He looked basically the same up to or near being installed as potus. Since then he looks different. Like the ear thing…before the earlobes weren’t attached, nice normal earlobes. Now they’re gone. One could say it’s due to plastic surgery and it probably is but it isn’t very attractive .

Every Halloween, the Fiancee assembles a “trick-or-treat” experience at our house, with lights, set pieces, animated gizmos, and sound effects. When things slacken, we douse the lights and tear it down, with the idea that our house looks “normal”.
We were down about 25% on guests from last year, but those that visited were very appreciative.
I’m reading that trick-or-treaters were down everywhere. Parents are scared.
We got non. Parents are not sending them around they have parties in churches and homes.
I see lotsa signs for Trunk Treating. Small area. Lighted. Parents. Safe.
That is how it is done around here now.
Parents are prudent when it comes to their kids.
I do not blame them. The carefree childhood is over. To many loonies out there.

I talked with someone who lives in a small town, and they had more trick-or-treaters this year than they had had in years. It’s a place where there is almost no crime.

We ran out of treats. Although, I didn’t buy as many as usual since I figured the numbers would be lower.
Things are so slow in this area, most folks, turn out the lights.

The reason his gait looks so weird is because you are watching a man walking in high heels, covered by boots and jeans.
Look at the feet and ankles of the guy with no socks on the left (to Rhonda’s right), watch how he walks normally, heel to toe.
Same with the guy in jeans, behind Rhonda. Watch his feet.
Now look at Rhonda’s feet.
Rhonda can’t walk the way the other guys do, because he is wearing high heels disguised as boots. There’s practically no heel-to-toe in Rhonda’s gait, it’s like he’s placing the entire sole of the shoe down flat with each step.

The Trumps seem hyper-aware of the fact that the cameras are never off when they’re in public. It’s something that all politicians have to realize. You never see PDJT or Melania make a gesture or face that could be caught on camera and made into an instant meme. DeSantis should know by now that his every move is watched and that if something feels off, it looks off, too.

Yep. As I say in my rotating post on the subject, I want it to be one nominee per party. But even aside from that…the issue seems to be Republican voters, faced with several Republicans to pick from, and they don’t pick a second choice. That’s on THEM, not RCV as such.
The article does not mention any sort of jungle primary. In Alaska there’s a preliminary round where the top four vote getters get to go into the RCV round, but to me that preliminary round negates the possible good effects of the system (allowing an end run around RINOs who get their party’s nomination).
I’d like at this point to toss out a variation that would raise all appropriate hell. Do not toss out exhausted ballots. Rather, treat them as votes for “None of the remaining candidates is acceptable.”
If, doing that, no candidate gets a majority of the votes (which would happen if no candidate got votes–in whatever place in the ranking–from a majority of voters, meaning NO candidate was acceptable to a majority of the voters), the election is reheld with an entirely new list of candidates. Presumably each party would have a backup candidate selected already.

Generally I am OK but I found my hands are starting to hurt off & on this year. I have not been as strict about taking my supplement and that is probably part of the problem.
My mom’s parents had a sauna on their property. My dad’s dad was visiting once and took a sauna. It made a Huge Difference on his arthritic hands. He got almost full mobility for several days after that one sauna.

I’m not sure if it’s good practice but I recognize most sites that require a password have as the most sensitive item of personal information belonging to me to be my email address and they don’t share that. With that said, I’ve opted to use the same password for all these sites. This cuts down on what I have to remember. The sites where I use seperate passwords are either financial institutions, places I make purchases, or gov sites who are so dang anal about security that I each time I revisit those sites I’m required to change my password anyway. The last group being a bunch of freaking sadistic security nazis.
I have a 3-ring binder of passwords and can’t remember any of them.
When I had my security incident in 2015, I had been using three passwords across most websites — low, medium, and high security. Naturally, high was used for online banking.
Then I had a keylogger dropped on me. He captured one password — the high security one. Next thing I know, he was paging through my finances….
I should note that the passwords are handwritten in ink on paper forms and have never been listed in any electronic format.
I have a book where I keep track of passwords. Everyone wants a password now and it is a pain.
FYI: QubesOS comes preconfigured with a virtual machine that has no networking, and Keepass XC preinstalled. As installed, it’s named Vault.
(Vault is the only pre-configured qube I kept…well sort of. I removed a bunch of software it doesn’t need (e.g., firefox) and renamed it to match my setup. But it’s recognizably the same thing.)
The idea is that you keep your passwords there. There is a method for cutting and pasting between qubes (a clipboard that gets wiped upon pasting).
This is both more or less secure than your three ring binder. It’s more secure against burglars, but less secure against the internet jungle.
The binder is probably pretty secure against post-literate burglars — I doubt they register any possible value in a 3-ring binder.

