It’s a little bruised, thank you. Apparently, I have boney knees. And, in other news, hardwood floors are hard.
Not as hard as porcelain tile!
Both take a toll on old knees. That is why I have the kneeling pads. You can also get kneepads that either slip on or tie on. Used to use them when I caved.
The straps on my kneepads raised blood blisters.
Yes – very painful. OUCH! I learned to wear thick jeans and constantly fiddle with the location of the straps, while keeping them flat, to avoid any pinching. Knock on wood, that’s still working.
I found that the more comfortable the actual pads were, the worse I hated the straps.
Get grandchildren to do it.

I used the slip-on but you had to be careful that they were sized correctly.
Harbor Freight has them. Lots of laborers use them.
I keep several pieces of carboard cut from the top of boxes for such a purpose. Use one to kneel on and one to move to. Faster than buckling on or pulling up knee pads, both types I have, but the carboard is easily mobile and work every bit as well.
Now the wife is mediaeval asian and she works the garden like this for prolonged periods. Her knees never touch the ground.
I used to be able to do that, but I wasn’t born to it like she was. Doing it now wrecks my knees.
It’s like they’re pretending to sit on imaginary chairs… 😁
Some seem to refuse the concept. Reminds me of the Amish who hung the chairs on the wall and only took them down for dinner.

I know people who actually wear volleyball knee pads. They seem to work fine.
Well I just used the garden kneeling pad to change my pony’s bandage and it was SOOOooo much more comfortable.
Why am I, the one who faints at the sight of blood, the one who gets to do the bandaging. My friend has taken nursing classes and she could not do a fast neat job.🙄 And hubby is hopeless.
I will say I MUCH prefer a cut on the straight part of the leg. Trying to bandage the heel is a mess!

The IT security equivalent is an “Assume This Device Is Tapped” sticker on every phone, tablet and computer. Absent that, the best we can do is pay attention when those with legal access to all our data abuse those powers and help themselves.
Consider a repeat offender: the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Last week, the FBI was caught using its power to hoover up communications without a warrant, ostensibly to monitor foreign threats, to plunder the privacy of many thousands of US citizens whose revulsion at a brutal killing of a Black man by white cops marked them as activists.
This is nothing new. Search for “FBI abuse of powers” – replacing FBI with other state agencies to taste – and you’ll be scrolling for a year. It’s actually quite cheering that democracies still have safeguards to bring this stuff to light, and yet it keeps happening. If you live in a part of the world where such protection is diluted or absent, you won’t need telling how bad it can get.
Leaving aside the ethics, legality and politics, it’s important to make a practical evaluation of state agencies as advanced persistent threats in the communications stack. Spies are gonna spy. It’s also important to consider the whole threat matrix, and to identify the most effective way to minimize risk as an ordinary user. What can you do to protect against undue surveillance while keeping the utility of your devices?

One important consideration is to know who your “friends” are. When cellphone providers, ISP’s, and credit card companies freely hand over information to rogue government entities without a warrant….they may be taking your money and actively working against you.
If I’m saying something I think the feds might be interested in within sight of my phone, I talk to them:

Well, they still have rafts and an island. A lot of the stuff that used to be there was removed at the insistence of insurance companies.

Insurance companies ruined roller coasters, too. They insisted on trim brakes at various points, specifically at the top of acceleration drops, which, of course, defeats the purpose.

While I have plenty of beef with the current Corporation, Management, and Board of Directors, I’m afraid I’m sort of stuck regarding the park. My grandfather worked on the original audio wiring for the Golden Horseshoe Revue, and my family grew up around the place.
There is a certain mind-bending architecture to the place — a totally created reality — which was inspired by Walt Disney himself and brought to life by his Imagineers. A classic story has a guest saying, in reference to The Pirates of the Caribbean, “it’s a pity that Walt never got to see it.” (He died midway through its construction.) The reply was, “of course, Walt got to see it! — how the heck do you think it got here?”
It is now wildly expensive, and too much woke, and some of the best parts are aging. But it is something to be seen, enjoyed, and studied. It shows what you can do with a bunch of orange groves if you set your mind to it.

Went to the one in Florida back in the day. Took some of my hillbilly friends who had never even seen the ocean.
No kids but It was really fun to watch their eyes bug out at the wonders.
Adventureland and new orleans square were always my fave. Theyve developed all the big back lot now too…no horse stables anymore…picnic grounds…etc. i may not recognize it.

