On this day and every day –

God is in Control
. . . and His Grace is Sufficient, so . . .
Keep Looking Up

Hopefully, every Sunday, we can find something here that will build us up a little . . . give us a smile . . . and add some joy or peace, very much needed in all our lives.

“This day is holy to the Lord your God;
do not mourn nor weep.” . . .
“Go your way, eat the fat, drink the sweet,
and send portions to those for whom nothing is prepared;
for this day is holy to our Lord.
Do not sorrow,
for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”

Christian Tradition

The word tradition can have two meanings, one secular and one religious. The secular understanding is that tradition is a long-established ritual, custom, or belief that is passed down from one generation to the next. For example, families have certain traditions in the way they celebrate holidays, birthdays, or vacations. Family traditions can be a healthy and positive way to maintain family cohesiveness.

Social traditions can help create a sense of belonging within a community. A school may have a tradition that each year the incoming freshmen are escorted to the first football game by the seniors. Following those traditions builds unity and helps maintain social norms.

In the religious arena, however, tradition can blur the line between God’s truth and man’s invention, thereby confusing many. Christians should view religious tradition with caution.

Religious tradition was in full force during Jesus’ earthly ministry. He often scolded the religious leaders, saying, “You nullify the word of God by your tradition that you have handed down” (Mark 7:13). The scribes and the Pharisees had added so many of their own ideas to God’s Law that the common people were confused and felt helpless to obey it all. In Mark 7:6–8, Jesus quoted from Isaiah to reprimand the religious leaders, saying, “Well did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written, ‘This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me; in vain do they worship me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’” Notice that the “commandments of men” were being taught as if they were divinely inspired “doctrines.” And that was the problem.

One of the many traditions kept by the Pharisees of Jesus’ day involved a ritualistic hand-washing before meals. The observance of this tradition had nothing to do with cleanliness; the Pharisees’ concern was ceremonial purity. Once, when a Pharisee invited Jesus to eat with him, Jesus bypassed the tradition: “His host was amazed to see that he sat down to eat without first performing the hand-washing ceremony required by Jewish custom” (Luke 11:38, NLT). Jesus had broken no law—nothing in the Mosaic commandments required such hand-washing—but the Pharisee expected conformity to the custom nonetheless. Jesus’ outright disregard of that manmade tradition sets up a clear distinction between what is binding (God’s commands) and what is not binding (human tradition).

Religious traditions that supersede or displace God’s law have been around since the earliest days. They are still in full force within every religion as well as most Christian denominations. The liturgical branches of Christianity have the most obvious traditions, but more relaxed worship venues can have them as well. Most of us have our favorite style of music, method of preaching, organizational structure, and serving routines that we accept without question. When faced with change, we might even feel a sense of moral outrage, as though changing the service format or adding a bass guitar were a direct violation of God’s commands. What we’re really doing, perhaps without even realizing it, is guarding our own pet traditions, just as the Pharisees did. We can even become offended at Jesus, as the Pharisees did, when He disrupts our traditional view of what we think Christianity should look like (see John 9:16).

Scripture has layers of meaning. The more we delve into God’s Word, the more we learn about God, and it often upsets our own ideas. Just when we think we have things figured out and we are certain that we are theologically, morally, and socially right about it all, we uncover another layer that shatters those confidences. When we cling to tradition—whether denominational, theological, or structural—as if it were God’s Word, we keep the door closed on God’s revelation of truth to us. He wants to keep maturing us with the knowlege of Who He is as we continue to pursue Him. But religious tradition is often in the way. “That’s been our tradition for hundreds of years” is the battle cry of the traditionalists. Breaking tradition can be uncomfortable for many, just as it was for the Pharisees (Matthew 5:33–34; Luke 6:26–27). But when we can clearly see the dividing line between our own traditions and God’s truth, we stay humble and pliable as God continues to transform us into the image of His Son (Romans 8:29).
https://www.gotquestions.org/Christian-tradition.html

Whenever Jesus publicly healed someone on the Sabbath, the Pharisees accused Him of breaking the Sabbath law (Matthew 12:10; Mark 3:2, John 5:14; 9:14–16).

God instituted the Sabbath for the Israelites when He gave Moses the Ten Commandments (Exodus 20:8–11). On the seventh day of the week, the Israelites were to rest, remembering that God created the universe in six days and then “rested” on the seventh day (Genesis 2:1–3). The Sabbath was given for the benefit of the people (Mark 2:27) and as a sign of the Mosaic Covenant (Exodus 31:13).

By Jesus’ time, the religious leaders had added burdensome rules that became traditions for keeping the Sabbath and had elevated their own traditions to the level of God’s instructions. It was so bad that, when Jesus’ disciples picked and ate some heads of grain as they walked through a field, the Pharisees accused them of breaking the Sabbath because they were supposedly “harvesting” and “threshing” (Luke 6:1–2).

The Pharisees had so conflated their own standard of holiness with God’s that they accused Jesus of breaking the Sabbath law. Jesus acted against the Pharisaical interpretation of the law and their traditions,

Just as the Sabbath was originally instituted to give people rest from their work and to turn people to God, so Jesus came to provide us rest from attempting to achieve salvation by our own labors. His sacrifice on the cross made a way for the law to be fulfilled and for righteousness and rest to come to all who trust in His finished work.

The church that I grew up in was a very conservative Baptist church (but didn’t feel rule-bound or oppressive). After I left for college, they actually split over the tradition of the senior deacons having their choice of when to serve or whether the junior deacons would serve with them in a rotation. Many in the congregation held to tradition so closely that they were willing to split the congregation over the continuance of that tradition.

What the opposing groups and the deacons themselves missed is covered in Philippians 2:3-8:

Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others. In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death—even death on a cross!

I would suspect that Christians in organizational authority across the entire Christian spectrum, as well as us, would benefit by a thorough understanding and application of those principles.

The issue concerning any church and its practices should be “Is this biblical?” God is more interested in whether a church is doing His will and obeying His Word than whether it can trace its traditions back through history. Jesus was very concerned about abandoning the Word of God to follow the traditions of men (Mark 7:7). Traditions are not inherently invalid…there are some good and valuable traditions. Again, the issue must be whether a doctrine, practice, or tradition is Biblical. How then do the doctrines, practices, or traditions of any church compare with the teachings of the Word of God?

If a teaching is Biblical (taken in context), it should be embraced. If it is not, if it supercedes or displaces, or adds to or diminishes God’s Word, it should be rejected. Scripture must be the only standard of Christian faith and practice. The Word of God is always true and reliable. The same can never be said of church tradition.

Our guideline is to be: “What does Scripture say?” (Romans 4:3; Galatians 4:30; Acts 17:11). 2 Timothy 3:16-17 declares, “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

The link to this video was posted by Kalbo yesterday. It is excellent and demonstrates how the world became overrun with climate hysteria. IMO, it is COVIDiocy on steroids. It is an enemy that affects so many aspects of our lives, all based on falsehoods.

Normally I get lost in movies such as this. Presently thirty minutes in.

Superbly done. Must watch. If nothing else, Play in back ground, flip back and forth.

Clearly debunks climate hysteria.

Already knew climate BS, Is truly BS. More light bulbs came on, with TTs comment.

