I am SICK!…. (and tired) 🙂 of this BS notion that “we” (except natives american indians) are ALL “Immigrants”! NO! “we” are not ALL “Immigrants”. “Immigrants” are people that once held allegiance somewhere else and then BECAME citizens of the USA. Those of us BORN here (With American parents) are “Natural Born Citizens” (unlike Obungler)……

Good rant. This would make some extremely awesome graphics with color codes, too. Geographic distribution versus averate number of generations of native status. DEMS would be the party of foreign occupation.
Actually I don’t like the term “Native American” as applied to Amerinds, because “native” is a term that describes an individual. It applies to me, and it applies to many others on this site as well.
The Canadians call them “First Nations” which makes a LOT more sense to me; “nation” is a term that applies to a group of people and describes, in essence, an ethnicity; those are the ethnicities that were here first. Historically and linguistically accurate.
First Nations also accurately paints the picture that they too arrived here at some time in the past.