Proof that it was a rebellion and not a true secession is that all those states are currently in the USA, fully represented in Congress and fully participating in the affairs of the nation.

I believe he is heading for the difference between a republic formed of independent (nation) states freely contracted in a collectively approved agreement(s) versus a homogenous democracy where the states exist due to the nation forming and ruling the people through centralized governing. States become administrators in that latter model. Federal government versus national government.
We are clearly the former. The Dems always say “democracy” as in the Democrat in their party name. They weaponize its use in their language and always side with the latter – the top down centralized, homogenous approach. It is the source of their power. The Republicans are generally “republic” Constitution supporters (non RINOs) who use the term of democracy to represent its broader sense of representation of the people’s interests. Just like the Constitution and D of I state.
The problem is so many on both sides are compromised. Follow the money.
The existence of the COS language in the Constitution is just one of many proofs that the former was the intent of the founders and the Constitution. The electoral college is another along with the states being assigned control of elections for federal offices. The limitations placed on the established government of the United States of America also prove its existence is to serve the nation states within the bounds of the contract (agreement). In effect, a separate federal entity exists to support the states with the federal government’s legislature acting like a Board of Directors of a corporation created by the stockholders (citizens) with having rights to vote on corporate (federal entity) matters authorized by the agreement (Constitution). The POTUS is the Commander in Chief of the military (one of the federal entity’s responsibilities) and chief administrator of the federal government’s authorized responsibilities along with the Supreme Court as the final referee/arbiter of disputes. Even the SC has no authority to rule on authorized duties of the states if it is not included in the federal powers of the Constitution – which is why the abortion ruling occurred as it did.
Which is why states have their own final arbiters of disputes in their nation states.
Thus any contracts or agreements made with other nations by the federal government outside the bounds of the assigned authorities of the Constitution are null and void to the nation states in the agreement. Without consent of the states within a legally binding agreement that is constitutionally supported, the feds cannot do anything binding unless separately legally contracted . The federal entity is on its own legally in those situations. Even allowing Constitutionally unauthorized use of tax funds is criminal. So think that one through when it comes to sending funds to Ukraine and other pet projects. However, they will try anything unless/until challenged legally.
PDT has always stressed to do things legally for many good reasons. He knows and fully supports the nation states/republic approach. Truly, it is the central issue of MAGA. It kept us out of wars and safe. It fired the engines of industry and employment. It killed inflation and make the American dream a reality. Which the commies, Dems and RINOs hated.
The only way they can force states to comply with illegal use of authority is through illegal use of force. What are we seeing with J6 and so many other events through the recent past? I have no problem calling us a nation. In a sense we are as we are united in purpose and legalized operation through an agreement. However, the colonies and then states first authorized the formation of the union after they had declared independence, The union did not form states and grant them rights to exist. I don’t read where they gave up their independence in doing so – I read they created a union with common purposes and views, then ceded authority over limited, specified responsibilities of the newly created federal government. Which occurred a decade after the D of I.
Modern day – how do states have the authority to refuse federal funding and conduct similar functions on their own dime using their own people and systems? There is not one thing the federal government can do about it when they do as long as they comply with Constitutionally supported law. If the “nation” had authority that could not happen. But if a nation state has that authority it does.

I think it boils down to this is how America was founded, with this form of government, and there is nothing mysterious about that. As you say, “The union did not form states and grant them rights to exist.” This has been the case, and has been known, from the beginning. America is a union of states.