  :wpds_arrow: TTs comment, “…overrun with climate hysteria. IMO, it is COVIDiocy on steroids.”

  :wpds_arrow: I suggest. Covidiocy IS akin to climate hysteria on steroids.

National and Global populations manipulated rapidly, on queue.Within days if not hours, populations manipulated to alter their lives.
My comments are not to detract from the superb job, Climate The Movie, debunks climate hysteria bs. 100% lies, supported by governments.

It’s all about how powerful an individual can be.

One man can mow a small lawn with his own muscles and a push mower.

He can mow a medium lawn with an electric mower.

He can mow a large lawn with a riding mower.

He can mow acreage and bale hay with a tractor.

By choking off his access to energy, TPTB can make us all serfs.

Climate change is limiting access to engines.

Great insight!

And that is why Dr PetrBeckmann wrote the Access to Energy newsletter. Dr Robinson has continued the newsletter.

THANXS,

I did it too. 🙃

kalbokalbs

Oops. I should have looked. Perhaps someone or many will watch.

I just wanted to make sure it was accessible for later viewing.

So much very important info comes up and then gets buried.

I used to be able to find stuff (3 yrs ago) by using Google advanced search and the url of the website. Now the advanced search will not bring up stuff I found a few short years ago.

Yes – Google turned to crap, once they became woke.

Gail Combs

AMEN!!

I hardly use Brave and now mostly rely on Yandex for searches, ESPECIALLY for anything the CIA would not want me to know about.

litenmaus

I used to just save url’s to articles in my database. After a few years I learned a very hard lesson. Almost 30% of the websites were no longer accessible and the information that I thought I had saved was lost to me…..
That was my fault.

When the Ukraine Special Military Operation was initiated, I had already built up a network of about 150 sources for Ukraine information due to the Maidan “color-revolution coup. 125 of those sources disappeared from Google & Duck Duck Go searches and are no longer available. That’s Big Tech & Government censorship.

I very much appreciate you & others for making sure we have access through multiple sources. Thank you…:0)

Gail Combs

It is SO frustrating not to have the information you KNOW exists available.

I think that is why I can sympathize with the people who want hymnals they can hold in their hands and they KNOW can not be changed.

I did not alter my life any more than absolutely necessary.

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

OK, here’s some good news.

Twitter and Rumble DO work when I fire up a Brave qube.

So I don’t know why Firefox in particular is broken, but apparently it’s not to do with the sound changes QubesOS did; unless there’s something distinctive about Firefox in combination with QubesOS.

Of course I am probably about to be asked why I am using Firefox. And that’s because I know how to lock it down, tight. Brave supposedly has a lot of this built in, but I’d be surprised if it is as tight as my particular installation of firefox.

(Add: I just tried an absolutely bone-stock, freshly installed, never-before-used unaltered version of Firefox [I can keep doing that all day, because disposable Qubes]. Rumble doesn’t work. So it can’t be my customizations of Firefox that are causing the problem.)

At about 23:30 they show one way how we know (important) how much CO2 there was in the atmosphere in the past, then a graph over the past 600 million years showing what amounts to a decline though there’s a prior low point around 300 Ma. (Ma is the geologist and paleontologist’s abbreviation for Million years ago.)

As it happens the sun gets brighter by about ten percent every billion years (a consequence of a larger volume in the center doing hydrogen fusion) and so, we would need less greenhouse gas in the atmosphere to maintain the same temperature. Which is what the graph is showing. 300 Ma was probably colder than it is today simply because the sun was 3% dimmer back then; though there are plenty of other factors at play (such as different shapes of continents causing different ocean currents).

I once had a painting contractor do a TERRIBLE job on painting some shelves in my old house. Paint drips everywhere. I threw a fit, he was a jerk. They came back and half-ass sanded and repainted. The drips were visible like shadows. I refused to pay him.

I live in a small town, so when anybody heard about it, I just invited them to come over and take a look. I’d pull books off a shelf and show them. Last I heard, those guys aren’t painting anymore.

Thank you, Carl, for today’s lesson. This was an encouragement too:

Scripture has layers of meaning. The more we delve into God’s Word, the more we learn about God, and it often upsets our own ideas. Just when we think we have things figured out and we are certain that we are theologically, morally, and socially right about it all, we uncover another layer that shatters those confidences. He wants to keep maturing us with the knowlege of Who He is as we continue to pursue Him. “

Back in college I was debating some guys on my “brother wing” (guy’s dorm all all paired with our girl’s hall) on this topic. One in particular was adamant that there was only ever One meaning to scripture & I argued for something closer to what is quoted above. Ironically he was a theology major & I was pre-med.

Now we see through a glass darkly & His ways are higher than our ways. These perspectives can help us maintain a humble balance whenever we get a glimpse of eternity. The Holy Spirit will quicken to each one of us what He is speaking to our hearts, speaking to us individually in our own love language as He sings over us with love 🙂

Tonawanda

VC: that was the EXACT passage I found so striking in an altogether wonderful post.

Great Minds 😉 😉

Has an update to that Pyramid thing discussed late last night. That began here https://www.theqtree.com/2024/05/18/2024%c2%b705%c2%b718-joe-biden-didnt-win-daily-thread/#comment-1279200

Two parts. One important.

First part it seems Egypt did have a flood myth originating from the 3rd Millennium BC that resulted in destruction of Egypt’s people, so the Pyramids were there. In light of that I’d bounce back to the Rift/Earthquake theory of earthen damn broken open in the region of Lake Victoria as the likely real word cause, since the myth says mankind was pretty much wiped out and myths are often based on real world events for which the details are lost. But that’s neither here nor there in light of what I’ll relate in the second part, so Napoleon firing canons at the pyramids will work just fine.

Short version of the flood myth and it’s in alignment with the long version but very condensed. Short enough to post and spare you the link.

Like the Mesopotamian and Genesis flood stories, the Egyptian flood myth begins with the anger of the high god against the ungrateful evil of the human race. A late third millennium B.C.E. myth tells how humanity had gone so far as to plot against Ra himself and that Ra called the gods into council to decide what to do with these “children” of his Eye. Humans had been born of the tears of his Eye, represented by a goddess. In this case the Eye is Sekhmet, the lioness goddess—perhaps as the fiery sun—who, bent on the destruction of her miscreant children, descends upon humans and their world and unleashes all of her violent fury on them. The destruction is so terrible that Ra relents and decides he must put a stop to the terror wrought by his Eye. He creates beer from barley and red ochre and floods all of the fields of Egypt with it. Sekhmet is herself attracted by the beer and drinks so much of it that she becomes intoxicated and forgets about her destructive mission. A few humans are thus saved and are able to begin a new life.

Long version. Is very involved. Entertaining reading and contains information for the second part which is not so detectable in the above, though it’s there.
https://www.worldhistory.org/Book_of_the_Heavenly_Cow/

Second Part.
We are all familiar with the eye thing all the self important people in the world do as their special occult secret. It is known as the Eye of Oris/Horus

comment image

The Eye of Horus is also known as left wedjat eye or udjat eye, specular to the Eye of Ra (right wedjat eye), is a concept and symbol in ancient Egyptian religion that represents well-being, healing, and protection. Along with other occult features.

What no one ever seems to talk about or understand is the right wedjat eye the Eye of Ra and it’s meaning.