There are things you can do at Disneyland that go beyond the normal rides.
There are currently five locomotives on the Disneyland Railroad —
The latter three were originally built as commercial narrow-gauge locomotives by the Baldwin Locomotive Works. The first two, by contrast, were never “real” locomotives. They are actually scaled-UP narrow-gauge versions of scaled-DOWN 7-1/4″-gauge hobby locomotives — the C. K. Holliday in particular was a larger version of Disney’s personal Lilly Belle. This, BTW, makes ’em a particular pain-in-the-neck to maintain.
The 7-1/4″-gauge versions of the Holliday and Ripley didn’t have sufficient room for a human being to fit within the cab, so were actually operated while sitting on the tender. The less-miniaturized model engines in use today continue to have seats on the tender, even though a fireman and engineer ride within the cab.
If, when the park opens, you don’t run down to the hub for the rope drop, you can go to the Main Street Station and ask the Station Master which trains are running that day. If the Holliday or Ripley (or both) are running, you can ask the Station Master to see if you could ride the tender around the Park.
There is a lot going on in this interaction, and it will be helpful if you get it right. First, the apron for walking along the train is only long enough to reach the locomotive at Main Street — you cannot get on or off at any other stop. Second, the Station Master has no control over trains — he is responsible for the station and people there. Third, while Firemen and Engineers have active and fun roles to play in running a train, it is the Conductor who is responsible for the business of the train — and ultimately it is his decision. That said, he’d be a fool if he didn’t consult his Fireman and Engineer to ensure they are in the mood. So you’re asking the Station Master to ask the Conductor on your behalf to check with the Fireman and Engineer to see if they are in the mood to have you along. If you get on, be sure to thank everyone appropriately — mind you, if they were hostile to the concept, they’d likely be working somewhere else.
If your train isn’t the next one, you can also polish your credentials as a train buff by asking the Station Master if you can run out on the apron and get glamor shots of the lantern or builder’s plaque for the other locomotives while they’re in the station. You may have to wait for your selected train to come all the way around, which is only about 20 minutes.
This can be a very costly experience in other places, but at Disneyland you have to show up and ask.

Guessing, Disneyland starts at $100 and up per person. Toss in food. Maybe souvenir(s). In my world, too damn expensive.
Besides, I always like reading Disney is losing money, laying off, or whatever their well earned woes are.
All this is true, but the actual physical Disneyland can teach you more tricks than a semester at college — and it’s best to soak it in and go “wow!” first, and then be shown how the trick works.
As an example, Main Street seems to go on a long ways….but it’s fairly quick to walk. That comes from forced perspective. The ground floor of Main Street is subtly miniaturized — I believe it’s 7/8 scale — while the upper floor (which you never visit) is at, IIRC, 5/8 scale. As a result, all the buildings look much taller, and the street looks much longer. Similar distortions are used on the castle and the Matterhorn.
Walt insisted that important sight lines in the Park have what he called “weenies” at their ends, to give patrons a reason to move in those directions. As you walk from land to land, you will note that the pavement changes — from wagon ruts and horseshoe prints in Frontierland to cobblestones in Fantasyland.
You may hear the term “audio-animatronics” — this is a way of syncing robotic motions to specific times and audio cues. It is based on the way that analog audio was originally put on the edges of movie film in the form of little squiggles.
And, then, you hit the mind-blowing Omnimover, best used in Adventure Through Inner Space (defunct) and The Haunted Mansion. When you get into a “Doom Buggy”, it appears to be a six-foot tall shell with a seat. As it turns out, it actually extends below the floor almost as far as it does above. As you go through the ride, the Doom Buggy will swivel right and left, tilt backward, and the safety bar will open and close. This is not done with electronics. Instead, there are separate tracks under the floor for each of the vehicle’s motions. A follower wheel from the vehicle extends to the track, and mechanical linkages translate the wheel’s motions to motions of the above-the-floor vehicle.
So many things in Disneyland inspired me to do so many things as an adult. I might not have become SCUBA certified if it weren’t for the submarine ride. We might not have traveled to exotic tropical destinations were we not inspired by the Tiki Room. I wouldn’t be as much of a train nut if it weren’t for the Disneyland Railroad. Even things like knowing what well-painted ironwork was supposed to look like….
But they can take Nick the Fairy Godmother and shove it.

I was one time in Disney because my husband had a meeting in California. My daughter and husband came from Nev. They all wanted to go to Disney I could care less and found it very artificial. Do not like the rides food bad over priced . My brain does not work that way I rather would have been in a Museum, or Botanical Garden, or take antique house tour, or take a hike in the woods. So I am not fun 🙂

