone who pays attention to the crypto markets generally, knows about the ‘halving’ next April, and the imminent Blackrock ETF (and all the others that will follow), and the changes to corporate accounting standards, and what that all means.
TPTB have tried to destroy Bitcoin, because it is a threat to the entire fiat system.
They can’t destroy Bitcoin, because there is no CEO, there is no ‘owner’, it is not ‘centralized’ so there is no one and no thing for TPTB to attack or silence or cancel.
So it looks like TPTB have finally decided that if you can’t beat ’em, join ’em.
And TPTB have all the big money.
So it should be an interesting next year or so, what with cascading economic crises, potential war crises, the presidential election (and how Cabal will thrash about like a demon being cast out of possessed person), and of course, how Bitcoin reacts to all of the above.
If anyone wants to have a little fun, consider buying a single share of MicroStrategy (ticker symbol MSTR). One share costs about $320 today. If it goes to zero, the most you could lose is $320.
Having a share would be an incentive to learn more about it and to pay attention to what’s going on. It’s more interesting (naturally) if you stand to gain something from it.
It might even turn out to be something you’re glad to know about 😉

Reminds me of one of my friends in high school, driving around in his Mom’s early 1980s Thunderbird, suddenly coming down with ‘sleeper’s disease’ when somebody new was in the car with us.