The Eye of Ra or Eye of Re, usually depicted as sun disk or right wedjat-eye (paired with the Eye of Horus, left wedjat-eye), is an entity in ancient Egyptian mythology that functions as an extension of the sun god Ra’s power, equated with the disk of the sun, but it often behaves as an independent goddess, a feminine counterpart to Ra and a violent force that subdues his enemies. This goddess, also known with the theonym Wedjat, can be equated with several particular deities, including Hathor, Sekhmet, Bastet, Raet-Tawy, and Mut. The eye goddess acts as mother, sibling, consort, and daughter of the sun god. She is his partner in the creative cycle in which he begets the renewed form of himself that is born at dawn. The eye’s violent aspect defends Ra against the agents of disorder that threaten his rule. This dangerous aspect of the eye goddess is often represented by a lioness or by the uraeus, or cobra, a symbol of protection and royal authority. The disastrous fury and rampages of the eye goddess and the efforts of the gods to appease her are a prominent motif in Egyptian mythology.

This is the eye that is used in the Egyptian Flood Myth to subdue and destroy mankind. (to help you keep the left and right wedjat sorted just remember the position of honor is always on the right. You salute with the right. Who knows, maybe it’s a hand me down from Egypt.)

Now the Book of the Heavenly Cow has a happy conclusion as along as everyone is getting along and respecting the power, death if your not, but were not talking about the Book of the Heavenly Cow, were talking about what they mean when they do that eye thing to us.

There is an article on this site entitled Hidden in Plain Sight which is OT but related in an interesting way:

https://theethicalskeptic.substack.com/

para59r

Thank you for that. Reminds me we have had that posted here when it first came out so my pervious comment from yesterday saying ethical skeptic did not give attribution does not stand if after all he’s written on it before and it’s his theory. Slaps self for not finding that.

His theory still has the problem of the flood occurring before the pyramids were built unless the pyramids have been around since at least the Younger Drayas… ball park 9000 BC.

Anyway posted him both my Rift Valley Theory and the Eye of Ra theory.

Two more theories

Adding two quick theories. Likes this one and others presented below, but these will be new.

1. Temp water rise. The Nile gets it’s water from Lake Victoria so lets look South. Lake Victoria and it’s neighboring lakes all are with in the earthquake zone commonly known as the Rift Valley where Africa is still slowly being formed into two continents. A large earth quake may well have destroyed a natural barrier/dam and caused a massive deluge. Abnormal well above the mean flooding has occurred along the Nile in the past that submerged towns and cities. A really massive one is not out of the range of possibility.

2. A full season of Flood. There Exists an Egyptian Flood Myth similar to the Sumerian Flood Myth where God (Enil) grew upset with his people and sent a flood to destroy them. https://www.worldhistory.org/Book_of_the_Heavenly_Cow/
Myths are normally proven to be correct when interrupted correctly.
Topographical Maps show highland on either side of the Nile river at the base of the fan. I can’t get a read on how high, but the maps tend to indicate high enough to flood the Nile all the way back to at least the first and maybe second cataract. The space between the highland where the Nile flows is 21 miles wide between the high elevation depicted on maps. It is not out of the question that this area was damned up to destroy the population down river.  If they could build the pyramids, then a damn that size would likely be no problem. Ancient history is replete enough with rivers being damned up or their courses being changed by man made works and the time it took to do such was often weeks, not months and such a project could of been undertaken during non flood season. Additionally by the time of the Pyramids were built Egyptians were already building earthen works at this time to control the flooding so as to irrigate their fields and allow for cities and towns not to get caught in the annual flooding.

Side note. The Eye of Oris. That is the Left Wedjat. Relativity benign but for the occult stuff surrounding it. It’s the one we are told all the celebrities use to freak people out with. There exists an earlier Right Wedjat. The eye of RA. This was used to destroy the people of Egypt that were rising against the rule of the master class led by Ra according to the Book of the Holy Cow (Egyptian Flood Myth. (this I did not know until looking into your theory. Always thought it was just Eye of Oris they flash at us, but it may well be the Eye of Ra. )

Note.. what was sent on Eye of Ra is basically the Myth is was real. That the Egyptians leaders flooded out the entire Nile Valley above the Delta on purpose. You’ll have to read it for explanation.

She was “an avid runner.”
She ran in a 10 mile marathon LAST MONTH.
She was “fully vaccinated.”
She “died suddenly” of a “medical emergency” yesterday.

Yours Truly cannot definitively state what happened with Ms. Stewart. However, it IS known that the COVID-19 “vaccines” do the following. among many other damaging / destructive effects, to the body of the “vaccinated” person:
ONE: Express the Spike Protein of the COVID-19 virus (and for an INDEFINITE period of time after “vaccination”);
TWO: Express the Spike Protein in the walls of the BLOOD VESSELS of the “vaccinated” person;
THREE: STRIP and DESTROY the endothelial cells (inner layer surface cells) of the BLOOD VESSELS of the “vaccinated” person, forcing the body to produce large amounts of lymphocytes to fight the destruction;
FOUR: INDUCE MYOCARDITIS in the “vaccinated” person’s heart;
FIVE: INDUCE CRACKS IN THE AORTA, which the “vaccinated” person’s body tries to fight by producing large amounts of lymphocytes;
SIX: INDUCE AORTIC RUPTURE.
SEVEN: CHANGE THE DNA of the “vaccinated” person.

On Saturday morning, I attended the Bay Area Engine Modelers club meeting, where I am a member.

Our immensely knowledgeable master machinist, Dwight Giles, continues to wind down his shop. Among other items to distribute, he has some sheet metal parts and supplies from when he built his own airplane. He let slip that it was a Wag-a-Bond Traveler ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wag-Aero_Wag-a-Bond ).

Wag-a-Bond kit planes were initially made in 1978 and 722 of them were known to have launched up to December, 2011. The Traveler was the extended model with doors, useful luggage capacity, and a more powerful engine.

Forty short years ago, a guy could build his own airplane and fly it around. Today, you’d have EPA ninnies worrying about it being electric.

POWERFUL LESSON and much appreciated and needed in our time, Bakocarl.

Several things come to mind:

This was often quoted in a church in my S GA hometown – a non-denominational church led by a former PCA pastor:
<b>In essentials, unity
In non-essentials, liberty
In all things, charity.</b>

My Christian understanding leans toward the universal basic common denominators of the Christian Faith and Gospel – as delineated in the admonition and warning of St. Vincent of Lerins – “Hold fast to that which was believed always, everywhere and by all…” starting with the foundational issue – JESUS IS LORD.

JESUS is the chief cornerstone, the foundation upon which all the rest of Christianity is built. Those that deny Christ’s incarnate divinity, His priesthood, His all-sufficient final blood sacrifice, His resurrection and ascension into heaven – are in error.

Anything added to the basics is tradition, built on human reasoning and preference, and can be a hindrance or point of divisiveness, pride, supremacy, exclusivity, even devolve into apostasy, heresy, blasphemy and affront to GOD Himself.

Absolutely true. Thank you so much. I’ve driven to the edge of sanity with some of my ‘religious’ friends.

I’ve finally gotten to the point where I just say, K.I.S.S. — Keep It Simple, Stupid.