We’d go to Knott’s Berry Farm back in they day, and Camp Snoopy. Cheaper, cleaner, more family-oriented, and also fun.
We took our son to Disneyland ONCE, just to check the box, as it were, and even he said it wasn’t worth the money. He did spend a lot of time on Autopia after he got bored with everything else.
First time I went there was in 1955, right after it opened, and maybe a couple of times after that as my aunt and uncle and cousins lived there. But that was in the days of ABCD and E tickets without the flat fee at the front, and you could enter and not go on any rides at all if that was your thing, and it wouldn’t cost anything (few people did that, but older folks did, especially the grands who couldn’t do the rides physically)…
I honestly don’t know how people can justify the enormous outlay required for such a relatively small benefit, and now all the alphabetsoup crap on top of that. Pinoccio and GayPaedo indeed….
I also thought Disney was not a very good ROI. We did other more fun less expensive stuff when we were in Florida with our friends. We were moving Hubby’s aunt down to her sister’s home and wanted another set of drivers. One for the moving truck and one for our pickup for the drive back.
Since we were there we decided to see the sights.
Knotts is in the middle of a total gut and remodel of Fiesta Village. Shut the whole thing down til later this summer. Redoing Log Ride too. Theyre putting a full service sit down mex restaurant in the fiesta village.
Hope they keep the legendary Fried Chicken Restaurant… and the Boysenberry Pies IIRC…

I paid my legal fees with a couple outings for my lawyer and his family. They loved it.
One trip was to a restaurant in New Hampshire. We could go most of the way by dirt roads and then unhitch and tie the horses with hay bags to keep them busy while we had dinner.
That would be so awesome!
Oh it was. The lawyer said there was no way he could BUY the adventures we gave his family.
We also spent a week on Mount Desert Island. It has over 100 miles of carriage roads. (Arcadia National Park)

The USA has some very very good parks and forests. I did a lot of horseback riding in town forests. The ATV guys and I did a lot of the up keep on the trails for the town.

Disney is higher than 100! I just did a quick shopping cart for a Monday in July. 3 tix and parking for a 1 day pass to Disneyland only(no CA Adventure) is $582.00. Add your food and souvenirs and its easily another 200. I read a hot dog is 12.00.

The more DeSedative says that, the more he turns off MAGA voters that he desperately needs.
I don’t think he has fire in his belly for this campaign, which makes me think he was talked into it, which is a political miscalculation so huge, and such a strong indication that he is owned, that I would question his judgment as president. (Not that I would consider him for POTUS anyway.)

Where as with the central count tabulators there were over 12000. With a logic and acuracy test you have to make sure every single combination of elections on the ballot will be properly tabulated. And there are an extraordinary number of combinations with maracopa county. And so they did not do that with the vote center tabulators. putting that aside.
We found thru the system log files, they conducted, it was secret testing that they deny it was secret testing, but it was unannounced on the 14th, 17th, and 18th.
260 of those 446 tabulators FAILED THAT TESTING WHICH GENERALLY INVOLVED INSERTING 8-10 BALLOTS INTO THOSE MACHINES. And they failed with the same types of error codes that arose on election day. And as I said in oral argument, that showed the election was rigged.
This is the last bit and it is DAMNING!

I think POTUS Trump is tossing a bone to the farmers and the Greenies. Given 50% of the population is climate change brainwashed it is not a bad move.
Those of us who dislike ethanol are no doubt a fairly small group.. You have to do a lot of digging under the Schiff to find any useful anti-ethanol info.
Could be he’s throwing that bone far enough away to keep them out of the picture a while. Ethanol is not friendly to gaskets and some tubing and other components, although substitutes are available. I think chiefio has written a few things on it, as he has a civil-war-era Mercedes that can run on ANYTHING (as does my nephew who does design/test engineering at Porsche… one day he drove by and it smelled like french fries… he was running it on recycled (I hope 🙂 ) cooking oil)…
Yep. And methanol is even worse on those rubber parts.
If you build an engine with the intent of burning (say) straight methanol in it, it’s fairly simple to use the substitutes. Putting them in after the engine is in the car is a pain.
If, somehow, we ever did run out of oil but had cheap energy otherwise (e.g., fusion but only in big installations) we could conceivably make methanol out of carbon dioxide and water. It’s grossly inefficient to power our cars that way, but if we have limitless fusion power, why not?

That is what my husband says. Personally I do not know because I do not understand the whole ethanol thing. I find turning food into ethanol instead letting corn as food or chicken feed or what ever when we have plenty of oil makes no sense to me. Maybe when we are hungry they will stop doing this.

The TLDR version
A lawyer asked ChatGPT for examples of cases that supported an argument they were trying to make.
ChatGPT, as it often does, hallucinated wildly—it invented several supporting cases out of thin air.
When the lawyer was asked to provide copies of the cases in question, they turned to ChatGPT for help again—and it invented full details of those cases, which they duly screenshotted and copied into their legal filings.
At some point, they asked ChatGPT to confirm that the cases were real… and ChatGPT said that they were. They included screenshots of this in another filing.
The judge is furious. Many of the parties involved are about to have a very bad time.