None of this is not easy. Awhile back when I got on my COS tangent, Gail asked something along the line of if I thought we needed a new Constitution or just modifications to the existing. I love what our founders did – a republic – a hybrid as she calls it. But they could not foresee everything that would happen centuries later. Amendments to it are scary now, they could undermine the entire document. The world is on fire and people are insane.
Yet, they said the same stuff back then. Jefferson went against his own narrow Constitution interpretation beliefs in arranging the Louisiana Purchase. Nobody argues against that deal now. But was it the right way to get it done, to stretch the boundaries of the foundational document of a fledging nation? I really do not think so. That’s just me. I think they should have done it legally and transparently. Modify the process with the people’s approval to authorize the purchase. There is always something. that pushes the boundaries and it set a precedent for the next thing to stretch the boundaries farther.
I have no doubt that the FedGov wasn’t given the power to buy more territory in the Constitution.
But I don’t think that was a deliberate omission. I think the Framers never even thought of the possibility. They probably would have included it if they thought of it (unless they thought they’d just be laughed at for suggesting it).
So technically the Louisiana purchase violated the letter of the Constitution, but I don’t think it violated the spirit of the Constitution.
Reading the Articles of Confederation, it becomes pretty clear that the Founders intended the United States to function as one nation, as regards all interaction with other nations.
And it was a Civil War. One group of states withdrew from the Confederation. When they did, they lost the designation of state, and became a rebellion against the original government.
When we separated ourselves from Britain, I believe we really did. I know we didn’t remain even partially British citizens. There were people who became ineligible and lost inheritances and fortunes in Britain because they had become American with the end of the Revolutionary War. I have found many cases of this in my research. People who attempted to inherit, but were denied by the British courts. Even people who were born in Britain but remained in America.
Actually I think the USA is a hybrid. States, Except for Texas, can not withdraw from the Union. Therefore states are not FULLY sovereign. HOWEVER the Constitution makes it VERY CLEAR the states are ‘sovereign’ within their territories except for very explicit functions delegated to the federal government.
That said, if you look at history, it is pretty darn obvious the British Empire has been scheming to get back control of their colonies. (It is interesting that the Brit cavers I know, refer to the USA as ‘The Colonies’ and NOT as the USA or America.)
As I said many times before, the Tzar of Russia thwarted England’s grab for the USA during and after the Civil War. For that interference in the British Empire’s plans, fifty years later, his ENTIRE LINE was exterminated. During the same time frame,the early 1900s, the financial grab was completed AND the LEGAL GRAB hit high speed. It is ironic that American Tax Payers PAID for the extermination of the Romanovs and I am sure it was planned that way.
Prior to 1913, the Federal Government was kept on a short leash via MONEY. With the Federal Income Tax, that leash was removed. Somewhere I saw that, 1/2 of a state’s budget is PAID FOR BY THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT giving the Feral government ENORMOUS leverage over the states. [Now I find data showing 15-35%] This is the exact OPPOSITE of what the Founding Fathers intended. Until 1913, federal receipts consisted mainly of customs taxes, subsidiarily of the sale of public lands during the 19th century, and of (indirect) excise taxes

I don’t enjoy making fun of people who are impaired. That said, if you are impaired, get off the stage. Resign from office and let someone capable serve. And if you are the wife or a family member of the impaired person, help them step down and take care of them. Since Jill is not doing that and allowed him to run in the first place, I think JB’s being “in office” must be a condition that the Bidens have to meet. I think they are being controlled by outside forces in order to have him in the WH. I think our government is being controlled by foreign influences and the enemies within who are blackmailed and compromised.

Well the leadeship will do everything they can to ensure another pet RINO gets the nod.
But people CAN participate in the process and at least fight that. The problem is that even if the district assembly only picks one candidate some asshole can still petition on to the primary ballot and get the nod.
I saw it happen in a county commissioner race a couple of decades ago. The incumbent was massively unpopular with the activists, so he didn’t even try to get delegates. (If he had, and failed to get enough, he’d have been forbidden to petition onto the primary ballot). So he petitioned onto the primary ballot, and because he was the incumbent, carried the day in the primary.
It’s definitely going to be a challenge. On the plus side my district is the reddest one in Colorado, even more so than Lamborn’s.