One of your very best, bakocarl. Thank you for your personal witness.

The Baptist church we joined after much prayer and deliberation in the last year has a self chosen central theme – Jesus Changes Everything. The pastors, deacons and leaders of its various ministries and programs are held to that standard by the congregation who were involved in its origin. It is not just a slogan.

I have known the senior pastor since he was a teenager. He is close to the same age as our daughter and was involved in similar youth and young adult related activities. We became friends quickly and easily. I saw how he, his mother and brothers left religion for faithful service to Jesus when his earthly father abandoned their home. They could have fallen apart as a family. Instead a strong, believing mother was willing to adapt and change to help her family. With God’s clear calling on their lives, he and one brother have risen above their circumstances to become senior pastors of two large area Baptist congregations. Their personal growth as pastors, husbands and fathers has been remarkable.

The one we joined was a dying, rural church of less that 60 members when our friend accepted the role as a 30 year old. In the 10 years since it now has an average attendance of 600+ and a membership approaching 800 folks. Out of space – broke the fire codes for Easter services with three worship services. We will be expanding the facilities over the coming years. One of the ministries in the new facilities will be for homeschooling support for local families, something near and dear to our hearts.

All because a brother was called by Jesus to preach and minister to folks, a mission he has remained faithful to accomplishing

His brother planted a church in a neighboring tourist driven town with the assistance of local congregations. In about 5 years it has grown to over a thousand members and they are in the process of starting a private school to serve the local families, many of whom will be admitted at no cost to the parents due to the generous donations given by congregation members.

Jesus changes everything. Non-Bible supported church traditions died. The results prove the Word is faithful and true.

Wolf Moon | Threat to Demonocracy

Excellent!!! Good News – literally!

Gail Combs

“…One of the ministries in the new facilities will be for homeschooling support for local families, something near and dear to our hearts….”

Oh that is great!

A local church not far from us allowed home schoolers to use their basement meeting room for home schooling.

By organizing, families that could not afford to have one parent not working, were able to home school anyway. It also allowed people with different expertise to teach the subject they know best. On top of that, by organizing they could AFFORD to have people (like me) come in for one-off demos and such.

And the BEST PART? You are not subjecting your kids to Woke nonsense, PORNOGRAPHY AND LITTLE DRUG DEALERS!

As Clif High says, ‘the self-organizing collective’

Unfortunately I am afraid that along with the Christian Church, Home Schoolers are going to be a MAJOR TARGET of the Commie Left in coming years.

After the last week, I am not so sure. The collective fit the left threw over Harrison Butker’s commencement address didn’t go over well with some of the bigger leftie mouthpieces.

at this website: https://thedeplorablepatriot.com/2022/07/30/hundreds-of-pedo-teachers-caught-so-far-this-year/

Not surprising it has already been scrubbed but the wayback gives this:

Nationwide: One of the last places Americans should feel threatened by sexual misconduct crimes against our children is our own school system.

But in the first half of 2022, from January 1st to June 30th, 181 educators have been charged with child sex crimes ranging from possessing child pornography to improper touching, to rape, and everything in between.

That’s an average of about an arrest per day.

Among the 181 were 4 principals, 153 teachers, 12 substitutes and 12 teacher’s aides.

Question: why are “non-Bible supported traditions” that don’t contradict Scripture considered no go?

Just because it’s not done in Scripture doesn’t mean that traditions can’t point people toward God. That’s very much why Christian traditions sprang up in the first place.

TradeBait2

No disagreement from me on your points. It is primarily about dependence on tradition without consideration of scripture. We had leaders and deacons who were stuck in tradition that was not supported by scripture. It extended into the music ministry as well. As an example you can only use Just I Am during an invitation.

Take turning a person away or shunning a person for their attire or smell as an example. Turn their noses up at ex-cons or ex-addicts. Common problem in the past around here. The intent of cleanliness and wearing your best for Christ is good, but can run counter productive when people are ignored or shunned for not being that way if the goal is to welcome and encourage. One cannot change ones past, be happy they see the right way now.

Readings, traditional worship music, etc. that contribute to the worship experience are in the eye of the beholders and why we have so many churches and denominations. As long as they are scripturally sound – good to go. But we had a worship leader at the UMC 10 years ago that thought the congregation should sing Katy Perry’s Eye of the Tiger in support of the disadvantaged. That was a non-starter.

Oh, jeez. Our organist got in trouble for playing something like “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” after recessional as people were leaving the Church. Only sacred music is allowed, and there is no accounting for taste, that’s for sure.

Could be worse….our organist played a slowed and ornamented version of the Mickey Mouse Club March for the recessional at graduation.

PTL I hope in the building process your church maintains its connections to truth & its roots. We’ve been in a number of churches who had their heart & soul altered in building programs, & sadly not for the better.

What a blessing to have found such a precious church home!

Wolf Moon | Threat to Demonocracy

Good stuff! Thank you, Carl!

Oh, that example of a [specific, individual] church tradition splitting a church – I’ve heard of a number of those.

Aubergine

I am aware that people have complained at our church, and some have actually left, because (gasp!) we don’t use hymnals, the words to the songs are projected onto a screen, they aren’t “numbered,” (whatever that means), and there are no printed copies available.

When told this, I really couldn’t believe it. But it’s true. That is one of the most petty reasons not to attend a church I have ever heard.

Gail Combs

Aubergine,

I think is is about COMFORT LEVEL.

I remember meeting a woman in DC. She had been born in the 1880s and had lived from the time of the Horse and Buggy to ‘Man on the Moon’ WOW what MIND BOGGLING changes!

For my generation it is going from the printed word to everything on computer screens, whether as a home computer or a Iphone.

In a bewildering world of fast changes, people see the church as an anchor in a storm of fast moving change. To have that change, the Written Word ==> ‘Computer screen’ follow them into their sanctuary against the world is the last straw.

ESPECIALLY if they no longer trust computers to NOT change stuff.

Aubergine

That makes sense to me. But I think there a things that are so much more important in a church. WHAT is being taught is so much bigger than HOW.

But that is just my opinion.

What I don’t understand is complaining and throwing a fit about it. Just find a church that suits you, and go there. Our congregation is huge for the area, and growing. Others are small and struggling; trying to change what is obviously working to suit yourself seems selfish to me.

Gail Combs

I think it is ‘the straw that broke the camel’s back‘ problem.

For many people, in the last 8 years, their whole world view is SHATTERING.

  • They are finding they can not trust the ‘Fake News’
  • Politicians are not only selfish and crooked by EVIL and likely traitors.
  • Child Sex trafficking is a HUGE problem and facilitated by politicians
  • Our Elite actually want us dead
  • Our doctors will willingly destroy our health if offered enough $$$…

Even if they do not acknowledge this info openly, it is lurking out there and worming it’s way into their brain.

So what I think you are seeing is rebellion against more change that, in calmer times would not bother these same people.

pgroup2

We were warned, repeatedly, throughout Scripture — keep your eyes on the prize.

You can’t walk on water if you take your eyes away from Him. Peter found that out the hard way. The changes of which you speak have many side effects but they are simply signposts along our way.

Barb Meier

^^^ great points, Gail.

Aubergine

Seems like a possibility. A lot of people aren’t handling it well. Q said some people wouldn’t want to know.

