I expect the movie to be hard to watch while also gratifying to see the work that is being done and the dedication of those who are doing it. I believe the problem is monumental, and so must be the efforts to fight it.
The reactions to the SCOTUS ruling on affirmative action are telling. They all imply, or even state outright, that people of color need help to succeed and that they can’t compete on a level playing field. This clearly illustrates the attitude of the Left that people of color are pawns they can manipulate by “helping” them. Hey, maybe, if they need help to succeed, it’s because the Dems have kept them on the plantation for over a century.
The Obamas said something about policies that “reflect our values of equity and fairness.” What could be more fair than having everyone compete by the same rules?

We cannot do that without participating and securing the vote by working in the elections apparatus in the states, counties and communities where we live.

Republicans, aware of how the system is supposed to work, still follow that gameplan. Eseentially give the POTUS what he wants unless they find a really big gaping lack of qualification or major character blot on the nominee.

There are some very hard truths about the differences between races/ethnicities that are not being honestly addressed in our school systems. Until they are, we will continue to have problems.
Erica Marsh is unfortunately not incorrect. There ARE disparities in intelligence among races. But addressing this issue at the college level is simply ridiculous. That is too late.
Children should be separated into ability/aptitude groups beginning in kindergarten, and taught at the speed/level that they are individually capable of. I believe almost ALL students are able to eventually learn a baseline amount of reading, writing, and math. Some will, of course, excel beyond the level needed for the average generally successful working person to have a good life. Those should be college-bound, without regard in any way to race or ethnic background, even if the majority of them happen to be Asian or White.
Pretending, as we have for the last 40-50 years that all children should grow up to attend college and have a career in law, medicine, engineering or the like has resulted in the failing school systems we now have, and the terrifying rates of illiteracy among blacks in particular.
That was the practice when I was in grade school.

Yes. And in this case, it has information that I wasn’t able to find anywhere else. That happens frequently with mainstream media outlets that have real reporters who sometimes do actual investigative reporting. Their end product will inevitably slant Left and even contain propaganda, but one can often find facts within.
I can’t rely only on conservative sites because they don’t report on everything. Increasingly, I can’t rely on conservative “influencers” because some are so wedded to their theories that they only write what will support them, even when the theories are falling apart — or when they should be falling apart, if only someone would look at them critically and with common sense.

More random excitement at Casa de Cthulhu….
I went out to drive around and get dinner, and my clutch pedal (which has been going lower and lower of late) essentially wanted to go through the floor before it let me shift gears.
It’s a hydraulic clutch, which is supposed to be self-adjusting, but I learned about that back with my first car — the ill-fated ’79 Mustang. The rear brakes were supposed to be self-adjusting drum brakes, but they didn’t. They were supposed to adjust when you went in reverse and put on the brakes. I didn’t do that enough, so they never adjusted.
So I’m a bit skeptical of this self-adjusting story, and I take a peek in to see how I’m doing on clutch fluid. From what I could see on first impression, there wasn’t any.
I checked my stock of brake fluid (clutch fluid is the same thing) and found I had plenty. Problem is, as soon as you break the seal on it, it starts absorbing moisture from the atmosphere — and you really shouldn’t use it if it’s been open for a year. My bottle ran out of time in February, 2022. So I borrowed the Fiancee’s jalopy for a trip to the auto-parts store.
It comes in little tiny bottles for $8 and humongous large bottles for $12, so I got the big one. It took about two shotglasses’ worth to top off the clutch cylinder, which explained why I had so much in the old bottle.
After I pumped the clutch a bunch of times, it seemed to shift into gear pretty well, so we’ll see how durable this fix will be.
Just for the record, I am really really really really envious of kalbo’s lift.
I need to replace my exhaust manifold, ’cause it’s got a crack.
If I do it in California, the part will cost me $450 because it has to be Honda. Everywhere else, the part is $175 and performs better.
It has two bolts to attach to the exhaust thingie from underneath — need a lift. It has about five bolts to attach to the side of the head that I can easily get to. New high-heat gaskets top and bottom. End of story.
Probably would cost me $500 of labor to have it done. Is trivial with a lift.
Smells like an easy diversion when ya go to Palm Springs.
Perhaps a sortie across Sierras to NV. Via Jackson, CA/NV 88 drops ya into Gardnerville/Minden area. IIRC, couple auto parts stores there.
There is always 80 or 50. Then ya get more wacko CA drivers to evade. More auto parts stores Carson and Reno.
Jack stands or a couple ramps, and you have easier access to a couple bolts.
This stuff is right up your alley.

