Some Are Wondering Why Sex Has Disappeared From Movies…my guess is that the Left has so downplayed the natural roles of, and differences between, male and female that they do not want to promote them in the movies. It is politically incorrect to highlight the differences that make each of the two genders interesting to the other, not just in physical appearance, but through what each has to offer in intangibles. The sexual tension and flirtation of older movies can’t be promoted if there are 37 genders and we are not supposed to celebrate the real ones, even if celebrating the real genders would sell more tickets.
I just figured it was the Junior Anti-Sex League from 1984.
The irony is how much Hollyweird shoved this down our throats for so long, and how much grooming they’ve been doing of children for at least 50 years.
But this was NEVER sustainable. For every Larry Flynt pushing the limits of the first amendment you’ve got some WAP feminist crusading against it. Within liberal academic the pressure was palpable – do you support liberal free speech (which isn’t about free speech but getting one’s jollies ala Michel Foucault under the auspices of enlightenment) or do you support women’s liberation?
They’ve kicked the can down the road and now all the bills are coming due. Suddenly it’s no longer popular for a leftist (no longer liberal) to support free speech, and all the extremes of the elite leftist male hedonism have created a massive pushback. The new puritanism is not so much about righteousness and holiness as it is Marxist morality plays where male sexuality is evil and feminist women (not normal women) are the victims.
The decline of eroticism in cinema is the shifting sands of cultural morality. I’m not shedding any tears for it. Once the left figures out that their woke enlightened womyn can have their own carnal epiphany, the in-your-face scenes of liberated lesbians will be back in force, doing what they can to drive the populations and masses toward androgyny.
If they were serious about such things – which they are not – they would focus on a healthy portrayal. Which is to say, that stories of young people falling in love for character over attraction (Sense and Sensibility, anyone?) and choosing to marry well would experience a revival. Stories about close and loving families, where the parents – SHOCKER – actually LOVE each other, RESPECT each other, have children, and embrace the creational parts of their nature without resorting to lewd camera tricks.
Every evening my kids clamor to watch the Cosby Show. They think the episodes are hilarious and watch them over and over. I’m kind of sick of them honestly, and I have schoolwork to do. But they still can’t get enough. I’m sure this will pass as the weather warms up and there are more outdoor activities to do. The left HAD to get Bill. They needed Bill out of the way b/c he was too conservative, had too big a hold on the black moral imagination. He actually wanted young black men to take up responsibility – the left couldn’t have that. They needed him gone to build up BLM and riots – that’s what that was all about. We can argue all day long about whether the charges were real or not – but what we can’t deny is that the moral panic over Bill was manufactured outrage and weaponized leftist character assassination.
The Cosby show wasn’t perfect by any stretch but it was a far sight better than the toxic waste that Hollyweird pumps out. Family, not manufactured bawdy scenes, drove the heart of the narrative.
The reality is most of it was unnecessary to plot lines. I would imagine the focus group testing that’s done in Las Vegas indicated that it was not why people were going to the movies.

Cooking really only involves five elements, which anyone can (and should) master.
You have your food item, something to hold the food, a heat source, the passage of time, and observation.
And it always goes in the same order.
The food item goes in the food holder, the food holder goes on (or in) the heat source, time passes, and you watch (or check the food item after a specific increment of time).
That’s it.
It won’t work in any other order, so as long as you don’t skip a step (skipping the last one is the most common error), you can’t really screw it up.
The only trick is to not leave the food holder on the heat source so long that it overcooks, or worse, catches on fire.
That’s where ‘observation’ plays a key role 👍

When I was dropped off at college in OK, my family drove me there from MI, Mom handed me a laundry cheat sheet so I would “know” how to do my own clothes. I lived on popcorn & ramen noodles (sometimes augmented with eggs &/or cabbage) when living in an apartment & was content doing other things with my time & (lack of) money!