Gail Combs

We have a pretty good handle on what is happening a a fairly optimistic outlook but many many people do not have our indepth knowledge and MUST find the current affairs down right frightening.

Aubergine

I agree. I feel bad for them.

kalbokalbs

My life these days, it is easier to identify what has not shattered, as so much has shattered.

Latter, the shattered, seemingly endless AND I try not to dwell on it or think about it much.

I embrace what is intact and nurture it. Most of it I can’t do a damn thing about, short of push back, which I do, when it is presented.

Barb Meier

One of the things I love about this part of rural Virgiinia is the great number of small churches sprinkled around the countryside. They are welcoming to newcomers but have no aspiration to become megachurches. My neighbor goes to one such non-denominational church and it is small compared to some other churches in the area. I think its members see that as a feature, not a flaw. In my limited exposure to them, they behave like family and help one another.

Wolf Moon | Threat to Demonocracy

Yup! I know some “micro-church” folks, and they love the smallness!

Gail Combs

“…have no aspiration to become megachurches….”

As far as I am concerned that is a BIG TELL!

I do not like the megachurches. They seem to be more about $$$ than about faith.

pgroup2

Quite the insight you have. But I always say, see where the leader of the flock lays his head. The Son of Man had no place to lay His head during His physical sojourn.

We should not be too much better, lest we slip away.

Gail Combs

Our family moved a LOT, (40 addresses by the time I was 30)

When we moved to a new town we went to every church to determine which church actually ‘spoke to us’

I have been a regular at Anglican, Lutheran, Presbyterian, and even Catholic churches.

pgroup2

So you vetted them. Good show.

Gail Combs

Yes, we vetted them, or rather my parents did and I continued from there.

Barb Meier

Big crowds give me hiccups. LOL

pgroup2

TradeBait2

🤣

Aubergine

My church is a “small church” in that sense. And the pastor doesn’t want it to get any bigger. He has said we will have to seed another church if the growth continues.

Gail Combs

That sounds very good. I do not like large churches because them seem so impersonal.

(we do a lot of gigs at churches.)

Aubergine

It is really good. Which is why it is growing! But the growth is being managed really well. Our pastor is very down-to-earth. There is also NO plate-passing or funds-solicitation. Tithing is not mentioned. The pastor says if we ever see one of those fund-raising thermometer signs on the wall, we should RUN out of the church. Of course, people including me do tithe, because we should, but we are not asked.

TradeBait2

Same with ours. No plates, no solicitations, no signs. We do one business meeting at the end of the year for the next year with the budget and ministry plans. Yet, givings are not a problem at all. The church is financially sound with a large capital fund building for facilities expansion. Most members have them debit their checking accounts monthly, others mail in checks.

Ten years ago the small remnant were ready to close the doors.

Aubergine

That is a wonderful thing!

Barb Meier

Thanks for your insight, Gail….

Deplorable Patriot

Just speaking as a musician, I would rather have a hymnal so as to have the actual music in front of me.

People do need to go where they are fed, that’s for sure.

Wolf Moon | Threat to Demonocracy

Amen!

Gail Combs

I mentioned this to Hubby, and he said he always wanted to read the words AND THE MUSIC.

It is interesting because his family is and always were Atheists BUT raised their children within the Church BECAUSE of the moral code that is taught.

It STUCK, and a lot better than in some of the ‘religious’ I know.

Alison

This was my thought as well. Singing is as much about the music/notes as it is the words.

but I certainly wouldn’t pitch a fit. “Find a fit; don’t pitch it.” 😁

Gail Combs

I think the ‘fit’ was just an expression of a build up frustration and helplessness in a world gone mad. They finally had some they could do as a release.

I do not know the people or the situation except that we are not in ‘calm times’ right now.

Alison

That’s a good point, Gail. Well said 🩷

TradeBait2

👍

Wolf Moon | Threat to Demonocracy

I’m OK with or without hymnals, although I prefer them. I can actually follow projected hymns more easily, TBH, and I totally understand why they are used, but I like being able to read ahead, read behind, and reflect on the entire hymn. But IMO that is a selfish concern, and if the pastor prefers projections for the benefit of the entire flock, then that is happily their call, and not mine.

The red flag for me is NO BIBLES. Sure, I can bring my own, but there is a part of me that believes we are all subordinate to THE WORD, and it better be there, for each and every person who forgot their Bible. The first thing I do when I sit down is grab a Bible and open it up – even if I have my own. If the Bible isn’t there, I don’t feel right. It’s like putting the key in the ignition.

pgroup2

Tesla doesn’t have a key. That makes it heathen? 😂

Wolf Moon | Threat to Demonocracy

Well, you don’t see me driving one!!! 😉

Aubergine

There are always Bibles around. Our pastor likes the sound of pages turning. A lot of people use their phones. He (and I) prefers the actual Book.

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

What I see–much more often than not when I happen to be in a church–is hymnals, not Bibles.

These are likely churches that expect you will bring your very-well-used Bible.

Valerie Curren

What type of churches do you attend? Given hymnals I would guess likely a more mainline type?

I prefer a paper Bible too though I often don’t bring mine as they are typically projecting the scripture on the wall/screens. If I have the paper Bible I tend to get distracted by various things & tune out the speaker to dig more into the Word. I can still do the mental flights of fancy even without the paper Book. Ever since becoming a parent I’ve found that my ability to concentrate has become Extremely Fractured 🙄

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

It’s not so much attending churches, as happening to go to meetings hosted at churches.

And they tend to be fundamentalist / evangelical ones.

Valerie Curren

OK, TY. What kind of meetings draw you in?

I haven’t been to a church that I wasn’t a loose attender of for a while. I did do a Passover/Seder event at a local church before. I’ve been to several concerts for my nieces & nephew at a local Methodist Church w/ a lovely auditorium–the Homeschool orchestra was spectacular. Several of my husband’s bands used to play gigs for Celebrate Recovery so we were there for those events quite a few times. Many years ago I attended a talk by an abortion survivor at a local church. Other than those things I don’t recall visiting a different church for a while. Well back when my kids were in Christian School we went to various other churches for sporting events 🙂

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

Oh it’s usually local political stuff.

Valerie Curren

I’m surprised that the “fundamentalist / evangelical ones” can get away with that! I thought only black or leftie churches could get away w/ political stuff in their venues 😉

TradeBait2

We have the Bibles in the pews as I posted. We do not have the hymnals. I have worn out two study Bibles that I formerly carried to church. I did the man thing. I used duct tape on the covers to hold them together. 😀 I still use them at home because of the notes and highlighting. But I go new school with the cell phone app at church.

Wolf Moon | Threat to Demonocracy

Cell phone Bibles are awesome! When “Pocket PCs” were a thing before smart phones, I had one, and having a Bible program on it was truly amazing!

Valerie Curren

Deplorable Patriot

That’s where the Church having a proscribed Liturgy calls for a guide and the Scripture readings are in it.

TradeBait2

Yup. One of our better friends is 85 years old. He had a rough home life until the past 20 years. Five wives and a difficult relationship with his son, who is a pastor. He softened as he aged, married a good woman, and reconciled with the Lord and his son. Now he is all about worship in a non-traditional environment because he wants the screens with scripture and lyrics on them with praise and worship music because that is what type service his son leads in a now, Global Methodist Church.

