Ingredients
- 2 oz rum preferably Pusser’s
- 4 oz pineapple juice
- 1 oz fresh orange juice
- 1 oz cream of coconut
- Pineapple wedge garnish
- Nutmeg to taste
Instructions
- Begin by adding all of the liquids to your cocktail shaker with ice, and shaking until you have a well-chilled mixture
- Strain your drink over the crushed ice into a hurricane glass or snifter
- Garnish it with the pineapple wedge
- Grate the nutmeg if necessary, then sprinkle it on top
- Serve your finished drink with a straw and enjoy the delicious refreshment

Gail – in case hubby wants some good foot and balancing exercises, these links will give him a good idea of what he’d get from a physical therapist.
First link is a video with 12 balance exercises … on ones with a leg lift, just lifting foot/leg up slightly is fine; he doesn’t have to strive for height to get the benefit. Keep knees slightly bent in all standing exercise to avoid locking them.

Third link is exercises for feet. In addition to the exercises, I encourage hubby to spend time standing barefoot and concentrating on various foot movements (squeezing toes; stretching toes; lifting toes to rock on heel, etc.) as well as standing still with eyes closed and concentrating on how his soles ‘ground him’. We often lose touch with the very base on which our body is supported!!

My brother is 3 years younger and his wife is 7 years younger than me. My other brother is also 7 years younger than me.
The difference in our critical thinking skills, our political views and even our lifestyle choices are astounding to me, given we went to the same schools in a relatively small town in a relatively short period of time. The biggest differences are notable with our 7-year gaps. I doubt questions like “Does that even make sense” or “Who stands to gain” or “Why would … ”
They are definitely not less intelligent nor educated than I am, but the end result of how we approach almost everything is different.
I think we are at least two generations, going on three, away from that critical thinking skill set being taught or utilized in daily or professional decisions.
My friends and I noticed it in 7th grade!!! I had 2 friends a year younger than I and the schooling was crap for them compared to mine. That would have been in the earlier 60s just before the Civil Rights laws passed.

What actually happens is the hen continues to lay eggs but DOES NOT SET aka go broody until her hormones kick in. At that point she quits laying and settles down on the eggs triggering them via her warmth to start developing into chicks/ducklings.
As long as the eggs are not washed they will not go bad and will remain dormant.
Some breeds of chickens do not go ‘broody’ at least not often so homesteaders will have Silkie Chickens to hatch the eggs. A silky, even the roosters will set on anything including golf balls. 😉
A silkie rooster. They are really sweet birds and some people keep them for pets. I saw my first pair riding on the handle of a grocery cart at Home Depot!

Many people have only hens. They will lay but since they are not fertilized by a rooster, the eggs will never produce chicks.
Unless you are planning to eat the roosters or raise your own chicks, I would suggest NOT getting a rooster.

Had a glory moment 2 days ago eating a yellow squash from my little garden.
Congrats. My husband & daughter discovered a mini black raspberry patch we didn’t know we had in our backyard the other day. She wanted to borrow a trash can & so they checked out this little side fenced in enclosure next to our garage where yard detritus & other unsightly stuff is hidden away (we rarely go in there clearly) & they found this unexpected black raspberry patch. I’d just picked a berry off our back fence line, where we acquired some berry bushes that overgrew from our rear neighbor’s yard over the years, but didn’t expect more than a handful of berries from that once they’d ripened. Our daughter did some picking that day & a couple days later & is freezing them to make either a berry pie or possibly some jam once the berries are done.
What a treat to get (unexpected) bounty from our yards!
I found a strawberry in my daughter’s grass the other day so showed her the strawberry plants growing there. She’s actually got quite a few such plants scattered in her yard, she had no idea about them, so hopefully she won’t be cutting the grass in their vicinity until they are done producing. She hopes to group them together in a bit of a patch.
She’s also got a grapevine that is actually producing grapes! We’ve had a grapevine on our porch railing for years but we don’t know if it can generate grapes–early in the season there are very small clusters of something that Might be proto grapes on it but so far we aren’t around enough due to holiday travels to prune back the leaves in that crucial growth stage to see if the fruit will actually fully form. I use the grape leaves in cooking sometimes & it always feels great to get something edible from our own yard. Daughter plans to make some stuffed grape leaves, like we get in local Arabic restaurants, from her own backyard abundance 😍

SCOTUS issued 5 opinions today. One that is bad upholds confiscation of firearms via restraining order. It is a perfect example of using appeal to create bad precedent.
While I still hold to the illusion that the legal system can be restored, it is clear that emotions can be manipulated even at the high level of the Supreme Court.
When you read the facts about the case you will instantly see that this case should never have been granted certiorari by the SCOTUS clerks. This piece of shit should have been in prison, not subject to a restraining order. The claim of constitutional violation was weak and frankly … stupid.
The clerks who conspired to grant certiorari for this case were NOT 2A supporters IMO. Rather, they were gun haters who saw how weak the case was and realized it could be used to close off a whole section of gun control law from future review.