I’m not particularly petite, so I wouldn’t want to do jack stands or ramps. I could see doing it with a floor slot, but I don’t have one of those either.
Floor slot — I first saw one of these locally.
So, the garage floor has a five-foot deep and three feet wide hole down the middle, lined with concrete-filled cinderblocks, I’m sure with rebar.
This slot flares out to 3’6″ at 5-1/2″ from the floor. It is then bridged by 4×6’s. 3’6″ long.
The car is driven into the garage over the slot while all lumber is in place. Once the car is parked and brake engaged, the exposed 4×6’s are pulled out and a regular folding ladder lowered. Then all the 4×6’s under the desired work area are removed from underneath.
Cheap, safe, foolproof. 1930’s/1940’s.
A few years back, bantered a bit about one, in San Jose.
Hood I grew up in. Lived on, Hanchett Ave. Prolly 400′, left on Sequoia. Right on Shasta. Best friend lived on Shasta Ave. They had a floor slot. I / we used it to change oil, in our jalopies, as teenagers.
The drift I got back then, this was likely the house, with a slot, ya walked through. 🙂

The only home I know of with a slot. incredibly useful. no particular reason I should have known of more.

My late father-in-law’s house had one, which probably contributed to my wife’s nephew’s success in automotive design and diagnostics (he works at Porsche here as a design and test engineer).
“The Pit” runs the length of their garage, with steps leading down from the front, and removable boards covering it so that no-one gets an unwelcome suprise (including the car being worked on 😆 )…
As long as you don’t drive into the pit, it’s a lot more convenient and LOT safer than jack stands or ramps…
I’m not sure if they’re a thing here, or not (have to ask him tomorrow). The house was built in the 1930s, IIRC, so that’s about the same timeframe as in the USA…
They also had a real cool (and cool) cellar, where they kept potatos, onions, liquid refreshment 🙂 , and other stuff cool. Interesting bit of history there…

Dad was mentioning the other day about working for his dad at his gas station when he was a young teen. Heck, yard sales or Estate sales ya can get jack stands, ramps floor jack, something to lift your Honda. You already have a jack. Put blocks of some sort under and you are good to go.

Because the master cylinder is higher than the slave cylinder, and there are no loops in the hydraulic line, it should bleed itself if you let it sit for a few days.
Since it works now, it is doubtful there is any air in the system. And you’re supposed to check your fluid levels more than once a decade.
Pretty much my thoughts — if I’d run the master cylinder so low that it was suckin’ air, there might be air in the line. If I topped off the cylinder now, that air would probably bubble out with use. I should check levels in a few days. In the meantime, it’s now more usable than it was.
And I profoundly resent your implication that I don’t check my clutch fluid level more often than every ten years. By the expiration of my old bottle, I know that I last topped-it in February 2021 — a mere 2.5 years ago.
And, BTW, a PSA —
If you’re old enough to remember when gas stations checked your fluids while they filled your tank, they probably checked your brake fluid and clutch fluid…..
…..but if you thought that whole thing was moved over to Jiffy Lube when they took over oil changes, you would be WRONG. Jiffy Lube checks your oil and windshield-washing fluid. Coolant (radiator), brakes, clutch, ABS, transmission, power steering, and battery fluids are YOUR problem.
Just be thankful you don’t have to live with the Model A maintenance schedule, where you were expected to lube the chassis every 500 miles.

PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.

One did find an NIH grant to Gary Whittaker (one of the authors of the cited paper) in 2009, the application for which describes exactly what the paper discusses. So it appears that Cornell University was fooling around with the S1 and S2 spike proteins of SARS-CoV-2 also, back in 2009. Funded by the NIH.

“It signals the realization among the military and Intel of the West that the Ukies cannot gain back anything from the Russians. So, to preserve what is left of Ukraine as a state and as a military that can become a very dangerous-to-Russia terror state and a very severe insurgency within the new Russia territories, they need a freeze.
A NATO force of any kind would be destroyed like the destruction of the Ukie group that squatted under the Antonovsky Bridge and was destroyed by Iskanders today. So, it ain’t going to happen.