So he visited our church because they have family who are members there. Dislikes it because we did not have scripture on the screens. We have Bibles in the back of the pews instead. 🤪 Everything else is similar. He then said our pastor jokes too much. His son is dry and a bit boring in a declining church, but that is OK in our friend’s mind (because he is his son).

Sort of misses the point. Whatever. Just glad he is in a church.

Wolf Moon | Threat to Demonocracy

Sort of misses the point. Whatever. Just glad he is in a church.

Amen!

Aubergine

That’s a good thing. Everybody has their own style. As long as it’s Biblical, I’m good with it.

I enjoy visiting other churches, but I love mine.

Valerie Curren

My husband has come to the conclusion that music is one of the most divisive aspects of church nowadays. Traditional versus contemporary, hymns vs praise/worship songs, volume, extras like lights or fog, regular vs electronic drums, choirs vs soloists vs no special music at all, praise/worship in the Spirit vs only what is planned beforehand, guitar vs piano vs keyboard, location of musicians, direction of speakers, in-ear monitors vs monitor speakers, click track or no…it goes on & on.

Years ago the Christian music group Second Chapter of Acts did an album called Hymns, that had traditional hymns but with updated music. I thought my mom would love it but it was absolutely Not to her taste–I thought it was great. That many hymns, stylistically, grew out of common drinking songs back in their initial era, doesn’t stop many people from presuming that they are somehow more sacred than songs that musically are more reflective of the prevailing culture at the time of their creation.

It’s a fascinating, & sometimes discouraging, aspect of Christian living.

Years back my husband’s then band had a gig at a small venue. The opening act was a father/daughter offering where the dad played guitar & the daughter did rhythm & vocals & her vocals were truly hard on the ear (& one song she sang with a very lovely voice so this was a deliberate style). My husband & son had to step out of the room as the brutal sound was too much for them. I didn’t Like the way the music sounded, but the lyrics were Very God Honoring & I found myself moved to tears multiple times as they played their set. I was imagining the Spirit of God as He hovered over our world down through the ages & heard hearts cry out to him in the styles of the various eras through the millennia. The style that night was a post-Apocalyptic Brutalist assault on the senses that was jarring, moving, & compelling in it’s own very uncomfortable way.

I spoke with the young lady afterwards & we had a very deep conversation. It turns out that she lived largely in isolation w/ her only sibling a severely autistic brother. Ultimately we exchanged contact info & I put her in touch with my daughter Clarissa & they have had a long-distance friendship since, both being the only sisters of autistic brothers.

That venue had had this group there multiple times so clearly this form of music was meaningful to the people who regularly attended these events. Some of the congregants seemed like just a step “above” street people or like rock bottom AA attendees. Clearly this form of “ministry” worked its way into the hearts & minds of many who were there.

You Never Know who you might be reaching, or who God is touching, through the sacrifice of praise!

Wolf Moon | Threat to Demonocracy

Powerful story! Thanks!

Valerie Curren

YW  😇

Aubergine

Good for them! Singing before God can take many forms. I think personal taste in music is just that.

My problems come with people who think their taste should change things for everyone, instead of just finding somewhere that their tastes are accommodated.

Valerie Curren

It can be nice when a church tries to be a bit adaptive to different tastes & preferences, but not without a heads up to the congregation. Our old church would occasionally have a “hymn Sunday” where most of the music was hymns. Sometimes there would be youth lead worship & that was usually louder than typical & perhaps even more contemporary than the regular praise & worship. Letting people know ahead of time gives them the option to attend or avoid a service depending on their personal preferences & convictions.

PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD

Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.

I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.

Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.

May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.

With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.

Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.

Thank you Father God, my Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that I am more than a conqueror in my Lord Jesus. I pray all of this in the mighty name of my Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ, Amen.

GOD’S GREAT LOVE

When God gave His Only Begotten Son;
The ransom for souls – the victory won;

He demonstrated His great love to be;

For all His Beloved – for you and me!

By the Blood of the Lamb – we are redeemed;

There’s no other way it could be it seemed;

His sacrifice was pure – untainted by sin;

Let the suffering end – His new life begin!

There is no greater love one man can give;

Than to lay down His life and to forgive;

He forgave His oppressors – yes He did;

His victory over death – all amid!

What does God want in return for His love?

Is it peace among men or branch of olive?

For what do we strive to do day after day?

What is it we need – to live only His way?

We must love Him with our mind, heart, and soul;

Serve Him through others – His heart to console;

Serve no other gods – no idols have we;

The servant of all – He wants us to be!

We must keep our Sabbath to worship Him;

Not just for one day – but surely passim;

We must honor our earthly mother and dad;

The best of caretakers we ever had!

We must not kill our brother – any way;

In spirit or slander or libel – betray;

We must take not – what belongs not to us;

Or covet the goods of another thus!

We must not covet the wife of any man;

Or lust in our hearts because we can;

No envy or malice can we keep inside;

Nor from God should we ever seek to hide!

We must love our neighbor as Jesus loved;

Do all that we can – make him so beloved;

For it is in giving that we will receive;

And it is in dying – we come to believe!

Dying to self – to follow Jesus, Our Lord;

Is that which will bring us to full accord;

Keeping His Word – we must strive to do;

For God’s Great Love lives in me and you!

Deplorable Patriot

Just a nit-pick here from someone who is very involved in a very tradition minded Church, Christ never said the traditions themselves were not serving Him, but the motivations behind them weren’t. That’s the key with tradition: are we doing it to serve Him, or for show? The Pharisees did it for show, that was Jesus’s point.

The parable of the two men praying in the temple lays that out.

Gail Combs

“….motivations behind them…”

And that is THE KEY to everything!

Wolf Moon | Threat to Demonocracy

Tradition brings many to faith, and keeps them faithful. It’s a balancing act.

pgroup2

Faithful to what? Faithful to tradition or faithful to God?

Isn’t the whole point – who or what are you following?

Wolf Moon | Threat to Demonocracy

Gotta know which is which – and act accordingly!

pgroup2

But did the Pharisees even realize that they were being self-serving? After all, that’s the way they were taught to do their thing.

They were primarily protecting their turf, so to speak, from this interloper [how they viewed Christ]. His massive following was a threat because they had hearts so hard they couldn’t see His nature. IMO, of course.

Wolf Moon | Threat to Demonocracy

The Pharisees failed to examine self (personally and institutionally) – though not all of them. I think a few of them WERE questioning things because of Jesus (if Nicodemus serves as an example), and THAT was a real threat to some of their fellow Pharisees, and the Sadducees.

pgroup2

Agreed.

Allow me to point out that one can have multiple threats at the same time.

Hard to argue with this assessment; however, let’s just watch November followed by January [what? the 20th] to understand all of this. If all of this goes according to [our] plan, the oil for the ROTW won’t matter since we’ll have all we need and maybe, just maybe not share. Oh, did I mention the mass deportations to original counties? Cutting inflation? Etc., etc.

I dunno there were maybe a dozen people katty-korner by the church.

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

kalbokalbs

Gail Combs

AAAaaaahhh but had church just ‘let out’ and people were waiting to cross the street?
🤔

kalbokalbs

Possibility. Likely.