Mobility is NOT a problem. I can literally touch the bone on either side of the ankle to the ground at a run and not ‘sprain’ an ankle, they are that floppy.
I spent a year in a wheel chair in grade school and then should have been put in braces to allow the legs to grow WITHOUT stretching the tendons further. PLUS I should have been given physical therapy. However they did not do that back then. Actually I am darn lucky to be walking so kudos to my surgeon.
I spent a lot of time over the years with both ankles wrapped in elastic bandages so I could hike, back pack, climb, cave…. Sturdy boots really helped. FORGET high heels!😂
Obviously I did not let my weak ankles slow me down, 😋 it is just I noticed lately, the muscles are not as strong so my balance is not as good.
Oh gosh, it is amazing you are as active as you are with all your outdoor chores & business with that history of ankle issues!! I usually hesitate to recommend videos and/or therapies for that reason – we all are built differently and have varied ailments or injuries, so what works exercise-wise for one might be completely wrong for someone else!
what I do know is I recently attended several months of PT for painful knee osteoarthritis in lieu of questionable knee replacement surgery. I went in thinking we’d concentrate on my knees when it turned out I learned exercises geared to several sets of muscles that I hadn’t realized affected knees so much. As long as I keep up with those exercises, I can hike painfree again and no longer use my knee brace. 👍
Thus I’m confident that any lower body strengthening you do will benefit your ankles and your balance.
My knee problems are directly related to my floppy ankles. Once I manufactured a wedge to put in the inner heel of each shoe, the knee pain went away.
To correct for the collapse to the inside, I had 1/4 inch wedges in the inner heels of both shoes until I was 18. BOY did I hate leather soled Oxfords by then! So I quit wearing them. Now I am paying for it.

Heavenly Father, thank You for bringing me through this day and Lord, forgive me for the times when I have wandered outside Your best will for me, instead of trusting You implicitly.
Thank You, that You are such a gracious Shepherd to me and that You come and rescue me even when I lose my way and stray from the path that You have laid out for me.
As I look back over today, I know Lord that there were things that I should have said and done differently, and times when I reacted in a manner that was not honouring Your holy name. Forgive me I pray, but thank You, Father, that You always faithfully prepared to gently bring me back to Yourself.

In 6-3 decision issued today, the Supreme Court ruled that 1) a jury must be unanimous in its findings on criminal convictions, and 2) sentencing enhancements cannot be arbitrarily implemented by judicial fiat.
The ruling and the rhetoric in the opinion have obvious implications for both the illegal Bragg witch trial against Trump in New York City and the bogus J6 1512(c) charges and sentencing enhancements that corrupt federal judges have announced they will implement if the Supreme Court nukes 1512(c).

Easy for him to say, when the state was paying for the roof over his head, the food in his stomach, and he didn’t have a girlfriend or a wife or children to take care of.
If he wasn’t in prison, he would have to pay for that stuff himself, and that requires prosperity.
I think he was more opining on pursuing matters of the soul versus material wealth. Since most of his words seem to not contradict scripture I would guess that he would be in support of providing for one’s family, just not the specific pursuit of wealth/prosperity, probably more along the lines of one’s daily bread…not that I can in Any Way speak for him, that’s just how his words struck me…

I’m sure he was, I just don’t know how to separate the two in the current reality.
A man who is reduced to stealing in order to feed his family isn’t going to be doing a lot of spiritual development.
It is usually people who are unfamiliar with financial desperation who speak in these lofty and idealistic ways.
Solzhenitsyn suffered plenty, but he did not live in a system like ours, and once he was free, he had benefactors and he was in demand all over the world, something which most people will never experience.
It is easy to talk the way he is talking, when all of one’s current and future needs are going to be met.
People who don’t know where they are going to sleep tomorrow have more pressing matters on their mind.

Agree about ‘position’, disagree about ‘property’.
It seems that many people who attain ‘position’ or ‘status’ are only able to do so by being seen as ‘reasonable’ by most people (or complying with society’s rules).
Being seen as ‘reasonable’ generally means political-correctness (not rocking the boat, not taking controversial stands), which means such a person is probably going to be totally blind to something like the Covidiocy attack.
So ‘position’ certainly comes with potential for significant drawbacks.
Property ownership, on the other hand, is a foundational Right.
Unless you are a world famous artist who can create wealth by throwing paint at a canvas, owning property is a means to wealth and prosperity.
In Abstractland, prosperity may be illusory. But try telling that to the taxman, the utilities or your wife.
You’re going to need money, and the entire system is set up so that making (and keeping) money (and the purchasing power thereof) as difficult as possible for the most people possible.
This is reason number 3,478 why the People of this world should outlaw billionaires.
Any system that goes on long enough (apparently 50 years is plenty) ends up with 1% of the population holding 80% (or more) of all the wealth.
And when people have billions of dollars, something usually goes wrong with their head. They become so detached from the reality of living for the 99% that they become gods in their own minds.
And they get bored. The cure for boredom is power, and their endless supply of money affords them limitless power.
So you end up with much less than 1% of the population having tyrannical power over 99% of the population. They spend all their time coming up with maniacal control systems, depopulation / genocide plans and sex trafficking / slavery.
It doesn’t have to be that way.
There are 8+ billion of us, and only around 3,000 billionaires.
That means We the People outnumber the billionaires by about 2,667,000 to one.

They are a mockery of the world I happen to live in. They may work great in some other world — I can’t speak to that.

He went through a terrible experience for a period of time, and thanks to his facility with words, and being in the right place at the right time, and being useful to the West in exposing and vilifying the Soviet system, he was able to capitalize on that experience.
Lots of people in this world have been through worse experiences, for far longer, without fame or fortune at the end of it, if there was an end to it.