I have encountered two primary problems with reheating which must be overcome, in order to develop basic competency:
1) failure to stir, flip or otherwise manipulate the leftovers for even heat distribution during the reheating process
2) failure to periodically test whether the leftovers are too cold, too hot or just right
The second concept can be gleaned from a popular porridge tutorial I found called Goldilocks and the Three Bears.
I’ve never actually had porridge, but I can report that the principle is consistent with every other food I have tried, so really, it’s like a food temperature guide for life, and accessible to practically all ages 👍
If you can successfully heat 2 frozen burritos 🌯 in the microwave, you too can become a master at reheating. 😃

And frozen introduces a whole ‘nother order of complexity.
Then there’s the potential for ethnic uncertainty that often comes with exotic foreign meal preparation, not to mention throwing some math in there to complicate things by doubling up.

Most microwave turntables do one revolution in 10 seconds. If you do a time that ends in 5, your food ends up in the back.
I can reheat some of them. Either the center is still frozen, or the burrito has leaked all over the plate.
Reduced power, longer time= more even temp.
Which is sometimes what you want and sometimes not. If you want a steak cooked “medium”, you have to cook it hotter than a steak “well done”.

The same principle applies on the grill. You have to cook mediums faster and hotter than well-dones.

NS conducted a so-called “controlled release” of carcinogenic chemicals on Feb 6, 3 days after the 150-car train derailed in East Plaestine, Ohio.
explosives were used to create holes in the derailed tanks to enable the slow release of deadly chemicals into nearby trenches dug into the ground. Flares lined those trenches which ignited the chemicals over the course of days.
PA Gov. Josh Shapiro sent a letter to Shaw last week suggesting that NS had other options available than the “controlled release”..the letter also raises concerns about NS’ failure to explore and/or articulate alternate courses of action…and its failure to notify state/local response agencies of their intention to burn and vent all 5 cars containing vinyl chloride rather than just the single car NS personnel originally identified.

Bad things have happened and continue to happen, and it appears that NS is the designated villain in this morality play, but we keep hearing things that just don’t make sense and there is nothing that shows that the narrative corresponds to actual reality.

Norfolk Southern doesn’t own the contents, doesn’t own the cars, and is responsible for pulling things from A to B over rails they maintain — their primary expertise is not chemical engineering.
In addition, the primary burn-off chemical was vinyl chloride, a gas. How does one decide to vent gases into trenches?
I understand that it might be profitable to rile up a lynch mob to go after NS, but I’m not finding The Blaze’s reporting on this to be all that credible.

Prehistoric search engine reminds me of the card catalog at a local historical library I’ve enjoyed, pre-scamdemic; the Burton Historical Collection at the Detroit Public Library. In the years before I found my mom’s birth family I would read some of their newspapers from the small farming community where her birth parents lived & would get so excited whenever finding blurbs about that birth family. Some time later when we met Mom’s birth mom’s sister & 2 of her daughters we found out that Mom’s birth great-grandmother was the local correspondent so would regularly include details of family visits & happenings–a gold mine for someone looking for such mystery roots!

Sorry to those who want short snippets, but I have to go “there”.
Once again – it takes about 40 years, give or take a decade, to complete substantial transformation of a segment or even total society. It’s Biblical, or, social science if you do not believe the Bible. You do not get there with an administrator. That’s RDS. You get there with a leader – that’s PDT. Administrators come later after the leader gets the transformation well underway or even done.
First, you need the crud to die off or become ineffective due to health and other issues such as going to GITMO or firing squads.
Second, the next generation needs to undergo life changing challenges. Check.
Third, the young generation needs to experience the bad stuff created by the generation dying off. They chart a different path. That path can be for better or worse. That’s up to us that still have control of our senses to provide even if we never live long enough to enter the promised land (like Moses).
I gave two states as examples in my BIMD – TN and AR that have done that. There are others with the more obvious being FL. The governors are simply the administrators; implementers and spokespeople for the legislators. Control it from the precincts into the legislature and you regain control of America over the course of 40 years or so since we are still a Republic with a Constitution, despite the current scum of the day ignoring it.