Valerie Curren

I noticed you used “katty-korner” & where I’m from Kitty-Corner is the way we say it. When I was in college in OK I heard both usages but we had a very mixed student body from virtually all states in the nation & many nations in the world. Any idea where the regional distinctions for that phrase lie?

We say grocery bag, not sack
pop not soda
coopons not cue-pons
ash-fault for asphalt (I know it’s wrong but like it so still use it)
& many say sher-bert instead of sherbet
oh many also say real-a-ter whereas I say real-tor

in OK many people said Suit for Suite (sweet)

I knew some people who said Warsh as the first syllable of Washington or Washing machine, which I never understood.

Oh & it seems that A lot of public speakers, like Hannity, say Foe-ward for Forward 🙄

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

No idea about katty corner vs. any other variant.

Let’s see: I say:

Grocer bag
Soda (though people try to “correct” me sometimes; so I’m guessing that’s my parents’ dialect not local (they weren’t from CO).
Coopons
ass-fault (which sounds like incontinence to me)
sherbet I actually remember the first time I ever heard someone pronounce that word; I was able to read by then and saw “sherbert” on the package and though, wow that’s odd.
Realator drives me nuts. Where the blazing fook is that extra A coming from?
Suite and Sweet sound identical coming from me.
I don’t know where waRsh comes from but it’s specific to some part of the country.
And I pronounce the R in forward, but it’s not prominent, which is probably why some drop it.

No way is my accent “typical” of Colorado (even if you strip away the zillions of people who have moved here in the last 40 years); my parents as I said are from a different part of the country and I’ve had some influence from them.

Valerie Curren

Yes Suite & Sweet are the same sound, in OK they pronounced Suite as suit, like a law suit or suit of clothes, drove me nuts on furniture commercials, a bedroom suit 🙁

I hate the mispronunciation of realtor too!

I agree on the incontinence concept 😉

I thought of another one, “W” pronounced Double-You Not Dub-yuh

& an annoying pet peeve of mine is how Canadians & Brits pronounce All of the Alphabet like Americans except Z (Zee) which they say like the French Zed, makes Zero Sense to me!

Where did your parents hail from? Both of mine grew up in the city of Detroit but moved to the suburbs upon marriage, into the city where my dad’s job was. They moved into their house when pregnant w/ me as their landlord kicked them out of their rental after a raucous New Year’s Eve gathering w/ friends when mom was 7 1/2 months pregnant w/ me, their first. They are still in their home, though I believe all other homes on their block, at least on their street side, have turned over ownership a few times since they’ve been there. Their city is now heavily Muslim, whereas ours, not too far from them is now lightly getting Muslimized…

When we visited Colorado when our kids were youngish, 15-20 years ago, it seemed as if the typical speech was pretty close to Northern speech, though perhaps more like Ohio (supposedly perfectly neutral American accent) than the more “honking” vowels typical in Michigan. There might have been a tad bit of “Valley Girl” style speech there too…at least with some of the outdoor types we encountered, maybe transplanted.

My Hubby is from CO but grew up in OK when his parents divorced when he was 5 or 6. He’s actually now lived longer in MI than his time in CO & OK combined, PTL. His speech & mine is slightly tempered by time in the South so the vowels aren’t nearly as honking as many in MI are 🙂

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

Present day Coloradoan (actually nowadays the word is Coloradan…I’m deliberately sticking to the old form even though it’s older than I am) sounds pretty neutral to me though in rural areas there is a distinct western twang to people’s speech…at least those who (unlike me) aren’t refugees from urban areas.

Valerie Curren

Is “western twang” more like southern?

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

Not really. Think cowboys. Maybe some resemblance to Texan, but not eastern Texan.

Valerie Curren

Here is a Brave AI response on my former Q to U

Kitty corner vs catty corner
The age-old debate!  🙂

The terms “kitty corner” and “catty corner” are both used to describe something that is located diagonally from something else. However, the usage of these phrases varies greatly depending on the region.

According to the search results, in Canada, “kitty corner” is the more commonly used phrase, while in the Southern United States, “catty corner” is more prevalent. In the Midwest and South, both phrases are used with equal frequency. The phrase “catty corner” is also more commonly used in the UK and Australia.

The origin of these phrases lies in the French word “quatre,” meaning “four,” which was Anglicized as “cater.” Over time, the phrase evolved into “kitty corner” and “catty corner,” with the “kitty” and “catty” prefixes being added to the word “cater.”

In summary, while both phrases are used to describe something located diagonally, the choice between “kitty corner” and “catty corner” largely depends on the region and personal preference. 🙂

Interesting, thank you.

Some of that reminded me of the old 3 Stooges films where their NYC accents are much more pronounced than is as typical today. I remember hearing Michael Savage (Weiner, iirc) lamenting the loss of the stereotypical NYC accent. I believe that Tine Forte has such a strong NYC accent still.

Beethoven’s Ninth but not just ANY performance of it.

This is the one in Berlin, shortly after the wall fell. Musicians from many countries came together to perform this, and it was conducted by Leonard Bernstein.

In the choral finale, the word “freude” (joy) is usually (not quite always) changed to “freiheit” (freedom). A decision made by Bernstein, and on any other occasion such a liberty would be unthinkable.

Regarding the discussion about the unusual and inconsistent changes to Biden’s appearance & behaviors:

Tony Mendez’s book ‘The Master of Disguise’ describes how he recruited magicians and Hollywood special effects artists to develop specialized equipment for the CIA’s Office of Technical Services division — specifically, sophisticated and realistic disguise masks.

The Master of Disguise PDF eBook

https://cdn.preterhuman.net/texts/government_information/intelligence_and_espionage/The.Master.of.Disguise.pdf

“The White House, Spring 1989

Jonna Goeser [later, Mendez], who had recently moved up from Deputy to Chief of Disguise, had been one of my strongest collaborators in developing the OTS Special Surveillance Team’s variant of the KGB’s “ghost” surveillance in Moscow. But we had gone one step further, incorporating into these procedures a variety of extremely refined DAGGER disguise techniques, which remain classified…

…[I]t was only fitting that she be given the honor of unveiling this disguise technique to President George Bush…

Once the group was seated before Bush’s desk, Webster introduced Jonna with a pseudonym, describing her as an “Agency specialist”…

Jonna rose and opened her briefing book. “Mr. President…” she began.

Bush seemed intrigued, then disconcerted, as Jonna reached up to her face and pulled away something…Suddenly, the diminutive young brunette seemed to slip away. The Secret Service guard at the entrance door moved forward, but [DCI William] Webster raised his palm to stop him.

Jonna had metamorphosed into a classy lady of forty, with untainted makeup…As she laid down her briefing book and tossed the paper-thin disguise into the air, it hung suspended in the sunlight for a moment before she caught it.

The leaders in the room were speechless.”

Jonna Mendez (Tony Mendez’s wife & also a former CIA Chief of Disguise) discusses CIA disguise technologies

TheseTruths

That video has been brought here several times. *They* are capable of excellent disguises. They are capable of making disguises so lifelike that others aren’t aware they are disguises, even when talking to the person.

But can they make a disguise of, for example, your Aunt Beulah, put it on a woman of similar build, and have that woman fool you into thinking she’s your aunt? The answer is no.

Two things:
1.A mask/disguise of an unknown person that is so authentic that people don’t realize it’s a mask.
2.A mask/disguise of a person known to others that would also have to have the exact height, weight, build, level of fitness, shape of hands, skin tone, voice pitch, voice timbre, hair style and color and length, gait, body of knowledge, etc., as the known entity.

The two are not the same.

Gail Combs

We are not talking about ole’ poopy pants fooling his keepers, we are talking about an actor being trotted out to fool the masses who have never met the man.

Trump mentions Biden being shot up with drugs for the State of the Union address. It would be a LOT easier and safer to use a body double.

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

So the relevant question here is how well Trump knows Biden. How often did he interact with Biden face-to-face while Trump was POTUS?

Or anyone else…anyone else who would know Biden well enough, and watch the State of the Union. I am sure hundreds of people know Biden well enough to catch a fake on TV.

Trump would undoubtedly have called them out if they used a body double (if he could detect it). Many others would too. Yet no one has.

We’ve had people speculate that they used a body double here, but no one has come out and said, “I know Joe Biden well, unfortunately (because he’s a turd in human form) from having dealt with him in the Senate, and that was not Joe Biden.” I have difficulty believing they could shut everyone up; not everyone who knows Biden well is a friend of his, or his agenda.

We are not talking about ole’ poopy pants fooling his keepers, we are talking about an actor being trotted out to fool the masses who have never met the man.

I know. But WE know what he looks and sounds like. (At least, I think we do. I’m amazed sometimes at the things people say that aren’t accurate.)

Trotting him out to the masses means having a video record of the event. The anons would be on it in a second if an imposter were presented as JB. And I mean the real, expert “autists,” not someone who takes a look and declares they look different.

Trump mentions Biden being shot up with drugs for the State of the Union address. It would be a LOT easier and safer to use a body double.

That had occurred to me as well. I disagree that it would be easier, for all the reasons I’ve mentioned here probably 20 times. A mask might be “easy”; the rest of it, no way. The risk they would be taking would be enormous. This theory also means that people think Trump would be fooled.

So we have people on the internet who can pick out supposed differences in appearance just by looking at side-by-side pics, but people think Trump could be fooled while in the same room with the imposter and interacting with him. It makes no sense to me.

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

Maybe if you repeat all of this twenty more times it will sink in.

And I will remind people that one of our self-proclaimed experts called Wayne Newton a fake of himself.

Last edited 4 months ago by SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA
TheseTruths

Maybe if you repeat all of this twenty more times it will sink in.

From all I’m seeing, I doubt it. 😞

And I will remind people that one of our self-proclaimed experts called Wayne Newton a fake.

Exactly!

TheseTruths

Additionally, people are saying these things:

1.Masks can be made that are so realistic they can fool people into thinking they are another person,. Therefore, the capability exists to deceive people into thinking that an imposter is really JB.

Also:

2.A body double can impersonate JB, yet people who have never met him can detect the difference just by looking at random pics on the internet.

So what is the theory here? That body doubles have been used that fool LOTS of people, but not the sharpest tools in the drawer that are browsing the internet? If people are picking up on “differences” just by looking at pics that were taken at different times, with different lighting, with JB in different conditions, then how do they think anyone could ever be fooled by his “doubles,” or that they could be deceived into thinking any body double, even one wearing a realistic mask, could be him?

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

I think the theory originally was that we were really still in charge (“this is all a movie”) and WE were running the fake Bidens. Which is even more untenable than the idea the Left was running the fake Bidens, for exactly the reasons you cite; it’s even more likely someone on Biden’s side would detect and call out a fake run by MAGA people than it is that people on our side would run a Demonrat-run fake.

I think the MAGA-run fake theory is dead…but maybe they’ve just stopped talking about it because they’re tired of arguing with us.

TheseTruths

First, I don’t take anyone’s word about when something took place or whether it has been doctored. So maybe it’s as the X post says, and maybe it isn’t.

The lighting is different.

The video on the right looks altered to me, but I’m not an expert. Something about especially the right side of his hair and his ear not looking normal against the background.

JB’s eyes are more open in the video on the right. That could be the result of medication, sleep condition, general physical condition, etc. I suspect that medication could play a large role in how he looks.

In both, as he moves his mouth while speaking, the movement and the amount of teeth showing looks the same.

So what to make of it? Nothing. I don’t understand the fascination with his appearance. I could take pics or videos of Trump on different days, and his hair would look different. Sometimes it looks a slightly different shade. Sometimes the style is a little different. And sometimes he seems more slender than others, even on dates that are close to one another. He must have a lot of body doubles. /sarc

TheseTruths

Commenters here are saying the video on the right is from July 2020 or 2022 (therefore not last weekend). I have found that people will throw accuracy and truth to the winds to try to make some point. And that negates the whole thing.

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

Yep.

People like that might as well be enemies of our cause…if they aren’t actually enemies of our cause.

This is why I advise people to STOP LISTENING to “sources” that have been proven fakers again and again (or similarly, people who make predictions that fail to come to pass, again and again).

I at least persuaded people to stop posting Dianne Marshall bullshit here; but I wouldn’t be surprised if they continue to do so elsewhere.

the smoother forehead of the guy on our right made me wonder about botox. He could also function a bit differently depending upon which drugs he’s under the influence of. His nose appears to have the same or similar topography in both videos, fwiw…

It’s also possible that one video has been reversed to give us the mirror image which makes things seem a bit off. Remember that left handedness “proof” of a fake FJB/LGB that was actually a reversed video, iirc?

The Department of State said it is also “aware of the increased potential for foreign terrorist organization-inspired violence against” LGBT people, echoing a statement issued by the FBI and Department of Homeland Security earlier this week that terrorist groups such as ISIS could target “Pride” month-related events in June.

Little Marco proves that he has no problem standing up to the fake news media, when he wants to.

So the question is, why doesn’t he (and all the other RINOs) stand up to the fake news media all the time? They’re certainly capable, when they choose to!

Ha I saw we were over 200 & wondered about the “lion” LOL

Given he was post 201…wow, you gotta give him a few seconds to respond…

LOL I was going to jump in w/ the “lion” myself but Cthulhu beat me to it. Once the daily & comments have been fully read when comments trickle in it’s easy to see the latest so at least This Time I didn’t duplicate the effort like on your post yesterday 😉

I’ve noticed people usually wait until 300 for me and 200 for Carl.

Sunday’s a slower day obviously. I don’t imagine it has a dang thing to do with the content of the posts…if anything Carl gets more people engaging with what he posts than I do, so all other things the same he should get more comments than I do. Clearly all other things aren’t the same.

I think more readers are here on the weekday posts, or more who choose to comment at least. Oftentimes people are busy on the weekends so perhaps don’t get to dive in as much. A couple weeks back there was a pretty fast developing conversation on someone’s daily, maybe Wolf’s, & I wanted to post “100” only to realize we don’t have that “lion” option yet 🙂

I think your posts often benefit from the “night crew” since both you & Cthulhu are in the earlier time zones so are likely to still be up & interactive when people w/ “normal” schedules in the Eastern Zone have gone to bed. Clearly I Never put myself in the “normal” category, pretty much no matter what the topic! 🙃