We had a Tax Day rally in 2009 on the Capitol steps in Olympia WA. The theme was Taxed Enough Already. As a coordinator of a local tea party, I was asked to speak. Never expected that so I was not prepared in the least.
God gave me the words to speak. A short 6 minute talk on Ezekiel 37. I told the tea partiers that they were the dry bones of Ezekiel 37 and that what was being birthed that day was prophesied in Scripture.

My hope is there will be a revival
I was on the church governing board w/ my husband who was an elder, for years the head elder, & sometimes a deacon–our “denomination” didn’t allow women in certain leadership roles, unless on the mission field (at least in our district)..sigh.
I grew up in church & in my youth went Sunday morning, Sunday night, Wednesday night, & Friday night for Youth Group–willingly. Now I probably go less than once a month & that’s mostly to support my husband when he’s playing for worship.
Other than communion I don’t get much out of the service any more. I’m probably in need of some revival myself, though my faith is strong. The modern church is overall a huge disappointment & the wokeness AND sheepleness displayed during the scamdemic were/are truly horrifying! Salt & Light has turned into Dirt & Darkness 🙁
I like the Catholic worship and some other practices but maybe when leadership changes . Churches need to find their way back to The living Christ and people will fallow
I started out in denominational church, United Methodist, then in independent Spirit-filled churches, & for a season in a smaller denomination, Christian Missionary Alliance, where our local church was about half Spirit-filled, though rather under the radar since the denomination was rather hostile to SF stuff at that point, though had been founded in the Spirit, ironically.
Most of these worship experiences have been more contemporary, though there are some traditional hymns mixed in periodically. I miss scripture-based praise & worship & find much music of recent years to be less than edifying, striking me more as looking at God with a “what have You done for Me lately” exercise. This “worship” that seems very self-focused is exceedingly frustrating to me & I tend to half tune out, unfortunately. I try to focus on God but it seems that around me people are more focused on their own emotions, which makes me almost automatically operate in some type of judgement, which isn’t conducive to a healthy worship experience.
Our neighbors growing up were Spirit-filled Catholics & I once attended an informal praise & worship event in the church basement. We were sitting in folding chairs in a circle & singing songs that we all knew–most enjoyable. I’ve never attended a regular Catholic service, though did experience a Catholic wedding once. My tastes probably run to the less formal than might be typical w/ the RC liturgy & all.
Whatever forms we are drawn to, what is most important is that the Lord be magnified & Scriptural Truth be declared, imo 🙂

My parents’ latest round of Maytag appliances (fridge, dishwasher, stove, washer and drier)…only the stove and fridge are left. The dishwasher died in six years. The washer started to leak. The drier died. That brand is NOT what it used to be.
I had a msytag washing machine last just 1 year. A lemon and i was laughed at when i complained it was just a couple wks past warranty. I replaced w a speed queen. Gas dryer still working at least.
My dishwasher is kenmore, its dead. My kenmore fridge is on its last legs. Both those are almost 15 yrs old.
Try and find reconditioned older appliances.

hope all’s OK now
The City of Santa Clara has always had a very good power crew, so there was never much of a serious concern. That said, having all the lights out, the heat out, and communications cut is a pain.
Heat would be a bit more of an issue in my neck of the woods, though Hubby could play with his generator set up (again) & save the day!
Yeah, I MacGuyver’d a way to post because that seemed most pressing.
We actually have two wood-burning fireplaces in the house, although we’d need to clean up around the main one before using it (there are cabinets outside next to the fireplace, and — through a series of odd circumstances — that’s where we keep plant fertilizer).
Lighting that one up might be a bit more exciting than one would hope 😉
It would be best to clear the fertilizer out long before the outside of the chimney got warm…..
